I gotta be honest. I was searching for more live performances of Billy doing "Prelude/Angry Young Man" and when this came up I would've skipped it and moved on, but your comment grabbed me and pulled me in. Thanks for a perfectly accurate comment and for getting me to check this out. I DID surely enjoy it!
In 1995 San Diego ,My wife and I experienced Elton John and Billy Joel perform together at Jack Murphy Stadium . Head to head grand pianos. Best concert we'd ever attended
I met Billy Joel a few decades ago. He arrived on his motorbike and was about to go on the radio, so he was nervous. But when I asked him a question about a recent magazine interview he gave, in which he spoke of surviving a suicide attempt, he sat down beside me and we chatted for around 15 mins. Since then I have met a multitude of people, celebs, therapists, and non famous people, and I can state categorically that the conversation I had with Billy was possibly the best therapy one could experience, even when compared to “real” therapy. He’s a terrific person.
Many many live performances and passion will get you there! It doesn't hurt having a well trained and pleasantly unique voice either! He definitely has a king ear to know what works best!
Almost a year later, this pops into my recommendations and despite Billy Joel singing, and playing, my only takeaway from this is "pianist envy"... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
He is one of the artists who is terrific live. Have seen him twice live but been a huge admirer for over 50 years. Live at the Dome in Johannesburg he and his band gave a terrific show. He will sellout any venue if he came back .🏟🏟
Obviously, a "set-up", and well -prepared in advance. That being said, that was absolutely incredible, and actually brought tears. IMO, Billy Joel is on of the three greatest pianists in modern times (Elton John & Liberace being the other two). This 'bit' was thought out quite well, and incredibly joyful to watch & listen to. 👍👍
reminds me of so many great Joel shows through the years... one that stands out is Dallas american airlines where the crowd sang piano man back to him... incredible memory
what a great collaboration !! i got to see billy joel last year in Atlanta,, i would love to see igudesman & joo one day ~ as someone who grew up listening to billy joel, and loved igudesman and joo since i was in orchestra starting 4th grade ~ what a lucky audience !!
haha.... what a treat for the audience this was! 🥳 Last millennium, a friend bestowed the nickname "PianoMan" on me. I was a camper at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (BLFAC), piano major. One afternoon I was walking past the row of piano practice sheds... I heard someone plunking out a piece I could not only play, but I had the sheet music for the piece with me in my music bag! I knocked on the door, politely offered to demonstrate. After doing so, those in the shed looked at each other and said, "He's in." In what I was thinking.... their camper talent show act as it turned out! We were the opening act of the event. Bright lights of the Stewart Shell venue, 9' Steinway Grand.... the act went flawlessly!!! 🎼🎹🎵🎶 When we finished the crowed roared with applauds! That year for my project piece, I wanted to learn the Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13 "Pathétique": II. Adagio cantabile movement. I had just recently found out that the Beethoven Sonata movement was the piece Karl Haas used at the beginning and ending of each of his episodes of "Adventures in Good Music" program.... so I really wanted to finally work on the piece he had made so memorable. There was a problem.... a peer student studying under the same master tutor wanted to work on the exact same movement. She was most gracious, and allowed us both to work on the same movement, perform at the end of the session. All that, and more, combined to make the best BLFAC experience ever. And what do you know..... nickname followed me along to be my RUclips channel name.
Just now saw this how great it is. Reminds me of when I saw in concert Billy & Elton together like this 1993-4, pianos back to back, it was amazingly bliss. Billy was having a blast the entire concert & Elton seemed a bit annoyed at times, not sure if it was staged but it didn’t seem so. He has a supersized sense of humor. That’s why people love him, he’s real...
Elton John, although I love him, has way too much ego. I think he was jealous of how much Billy is loved here and the relationship he has with the audience.
So cool . My very first concert was billy Joel and Elton John at veteran stadium in Philadelphia i was 14 years old and I'm 42 today and I've been to many concerts and that first one still holds a special place in my heart to see both of them play dueling pianos of rocket man and piano man absolutely amazing
Saw him in the late 80's in Omaha Ne and it is still one of my top 5 concerts of all time. 1.5 hours of back to back, followed by a solid hour of encores. NO ONE left after the final song for at least an hour after...begging him for just one more song.
INCREDIBLE! Gave me goosebumps! I saw Billy Joel a couple times years ago. He was so good in concert, that I went the next night too! Billy did the jump off his piano too! Was so 😎!
You know how good each of them had to be to pull this off? All of them maestros. And a hat tip to the stage production so when Billy comes on his piano and his microphone are perfectly set up.
I have not seen a piano and violin comedy routine as funny or as well acted as this since Charles Chaplin teamed up with Buster Keaton in Chaplin’s masterpiece film, Limelight. (My favourite film). This is an act that should tour on the comedy circuit. Brilliant, old fashioned variety entertainment. Cannot beat it!!
"In every heart there is a room, a sanctuary safe and strong...." His best lyrics, so just ignore this trifling distraction. He spoke with genuine feeling form experience.
"I believe I've passed the age of conciusness & righteousness rage, I found that just surviving was a noble fight. I once believed in causes to, I had my pointless point of view, life went on no matter who was wrong or right" still kills me! He's beyond phenomenal with music & lyrics equally!
Sometimes......RUclips just comes through .. and places a gem on a platter, hands it you, and says , "Here! You wil surely enjoy this!"
Yup! And boy, did i need a giggle today.
And t n it destroys that enjoyment with an ad at the most disruptive moment.

