Martin Fröst's simply phenomenal musicianship is never more apparent than in his unflashy, incredibly precise and sensitive chamber music performances.
Der Dialog zwischen den drei Solisten ist sehr intim und zugleich perfekt synchronisiert. Der tiefe Ton der Bratsche ist besonders eindrucksvoll.

+Mark Hatlestad IMO, Martin Frost's name is in the title because he's so well known. (He's as good at showboating as he is at playing the clarinet.)
Well, davehshs. I checked with other professional clarinetists about this video and they say he is not so well respected as Maestro Golan anyway. (internationally that is).

If a clarinetist can breathe silently and not disrupt the music, why can't a violist?
I think the breathing is part of expression and we learn us to breathe .
Die 3 Musikanten mögen sich aber besonders gerne . . . , schade, weil wenn´s so wäre könnte tatsächlich Musik entstehen, so aber sind es Stücke für 3 Solisten die halt nun man zusammen musizieren müssen, warum auch immer ;-)

If you can find Harold Wright's performance of this with Nobuko Imai you'll hear something superior in every respect.
Now those are some sour grapes.
Nice we can leave comments, right? So I will just say that violist Mr. Grosz would benefit by learning musical phrasing from Mr. Fröst whose connection of the notes in the phrase is exceptional. Mr. Grosz is much to disjointed for an enjoyable listen. (we don't care about vibrato on every note more than good phrasing). Mr. Golan should learn about pitch relationships produced by the other two and search out a genuine tuning technician for the piano and not rely on the obsolete equal temperament which chokes the expressive quality of his fine playing. This audio engineer is the crazy one . . . using small diaphragm microphones for serious musical instruments? The viola sounds like a 3/4 size student model and the clarinet sounds like one of those cheep Chinese plastic French imitations. Overall I did give it a 'thumbs up' for a basically well performed concert.
