It has been a few days since we all heard that Paul has passed away and like all of you I have left a comment on his last video. I feel moved to leave my last comment on this video, because the day that this video was published was a good day for me in a otherwise very hectic life. at that time I only had three things that gave me joy and comfort and they were a little dog, a little cat and Paul’s videos. My little dog passed away three years ago, and my little cat passed away in May of this year and now Paul has died. I think God that presently my Life is good, I finally have everything that I’ve always wanted. but I can’t help thinking of those days when this video was published. today, as I was drinking coffee with my wife, I couldn’t hold back and started crying. I told her I was very happy that I found her and thankful for everything that we have in our lives right now. To my little dog, Rosie, my little cat Zuzu and to Paul; I want to thank all of you for being there when I needed all of you the most and that I will see all of you again when I get to the other side!!!

It was at that moment the squirrel woke up, I didn't know what the heck was going on, and so I freaked out and fell in the water. The squirrel finally made his way out and jumped off my head to the bank. Lol ended up getting scratch up pretty good, a couple of stitches and a rabbi shot later I learned the valuable lesson of making sure they are in fact dead before I pick them up.

I’ve had a decapitated rabbit kick hard 45 minutes later (my dog leaves presents on the doorstep... I guess it’s the thought that counts right?), so anyways, a headless zombie rabbit kicking when I picked it up almost made me pee myself, that was almost slightly traumatic. So just an FYI for anyone reading, rabbits will suddenly convulse at random times after dead.
You can make them drop and slide to a stop instantly with a headshot, but even if you wait 20 minutes (because it did freak me out previously, so I waited), when you pick them up like by the legs even though they didn’t so much as twitch before they will randomly kick hard and flail about (which got that thing tossed like an Olympic thrower like 40 ft in the air followed by my scream as a kid... then waited another 10 minutes and it did it a second time... yeah they just do that). They are dead, just don’t panic (you’ll totally panic, so by that I just mean don’t let people see you, haha!)

You are right Paul. I did not remember your name and was searching RUclips for more of your videos a week after watching one from a link from another video from someone else. I only found you again because of that coat. That is a really great idea that you had.

Hey I got the brown one you showed off! Picked it up off ebay for about the price you mentioned. Couldn't figure out what the game bag was, glad you explained. Having tried a new shooting jacket it just doesn't hold up to the quality of a jacket made in the 60s for some reason. Mine had twigs and leaves in the pockets so I know it came from a good home lol

Awesome Paul. Another reason for wearing the same clothing was for filming. The characters could shoot any scene, at any time, because there was little to no wardrobe change. The reason was completely practical.

Thanks for a small glimpse into your personal attire.
I wear duster coats, yes the long black coats. It took me quite a while to actually find a what I would consider a real functional duster coat. And then the duster coat that I found the actual cape on the shoulders that makes a duster coat a duster coat the cape wasn't that long so when it does rain outside and the water goes to whisk away partially runs down the lower small of your back.
But you are correct sir we live in an age where were more fashion oriented then function oriented.

My uncle gave me his coat, which was very similar to the one worn in this video, back in the mid 60’s. Still had pheasant blood on it around the game bag. Wore that coat for over 20 years.

I have a very similar Sears jacket and matching "Brush Buster" pants with heavy vinyl on the front of the legs, great for walking through briars.
I never did much bird hunting, but there have been many a rabbit and squirrel in the game pouch. Good for warming your hands on a cold winter hunt.
Thanks for all the videos Paul.

A hunting jacket with handwarmer pockets and cartridge pockets is pretty standard in the UK. A game pocket not so much but to be honest you're not going to fit more than one pheasant or rabbit or a couple of woodpigeon in there anyway. You need a game bag for that or some string.

    •  6 лет назад +2

srspower. That pouch will hold everything you'd need it to. Where I'm at, we have a two pheasant per day limit as well as a five rabbit per day limit.

    • @srspower
      @srspower 6 лет назад +5

Well It's nowhere near enough for me, we have no limits for any vermin or game here in the UK.

Poachers pocket? They exist. In UK it's more waxed canvas or Tweed traditionally tho

I grew up in Fl so I had the vest version of this jacket, and it was handed down to me by my father. My guess is that it was 30 years old when I got it back in the mid 70's. The game bag back pouch saw many a dove, quail, squirrel, and even the occasional duck ;-) Never knew they were so expensive!!! Thanks for the show and tell sir !!!
