The second test cut the auto pressure was changed to 4, which will not change the "half cut pressure". You can see on the screen right before the second cute it was still on auto because the "half pressure " was not changed. When using the half cut setting use the half cut pressure setting not the standard blade pressure setting as the machine doesn't look at that when you're half cutting.

You are correct! She should've changed the Half-Cut pressure as changing the regular Cut Pressure did nothing to increase it!

Why does the brother need a different cutter for vinyl? Is the cutter that came with the machine not good enough? I don't even know how to ask this question.

Hi Terry, the blade that comes with the ScanNCut is totally fine to cut vinyl, and I've successfully cut vinyl with my ScanNCut using the regular Auto blade many times. The blade in the Vinyl AutoBlade is smaller so that would help it cut more intricate desigsn in vinyl, plus it comes in a blue housing which makes it easier to distinguish between the regular autoblade in the black housing (some people like to keep two separate blades - one for paper and another for vinyl because paper will dull the blade faster than vinyl). Hi, I know this is an old conversation but I did try this, and fingers crossed, and it worked. Our local vendor has the blade but not the holder with blue on top, decided to buy the blade and figured I could buy the holder somewhere anyway. After watching so many videos about how good this blade can cut through vinyl I am itching to try it :) so I did and thankfully it worked.

Why do we need another blade…this machine is bleeding me dry…should the regular blade cut this…oh, you need a fabric blade for fabric…but it doesn’t work so now they want you to buy a rotary blade kit…now a vinyl kit..where does it end…this is a scam because this machine is just a paper cutter they say can do miracles…the mats lose their stick after a few uses…then they won’t load at all so you have to buy new ones after like a month. Very disappointed In this machine. I won’t even mention the Brother web site 😳. This machine needs a lot more work done before it’s ready for what they can do without you spending most of your day trying g to cut one quilt piece.

i have bought a scanncut machine but its 3 weeks and i am afraid of using it lest i cut through the mat...(which happened with my last machine) i know that this new machine comes with an auto blade, so does it mean that i dont have to adjust the settings of the blade to cut? please help

Hi Abeline - you are correct, you do not need to adjust the settings of the auto blade.
