    • @larrysstudents145
      @larrysstudents145 Год назад +1

      I actually feel bad being so critical. I’m assuming that the pianist may be a vocal coach who doesn’t possess the skill required for accompaniment. It’s very difficult to play softly, especially on an overly bright piano. The pianist is probably doing as well as he can, but perhaps they should ask someone at a local university or music school to accompany instead.

    • @Alexander_Goosev
      @Alexander_Goosev Год назад

      The pianist is first-class.
      Unsuccessful sound recording. I don't know how the sound recording was done, but recording with a properly positioned phone sounds better. 😀

    • @larrysstudents145
      @larrysstudents145 Год назад

      You’re right. If the microphone were about 400 meters away from the piano, the balance would be much better. Certainly it’s not the pianist’s fault.

    Singing with a body in adolescent transition is no small task. It sounds like your voice may come with you, in spite of the limited audio capabilities of the recent recordings.
    Stay focused on breathing (new ribcage and diaphragm) and sustained notes (volume of breath dependent on ribcage and diaphragm).
    With that new body a voice will settle in. I ended up a bass-baritone and am still singing. I understand that you don't know where you might land. The point is to keep on singing.

    I stumbled on this wonderful performance by accident, while I was looking for something else, as one does on RUclips. It is only the second performance of this piece that I have ever heard, the first being Pavarotti's forty years ago on a local classical music station here in New York. I just found Pavarotti's performance (or something very like it) at ruclips.net/video/YtjzMsHuk6U/видео.html It is, of course, invidious to compare the two: Pavarotti was on a concert stage and Cai was in more austere surroundings, Pavarotti was in mid-career and Cai is at an early stage, etc. But the reason for the comparison is to look at the accompanists. Pavarotti's was discreet, and stayed in the background while the singer evoked the dual emotions of suffering and love that the words call for. Cai was, as always, textured and nuanced, and you can see it in his facial expressions, but the sound was trampled on by the relentlessly loud and mechanical hammering of the pianist. So, Cai, I would love to see this done again, but with an upgraded pianist. And, selfishly, I hope you apply to Juilliard before too long!

    • @Toxophilus
      @Toxophilus 10 месяцев назад +1

      I've discovered an even more unfair comparison. I recently found Gigli's 1947 performance at ruclips.net/video/iMkZdy_oByg/видео.html
      Compared to Pavarotti's interpretation, Gigli's is lilting and optimistic, and it evokes much less of the suffering and much more of the joy in the text.

Don't forget that a little facial expression is always a useful tool, especially as a singer is also a storyteller.

    Cai!!! 😍We've been waiting for a long time :). Your voice - a baritone with a beautiful velvety color - has already been formed. You want it to reach its full mature depth and you take your time so as not to force it. But there is already enough time (more than half a year) to reveal yourself to us.... unless your excessive aspirations do not allow you to do so now... because you prefer a more refined audience.... It would be unfortunate if you he withdrew altogether, gave up for some reason, having such a unique voice 💯👍👏🎶🎤❤☀😃🐯🐬..... Piotr from Warsaw
