This dress! In a long creamy yellow, it was my prom dress in 1980! I believe I made it with a Butterick pattern. I came across your channel early in the pandemic and I have really enjoyed seeing what young adults are sewing these days. I am so impressed with the "make your own patterns", which is what my grandmother used to do.
I haven't found someone who explains how to make the pattern pieces so simply but effectively like ever! And also, the patterns you give usually work for my body first try somehow! Magic.
The dress was floor length and the straps twice as wide, but that’s my prom dress from 1978. Very popular then. Designer was Jessica McClintock, I believe.
What a great inspo! I have collected quite a few vintage floral bedsheets from my thrift stores and they are perfect fabric for this pattern! Haven’t sewn for a few months . This video is my sewing mojo
That's so funny!! I literally saw that same exact dress, saved to my pinterest, and made one inspired by it until I can get materials I like to do a better version. Then I see you posted this a week later. Such a funny coincidence!! Love the material you found!! And saw that Mia was inspired by your video and used a tutorial and posted the same day as you (I had already been following both of you for a while so it was another interesting coincidence!)
Hey girl i love your videos but i have a question coud you make a dress that has long sleeves till the wrists and make the skirt piece long please and sorry for my bad english i dont speak english
I literally had this dress as my inspo for a sewing weekend next week (had it saved for WEEKS) & now you make this tutorial??? ♥ thANK YOU! I shall come back to let y'all know how it turned out :D
Not sure what your serger problem is but I know with mine I have to thread it in the EXACT order the manual says. It took me awhile to figure that out. Threading it isn't good enough. It has to be threaded cone by cone in whichever order the manual specifies. Your kitty is being so good! When my boy was young he once bit through each thread on my serger. He went cone by cone and cleanly nipped each one. The thing is a pain to rethread so I wasn't too happy about that! LOL
Hey! This amazing RUclipsr I watch has used one of your patterns for her bridesmaid dresses and she made a video She’s Mia maples in case you want to watch her video
If you're still having issues with your serger, I find that they can be temperamental and need to be threaded in a specific order. I go from right to left.
I just bought this pattern! The bodice is done 👏🏻 It is so pretty. I need you to do a slow mo tutorial on the proper way to install an invisible zipper, please!
Great Tutorial like always ❤️😍 I think I'll do this with the Ikea curtains youve used before, I accidentally got mine stained pinkish in the washing machine so I've got them to spare hahha.
i feel like the vertical ribbons you used, on the original piece, they look to be boning channels? its a very pretty dress and you did a great job not only in making, but explaining. how did you come to decide on your pattern shapes and sizes? did you drape a muslin?
From what I am aware of she sketches her patterns and then free hand them. She has mentioned that she took pattern making classes since she was younger so she probably just has a lot of experience
My server kept coming undone at the needle a couple weeks ago and the only way for me to fix it was to completely rethread the machine. The key point is that the order matters on a serger so double check your manual for that.
one needel for me was doing that and discovered it unneedel due to thread snapps. not sure how it got fixxed becouse it worked again when I got the machine to store to get checked up and been working sence then and all they did was say looked like I treaded it rigth and did a rethread as wall and then it worked . But it was my second tread fromrigth that kept doing it. well atleast working now and still a mystery why and how it started to work again
I have an event soon and don't have a sewing machine but I really love your dresses. Would it be possible to sew some of your dresses by hand? Thanks 😊

I used a twin sized sheet plus a queen sheet for the skirt pieces(there was lots let's on queen) I feel like all of it would fit on a queen or king sheet. Pattern ask for 4 yards

the dress totally looks like a gunne sax style dress from the 70s! amazing job as always
i thought so too, my favourite brand!😭 might spend the whole summer making this
Yes all the ribbons and lace trims totally gave me Gunne Sax vibes.
It is! The original photo comes from a listing for the dress on Nuvonu, a site that sells vintage pieces. Shows a picture of the tag and everything.

Yes, it's a gunne sax dress. This is an excellent reproduction, one of the best I've seen. Great work.

I love this! I can't wait for the pattern!!!

How did it go? I'm trying to make the same dress :D
Totally gorgeous and cute dress. Really nice choice of fabric and so much skill in making it without a pattern and only one photo!

Beautiful dress can't wait to try it!
Just watched Mia Mapeles' her video and went straight to your youtube Chanel!! And subscibed really gonna use this soon!! Thank you!!💗💗
Hello!!! I came from Mia Maples channel also!!!
I just bought this pattern! The bodice is done 👏🏻 It is so pretty. I need you to do a slow mo tutorial on the proper way to install an invisible zipper, please!
Haha! Step #24! Just watched the video. I think that helps 😊
Such a cute cute dress love it
Beautiful dress!!! Wondering if you could make a petticoat skirt tutorial...
i’m in love
So pretty!
you make sewing look so easy! thank you for sweet video
It’s definitely a Gunne Sax :)
Sorry but I’m a bit confused on the zipper part. Do you add the zipper to center back or on the side of the dress?
I believe this dress is either true vintage, or styled to look like Gunne Sax dresses from the 1970’s
Great Tutorial like always ❤️😍 I think I'll do this with the Ikea curtains youve used before, I accidentally got mine stained pinkish in the washing machine so I've got them to spare hahha.
Beautiful! How did you learn to make patterns?

Stunning ! How much fabric did you use at the end? I only have two meters of fabric 🥲
You should have a pattern drafting classes! I'm not good at pattern drafting!
I've had a similar issue with my serger, and it turned out it was the thread that was poor and kept ripping and the needed getting un-threaded :(
Will you make a mens shirt? Also you should create your own label.
Can you make a diy of those cute tweed Chanel's dresses?
oreo said “oh new fabric? i sit.”😸
Hello,
do you have a guide on how to add the zipper to this? :)
your new thread may be slightly thicker then what you were using, play with your tension dials, turn all back to 0 and start over
Hey! I’m loving your videos! I really want to start sewing and I need to get a machine! Do you have any suggestions?
one needel for me was doing that and discovered it unneedel due to thread snapps. not sure how it got fixxed becouse it worked again when I got the machine to store to get checked up and been working sence then and all they did was say looked like I treaded it rigth and did a rethread as wall and then it worked . What is the seam allowance used for this pattern? That would be nice to mention with the instructions
Will there be a pattern for sale for this style of dress?
I have an event soon and don't have a sewing machine but I really love your dresses. Would it be possible to sew some of your dresses by hand? Thanks 😊

Ensina a fazer o macacão azul que vc está vestindo
Any chance you can make a size 6 ball gown😳
I believe the dress is from nuvonu. they sell beautiful vintage pieces
I'm pretty sure nuvonu is a big scam
Can you make a video of how to make those patterns of what the measurements mean because I'm a beginner and I'm so confused 😕
Hello, I bought your pattern. Are the margins included ? If yes, how many centimetres? Thanks!
Hi, I just wanted to ask, how long is the invisible zipper?
HERMOSO 😄🌹
I want to make this dress, but before I buy the pattern I want to know how much fabric I would need (just for the lining) can you help me with that?
I used a twin sized sheet plus a queen sheet for the skirt pieces(there was lots let's on queen)
I feel like all of it would fit on a queen or king sheet.
Pattern ask for 4 yards
Woow 💞💗😍

Hvorfor smiler du ikke 😡😡
The dress is cute but the term "cottage core" turns me off. I don't know why but i think of stale food , cheese..all the time i hear this name.