True story!!!!
100%
Richard Joo played on Billy Joel's classical album and they've been friends for a long time. Awesome to see them together on this
10 minutes of my life that was totally well spent for once
The man ages. The piano ages. And his music sounds as fresh as the day it was conceived. Kudo's Mr. Joel, there is only one of you.
As good as 1978
Yeah, 8 years before he wrote it! :-D
@Andy Man A wise man once said.
YES!
In 1995 San Diego ,My wife and I experienced Elton John and Billy Joel perform together at Jack Murphy Stadium . Head to head grand pianos. Best concert we'd ever attended
That must have been awesome.
OMG! Soooooo Envious!
That sounds absolutely amazing. I'm not jealous, I swear! 😂
This is why you don't go anywhere without your piano. Never know when you will have to join two comedic musical geniuses on stage.
Yes, you gotta have one on you at all times.
Man how cool to be the staff, “We got to roll a piano out for Billy Joel last night!”
I was privelidged to work with many shows in the 70's.
I was in awe seeing the pianos and cars being loaded to 'take it on the road!'
I love it when the world's most famous artists can cut lose and have fun and show they are (somewhat) normal people! Thanks Mr. Joel!

God Billy Joel has such stage presence...Absolutely amazing he nailed it!
Saying Billy Joel has great stage presence is like saying fish swim well. It’s what he does.
Many many live performances and passion will get you there! It doesn't hurt having a well trained and pleasantly unique voice either! He definitely has a king ear to know what works best!
@@fezzik7619 after playing the world's most hangouts and larger venues for me 50 years... He's had plenty of practice.
I can't see these wannabes ... they fucked up his song when he is present ... what a chuzpe ...
Almost a year later, this pops into my recommendations and despite Billy Joel singing, and playing, my only takeaway from this is "pianist envy"... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!
I still have his old albums pre-Uptown Girl and plenty of hair. Oh, how we have all changed. What a good life it has been.
Year old and I’m just seeing this “random”algorithmic RUclips suggestion... perfect timing. Great piece.
Love this, great artists having fun and not taking themselves too seriously.
Ray Charles would have loved this! I miss Ray- a great voice and soul from my youth to my standing up to be a man, just a man.
:-O Had to pinch myself several times to make sure i'm not dreaming. ♥Billy Joel ♥Igudesman ♥Joo
blessall4ever I know, right !!❤️❤️
Same!!! I would so love to see these guys someday
Billy Joel and his music is an American treasure!
A worldwide treasure! ❤
cannot stand listening to a great musician like Billy Joel with those acoustics. AAAAggh!
Yep. Sounds horrible, but it probably wasn't the acoustics as much as the device that was used to record.
Turnstiles is still my favorite Billy Joel album. Summer Highland Falls gets me every time.
Best album, and best song!

Saw his at his 100th Concert at MSG in NYC - his special guest Star was the Boss - Bruce Springsteen - 1 word
FABULOUS!
Such a stunning idea for a show. Great entertainment!!

This totally pegged the "off the chart meter". Outstanding Mr Joel. Igudesman & Joo, you ain't too bad either.. This made me smile.
Amazing artist, and one of the most loyal to the people behind him getting that piano to and from every stage he plays.
Love Joel❤
He only plays on that particular piano? Really? That is interesting.

Best thing I’ve seen all week!
i used to be so into billy joel in the 70s i was just a kid. his music is amazing hes a true legend.
Saw Billy in 1978 on the 52nd Street tour. An amazing live show. Still singing and playing as good as ever....
So glad I ran across this video, really funny, a lot of talent on one stage Billy Joel is a musician's musician.
Fantastic! Billy Joel has an amazing stage presence!

Billy Joel has always been one of my very favorite artists of all time, from way back from in the 70’s.
BRAVO!!! You’re still the greatest.

