Oh Michelle, you have saved me once again! ❤I have a new principal who wants our schedule done in sheets. Even after 31 years in the classroom I was clueless, frustrated, and feeling punk. Now I think I have an idea of how to at least get started! I can’t wait to try again tomorrow 😊. Thank you for always sharing things I need to learn. Your channel was of course the first place I looked!
It never fails everytime there I watch one of your videos there is a moment where my mind is blown. I use sheets for check lists but never thought about making strips for keeping track of marking! This is a game changer for me…
I watch your videos because 1. You’re awesome. 2. You love order as much as I do. I didn’t even need to watch this one but holy hell, I got an idea while viewing and just created a checklist that’s gonna make my work so much more organized and satisfying. Who doesn’t like checking shit off lists? Thanks, Michelle!
Hi There. Veteran teacher here, not really all that techie. Creating these "fancy" spreadsheets has always been a mystery to me. I was covering a physics class today so I used the time to watch this video...and ... drum roll please...created my first ever "fancy" Google Sheets student list, very similar to the one in this video. I can't thank you enough for this tutorial...I am feeling just a bit more techie today. Best of luck with your year. P. Drake Halifax NS Canada,
Michele Emerson--you are a GIRL BOSS!!! I LOVE LOVE your video tutorials! (and your podcasts, your TPT and your youtube channel.) I just want to say I already have been using all google and know how to make sheets but the tips and shortcuts I learn from you are always usable and easy to follow! I am sharing with my teacher colleagues. Thank you for all you do for the teacher community. I also pass your videos to my daughter who has gotten into lifting and macros. You are an absolute inspiration and I love following your journey!
Aww, thank you SO much Alexis! 🖤 I really appreciate you watching and commenting with all your kind words and support! I'm happy you've been able to learn from my tips and thank you so much for sharing with your colleagues! You ROCK! 🖤
I would love it if you did a video that showed how to link the sheets to create the missing work that auto populates or could you share where you learned it. Would like to create a weekly work checklist for students where they could see work they need to do for class.
This is amazing! I love these tutorials. Short sweet and to the point! I've already started revamping my sheets and this has worked beautifully! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to other teachers.
Omggg this was sooo helpful! Thank you for dropping straight gems! Question: how do you set it to where if you check the box all the ones that are not checked will be highlighted?
You are a goddess. This is the best Exxcel tutorial I have ever watched. It seems like you have slowed down your speech a bit. In the past some of your tutorials were a bit too fast for me. This pace is perfect for me. I love your channel!
Thanks for this video. I am so bummed about the negative responses from parent phone calls I made today and then gained a ray of hope from this helpful video.
Michelle this was very helpful! Can you also teach us how to generate those colors for certain criteria such as the ones you use on the slides? That too would be amazing.
Thank you so much. I followed along with you and made a checklist for my childcare schedule. Then I went back and played with it to try other stuff. Thank you so much. So helpful. I'm trying to learn and it was a bit easier to follow you.
This was SO helpful! Thank you , Michelle. As an instructional coach, I am working more with data (and Google Sheets) this year than ever before. I learned some tips and tricks. I also would love more Google Sheets Tutorials! Gracias!
SUCH a great tutorial! I now have so much confidence to create a sheet!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us HOW to create something that looks so good!
I always look forward to seeing your videos. Thank you for this one. Teachers always need checklists and I love how you’re able to add the checkboxes and color code the rows. I usually use Google docs but Google sheets has so many cool options. I will be experimenting with this today during my prep. Thank you once again for a wonderful tutorial. 🎉
Watching this thinking about how inefficient I am! 🤪 I’m the highlight every other row one by one kinda girl. But, not anymore!! Thanks for this awesome tutorial! This will save me so much time!!! Love your content!!

