It's obvoius, if we renovate Old Trafford, you do it one stand at a time, if we're building a new stadium, we stay at Old Trafford while the new stadium is being built. The new stadium won't be built exactly where Old Trafford is, it'll be built on the land to the west or on a new site. But probably on the land to the west. United own it.
I don't understand it. If you're building a new stadium on a new site, why not make a global statement and make it the biggest football stadium in the world and make it 130k capacity?!!. From what I hear they would have no problem covering those numbers at most matchdays.

How can united not afford to build their own stadium when both spurs and Everton have just built their new stadiums with less income then united have. I understand they have debt but that's down to bad decisions made letting the glazers buy the club in the way they did. If they get any government funding for this rebuild then all the clubs in the country that have had to rebuild should be given an equal payout to cover the costs of their stadium finance loans etc. it's ridiculous that the biggest club in the country would even be considered for a handout when clubs with lesser finances have had to do it on there own.
Mate chillout they aren't getting government support with the stadium but the infrastructure around Manchester especially around the area Old Trafford is in needs some serious work which United cannot touch as it is owned by Manchester council. That's what United have been speaking to the government about.

City might not have a choice as the council might actually own the stadium similar to the West Ham's use of the London Stadium. Wembley would impractical hence why City of Manchester council might suggest a rental agreement.