Any good music speaks for itself in any style. What a cool collaboration with humor. Fun treat with still good music at best!!! 👏♥️
Not always, a lot of good music is butchered by poor cover performers.
Billy you are and will always be the best. You're like fine wine- you get even better with aging and you were awesome to begin with!
You know how good each of them had to be to pull this off? All of them maestros. And a hat tip to the stage production so when Billy comes on his piano and his microphone are perfectly set up.
“Too Frigging Staccato!” 🤣😂🤣
Outstanding! The Penn and Teller of music!
That was so much fun. I have always loved Billy Joel’s music
Eleven minutes of musical joy.
Why doesn't this have a million views? it's great!
I love how RUclips serves up treats like this! ❤️
Great job!!
The one and only Mr. Billy Joel.
His music is the melody of my youth and life.
I love that they kept up the schtick that it was spontaneous. Lovely moment.
Wonderful! Why haven't I seen this before now!
For some reason this makes me emotional..I grew up listening to billy, I’m a Long Island boy..
Hicksville
Love this!
Absolutely brilliant. Great humour! Oh and what a tune 😀
Boy, did you guys cheer me up!!!!! thanks. 😋🌷🌱🌼🎹🌷

@@pinkfloyddwc We'd all very much like to see what great songs you've written and performed.
That was hilarious, what a fun way to showcase 3 amazing talents. I wish I would have experienced that in-person. Billy Joel you are such a Legend!
This is so funny
Well done billy Joel ! I would imagine he had great fun
what a treat for the audience. Love stuff like this --Similar happened at 2 different concerts I attended.
Because it's part of the show
Are we gonna keep ignoring that wonderful Joe Cocker impression at 9:27?
Actually thought that was a Ray Charles impression.
The violinist? I'm thinking that was an old female performer. Can't think of her name.
@@chrish6412 With hand movements it was definitely Joe Cocker.
Lol. Tina Turner.
I LOVED That! It was hysterical... and pretty danged accurate too!
I have to say I found this very entertaining and was aware of the film style but not missing a very polished performance. New respect.
I never knew BJ wrote this for Ray Charles but now I know why it's so good
What do you mean? Have you never heard the original recording on "The Bridge"? It prominently features Ray in a piano/vocal duet with Billy.
There's an interview out there in which Billy Joel explains how the song came about and Ray Charles' reaction to it. It's a pretty cool story.
He wrote it with Ray Charles in mind and it sounds exactly like a Ray Charles song.
This was funny. Thank you guys.
Sooo entertaining !! While in lock down here in Aotearoa -New Zealand stumbled on this by accident ! Thankyou Guys !!
Billy the legend.
this is an incredible performance
by.......3 big artists👏🤗👏 thx🙏
This is one of the greatest things I've ever watched!
Too bad Ray Charles couldn't be there. That duet is so great.
OK, that was awesome!
Loved it. And the little homage to queen at the end.
Wow, he actually sang it in the original key
Outstanding
Very cool. Funny and fun! Outstanding musicians on that stage!
I almost choked on my coffee when Billy did Joe Cocker! 🤣
Billy is just a funny, funny New York guy. Love him!
"In every heart there is a room, a sanctuary safe and strong...." His best lyrics, so just ignore this trifling distraction. He spoke with genuine feeling form experience.

He’s is the piano man.
Bill really shows his sense of humor very enjoyable!
Hilarious. i was cracking up
Beautifully done and executed!
Billy Joel e' veramente il più completo e versatile musicista .... Talento !!!!
Amazing songwriter and person....love to see this stuff
I Cried.
Me, too, but not for the same reason.
Same here.
Enjoyed this. Love 💘 Billy Joel
“Your piano is bigger than mine!” 🤣
That's just pianist envy.
@@gustafsone Well played!
@Gryff Longdong He certainly did.
His reply should have been...."You should see my organ!"
😂
Awesome, beautiful love it
Late at night,... gave me shivers and goose bumps!
The "classic case of pianist envy" had me rolling on the floor 😂
Billy Joel just seems to get better and better. It’s “… just a New York State of Mind”. Great he doesn’t take himself seriously and is able to laugh.
This is pure win. This is reminiscent of Victor Borge' back in the day....love it!
This is too good to be true!
Billy Joel is my favorite singer.
BJ is the best.
Fuck yeah I love BJ
(think we are talking about the same thing)
Just came across this video, Hahaha Fantastic!!
At first I was thinking it was gonna be fake, but they actually got Billy Joel 😂😂😂.
I think Richard Joo and Billy are buddies. Richard played all Billy's compositions on his last album 'Fantasies and Delusions'.
always nice to see a concert grand. Everyone knows it's baby brother.
I have virtually no talent! But I can definately listen well. Thank goodness there are still a few greats out there!
Absolutely loved it!
Really gotta see a Billy Joel concert
