Really awesome playing. Gorgeous sound and such solid technique. I was at first skeptical at the idea of this piece working in a concerto format, but it really does.

I thought it worked surprisingly well! I was wishing I'd had this arrangement 20 years ago.

While his playing is beyond exquisite, I feel the piece really doesn't work as a concerto. It loses its magic of being a chamber work in this setting. And it seems the orchestra limits him in what he can do with the piece. It's just not that exciting nor that intimate to me. But....dat viola though!

As a pianist, I can bear with equanimity the appropriation of this work by violists, but stealing MY part is another matter! Actually, it works fairly well, but I ain't gonna stop playing it. Your playing, however, is enough to daunt King David, if he was a clarinetist. Seriously, I first heard you doing Mozart KV 563 and was hugely impressed by all three of you. Can't wait to hear you in KV 364. Come to Boston soon! ...On a totally different note, is your first name a variant of Amittai, the father of Jonah? It means, I am told, "truth".
