"Midget chicken, muffins & heart-stopping, artery clogging country ham and rogue showers"... Hmmm...sounds like the makings of an AWESOME camping trip! Great video as usual. Rock on guys!
I gotta' say, I get more excited when I see new uploads for this channel more than almost any other nowadays! I love how each video has the different phases and so much going on, from the intro, to cooking and then into going over some gear. You guys doing a great job, I really enjoy these! Your camp cookery has reached master levels too! Keep it going guys, thanks.
Hot dog! That's awesome to hear! The camp cooking is something that we sure do get a real kick out of and we try to show/demonstrate the gear that we like to use and we attempt to explain why we like it. The videos end up being long and we try to cut down on the fluff...but...here we are! Thank you for encouraging us!
Very nice biv tent. I have a Eureka Solitaire that I like very much. People had trouble with the fiberglass poles so they went with the aluminum poles on the new tents. I have had no problems with the fiberglass poles on mine. Gotta have a biv tent.
I think there is a Eureka Solitaire in our local Dunham's. It may be a Back Country now that I think about it. Personally I prefer the aluminum poles in general.
You both are the best... I picked up a Catoma "Badger". They may have stopped making them, but for lightweight: "I am just needing a tent to sleep in and it might rain a little at night" type of camping I dig it. If you can find one, give it a try.
Great camp out, those Cornish hens looked tasty, hey that’s how they cooked on the trail along time ago, whatever was killed went into the pot, And that breakfast looked perfect, I’m definitely going to have to try both meals out . I have the battle box tent which is a mimic of the ionosphere and I love it and threw away the fly and just use my hammock tarp with it , I have a camp pillow also that I got off Amazon from trekology , you might want to check it out , it has kind of a dip in the middle where your head goes, it’s comfortable but you definitely need a pillow case over it like you have because it will slip out from under your head with out one..well gentleman cool weather is almost here and I think we can agree it’s much more enjoyable camping in cooler weather, it’s always enjoyable watching y’all camp , y’all have great bond and it’s nice to see it....god bless
The Wolverine fly for the Catoma is really nice, BUT, the Gopher tarp is far more versatile. Like you mentioned above, it can be used over a hammock, tent, and so on. I think I'll try that Trekology pillow and the Luxe by Klymit (amzn.to/2Rr7Zrf) It's the center of the X in the Klymit that I don't like and Trek and Lux look to be more of what I am wanting. Bring on the cool weather and more camps!
Loving these videos guys! Thanks a ton.. I picked up a Catoma IBNS in August, and have yet to use it but seeing your videos makes me wanna get on out there!!
@@robertsbushcraft I sure did! I went ahead and went all out and got the Cadillac - the Wolverine fly. I am a former Marine, but never had the luxury of using this bad boy, so really looking forward to it!
I have ran with both depending on temperature mainly. The wolverine rain fly is very nice for colder climates keeps alot of the heat in. instagram.com/p/B11Y77Kn6mv/?igshid=la1kmwv4zaty Keep up the good work always enjoy your videos!
Really nice outing, those hens looked delicious! As always love the gear but got to say my favorite is the homemade pillow case! Think I may need to whip up something similar with an old poncho liner, looks so comfy! Once again great video fellas. Aloha.
You know it felt like I was doing something wrong by cutting up that jacket liner, like stepping on hallowed ground or something. Once I got over the queasiness of it I was please with how it turned out. Aloha, my friend!
Great and informative video Curry! You always make me hungry from all yours and Gabriel's good eats! and you always seem to introduce me to some new product to spend money on! lol Like the the Catoma, that's just want I need down here in the SandHills of NC to stay cool and keep those pesky gnats and mosquitos from sucking me dry!! I'm interested to see if you find a pillow solution as I have the same problem! Thanks again!! vr, Shannon
I have to admit, those Catoma's are really nice. Our weather patterns are pretty much the same and that allows these Catoma's to be used in all four season here. AND the time saved in setup really allows us to get to focus more on cooking! A few folks have mentioned on here and on instagram.com/robertsbushcraft/ that the Trekology pillows are pretty comfortable and I think I am going to try the Klymit Luxe pilow: amzn.to/2Rr7Zrf

Great job on your very detailed review! I've been looking for a lightweight sleeping system for down here in South Florida where we only have two seasons (January and summer) and mosquitos year round. I bought a wolverine ebns based in large part on your reviews. It definitely beats a milspec poncho hootch anchored with bungee cords. Thanks much!
Awesome video you guys! I really enjoyed it. Keep up the good work. It's GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much for sharing!! P.S. Hey Curry, what watch is that? I really like it!
It's an old Citizen Promaster Aqualand Eco Drive that I picked up in 1997 or 1998 I think. It's never needed a battery replacement because it's recharged by light. Gabriel is wearing my older Citizen C023 Promaster Aqualand. I kind of have a thing for the Citizen watches.
@@robertsbushcraft Hey thanks Curry! Wow, twenty years on the same battery..... Now I REALLY like it! Thanks for the quick reply and again, thanks for all you guys do here on "the tube", it's much appreciated! Jerry
I think, I gained 2 pounds , just watching this video ? Lol , These guys don't only know about good gear . They also know A little bit about good camp 🏕 cooking 🍳 ? Thanks again guy's
Man, that Cornish hen looked amazing. Do you guys prefer the Catoma EBNS over the TCOP? I've thought about getting one for each of my kids, 12 and 9. It looks lighter and easier to set up, but the TCOP looks stronger but heavier. That ham looked next level lol. I recently got that Klymit pillow and I really like it, i was using a Snugpak Basecamp Ops inflatable pillow, you might prefer it to the Klymit pillow. It's around the same price.
That ham was next level! SALTY! You know, overall...TCOP, solely because it is a four season castle. That said...the Catoma is almost a third of the weight of the TCOP and, depending on your location, it can easily get you through the fourth season with a good bivy and sleep system. Honestly though, for three-season outings, the Catoma is hard to beat. The tarp (and rain fly) perform as designed and the tarp actually gives you a little more flexibility in setup options. The kids will thank you for having them haul those around vs the TCOP. We'll check that Snugpack pillow out, the hunt is still on for a good camp pillow!
Stewing those birds is an excellent way to get every last bit out of them. Bones, cartilage, skin, and connective tissues break down into collagen/gelatin and amino acids. I would drink every drop of the broth for that reason. A large cookpot is very important for survival for that reason. Evernew used to make a large size 4L Ti cookpot that I had on my must have list years ago. Recently checked their site to find they no longer make them.
The larger of the two Stanley pots we had is a 2.43qt pot and that was about a minimum for what we were doing. Honestly though the smaller 1.58qt pot did better than expected. We couldn't put as many potatoes, carrots, and onions in it as we did the larger one. It was a fantastic meal! We're going to look in to larger cook pots to carry on our kayaks.
@@robertsbushcraft Mors Kochanski always said that a large cookpot is of utmost importance, and if filled with gear it takes little space in your pack. He was Canadian so snow melting for drinking water is very important.

Around thirty to forty minutes, if I recall correctly, S.J..
what happened to the mini cabin build?
Dad hurt his back when we were building it last year. All is well now and we are waiting on cooler weather to start the project back up.
Only thing I back out from this is fiberglass gets old very easily that I've heard from the reviews.
