What a wonderfully weird name: Sarcastic Fringehead. Sounds like a band.
sweet name for a indie band, for sure!!!
@Stephanie Logan ...😂
Sarcasm actually comes from the Greek word sarkasmos, which roughly translates to “rend or tear flesh”, so it’s name basically is “flesh ripping Fringehead”
And if a band named like that.
"It sounds like a 🐟"
Jkjkjk
😂
*Sarcastic Fringehead:* "Oh, hey, why don't you come into my shell?? I _totally_ won't eat you..."
When it opens its mouth wide it looks like the Demogorgon
2:47 huge demogorgon vibes indeed.
Looks like my mother-in-law.
Colin Campbell hahahaa true
I was just thinking this as I was watching it!
As someone who was only familiar with the two-headed baboon snake tail Demogorgon I was somewhat confused...
Sarcastic fringehead: Wow, you must be quite popular with the ladies with those looks
Octopus: thanks I needed that tod.....
Sarcastic fringehead: I WAS JOKING
Stephanie logan actually fringe heads diet is manly made of crabs and crustaceans!
Just outstanding 😍😍😍
The sound effects make it sound like a old Chinese movie between the octopus and the fish💀
May I ask which Chinese movie or you just make up the story
And the crunching sounds when it ate that crustacean. At least I think it was a crustacean.

I’m pretty much an animal video addict and this is one of the best I’ve ever seen. What a creature! They’re like the bearded dragons of the sea.

“A thing may be too sad to be believed or too wicked to be believed or too good to be believed; but it cannot be too absurd to be believed in this planet of frogs and elephants, of crocodiles and cuttle-fish.” G. K. Chesterton
So true.
Whoever named that species is a genius. It's one of my favourite Attenborough scenes of all time, just because the fish and their name are so silly and well-matched.
I thought the fish was actually sarcastic...
I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought so (grin) I was going to say that this "sarcastic" fish is my spirit animal :)
The "Sarcastic" in its name comes from the non-standard use of sarcastic that refers back to the word's origin (Sarcasm is derived from the Greek word “sarkazo”, which means “to tear flesh”)
So basically It's name is "Flesh tearing Fringehead"
@@seandewar47 Ok but a name like "fringehead" really should be "sarcastic" in nature to offset the ridiculous name :)
Did you think the fish was a late night host or a stand-up newbie?
Total disappointment
When it opens its mouth, it's like that scene from Jurassic Park 😭
And sounds like it too
That scene from Jurassic Park...oh! You mean when Nedry is eating...

"Here's a fun fact: the words “sarcastic” and “sarcasm” come from the Greek word sarkasmos, meaning “to tear or rend flesh”. And so I introduce to you the Sarcastic fringehead - a ferociously fierce and territorial fish. The 'fringehead' part of the name comes from the little fringe-like appendages above their eyes. And of course, the ‘sarcastic’ bit relates to their highly aggressive nature. I’m sure if they could talk, they would be nastily witty too."

Whoever named this fish has my undying gratitude. I am sorely tempted to revise my hairstyle and also become a sarcastic fringe head.
Notice how the octopus creates bright blue false eyes to confuse the attacker and protect its real eyes. Truly a remarkable feat of intelligence and adaptation
SARCASTIC FRINGEHEAD???!!!??? Sounds like an insulting name Sheldon Cooper would use🤣🤣🤣
@Jason Karl Yup. Oh yeah, when that fish pops out of his shell I expect to hear "BAZINGA PUNK!!!"
You can tell the person who named this fish passed on a bit of their own personality.

Also props to BBCs sfx team. The sound and music is sharp as ever been/

Beautiful underwater photography! What astonishing diversity of life! Looking around at the life surrounding the "star" of the show, my mouth fell open in amazement and admiration, unconsiously mirroring the star's performance. I wonder how it go that name-
"Oh look at you with all your arms. If you were faster, I would actually be intimidated. Look at me, though. Expecting something with tentacles to have good reach. My b."
Sadly the reality is more boring than that. Apparently, "sarcastic" has its roots in a term meaning "to cut flesh".
I bet this fish would be quite the snarker if it could talk though!