Perfect content as always! I am definitely switching over to google sheets now for all my tracking. I grew up with Excel and got certified in Excel before I graduated college and thankfully most of the ideas are the same. I am now using checklists for my job since there is so much to do and I will definitely miss something without it😂

Michelle! Thank you so much for your amazing videos. They are very helpful. I'm wondering, do you use a macro to export the data about the students who haven't completed the assignment to a new sheet? Or do you use a formula? Would it be to much to ask you to teach us to do it? 🙂 Thank you again for your fantastic work.
Thank you for watching and commenting! 🖤 I used a formula but it isn't one I'll be showing because it took a lot of finangling and is a little difficult to explain. However, you can always play around on your own and try to figure it out!

Michelle, Thank you so much! This was exactly what I needed. I will share with my partners. I’ve been teaching for 30 years and your videos along with your podcast with Bridgette has helped me tremendously with my organization and productivity and makes me want to keep teaching. You rock, girl!

Hello Michelle! Great video… so helpful👍. I will be making my lists today! I love the colors of the paper on your bookshelf. Do you have the code/numbers to find them when choosing a color? Thank you for your help. 😊
I am doing this now and loving how it is coming out. However, when I drag the column for numbering, it repeats the number 3 over and over. What am I doing wrong?
I've been tech-savvy since I was a kid and got certified in Microsoft during high school so a lot of the skills transfer over to Google very easily. Thank you so much for watching and commenting! 🖤
Absolutely! It wasn't my favorite for a while but it's grown on me a LOT because there are so many great ways you can use it! Thank you for watching and commenting Isabel! 🖤
Thank you so much, I'm always been intimadated by trying to make a page like that. (I loved this so much I watched all the commercials so you get credit for it) I would like to make a page with more "check off" type rows. Do you know about how many would fit on a page? Thank you again for being such a great help and support for teachers!!!
Aww, thank you so much Nicole! You rock! Honestly, you can add as many as you want! The maximum number of rows for Google Keep is 5 million so you should be good, ha! Thank you for watching and commenting! 🖤
OMG...Thank you. I have been wanting to work more with Google/MS and "chicken" out. I took classes in college and made it through and that's where it stopped.
Instead of right-clicking and selecting “resize,” you could also click and drag the lines between the row numbers or column letters. If you double-click the line, the height/width should auto-adjust to fit the data in the cells.
This was fantastic! One question I'm hoping you could answer... is there a way to insert multiple check boxes inside one cell? Thanks for all of your incredible tips and tricks!
Thank you for watching and commenting Lynsie! Unfortunately you can only put one checkbox in each cell but you could add additional rows or columns to add other checkboxes and then you can merge the other cells around it. Hopefully that helps!
I'm sure Bridget is soooo proud of you! :) I was at your live and did this along with her in the last session. I've been wondering if there is a way to write in a cell that also has a checkbox? For example, for collecting student work, I'd love to mark a check when I collect an assessment (my checkboxes are to the left), but then I'd like to add the grade beside the checkbox on the right. Hope that makes sense.
Hi Heidi! I hope you're doing well! I'm actually the one who showed Bridget most of this LOL 😂 But the simple answer is no... you can have a checkbox or text but not both so you would have to have two columns... one for the checkbox and one for the score next to it!
I love this! Do you have a template for Intervention in your TPT store? I am trying to find something for a few students to document intervention for a month. I'm having a hard time finding something. Thanks for any suggestions.
Hi Shelby! Thank you so much! I don't have a template specifically for intervention but I do have a progress monitor sheet as part of my Student Data Sheets which is a Google Sheets template. Here's the link for that if you want to give it a look: www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Student-Data-Sheets-Google-Sheets-Template-EDITABLE-8553151

For example, for collecting student work, I'd love to mark a check when I collect an assessment (my checkboxes are to the left), but then I'd like to add the grade beside the checkbox on the right. Hope that makes sense.
Hi Heidi! I hope you're doing well! I'm actually the one who showed Bridget most of this LOL 😂 But the simple answer is no... you can have a checkbox or text but not both so you would have to have two columns... one for the checkbox and one for the score next to it!
thank you for another amazing video you have helped me be organized and productive

Here's the link for that if you want to give it a look:

I may be asking too early but can I copy the check list into my plan book in slides so I can keep attendance?
Thanks for sharing. I like all of your videos.
