The Ultimate ears Megaboom is the UE Boom on steroids. It is twice as big and sounds much better in every department. The bass definitely improved from the previous version but it's still pretty flat, especially, when you listening at lower volumes. Considering the price of the speaker which is $300, it's priced amongst the higher end portable speakers like the Bose Soundlink 3 and the Beats Pill XL. Unfortunately, it will not give you the same sound quality like those higher end speakers will.
On the other hand, it has some features that all those other speakers lack, for instance, it is completely Waterproof so you can drop it into water and leave it in there. Try doing that with a Bose Soundlink Mini or a 3! It can also be controlled via an app which you can download for you Apple iOS and your Android devices from the app store.
With this app you will be able to controls features like, making custom equalizer settings, rename the speaker, set an alarm, control sound features and even update your firmware.

I've received my ue megaboom today and I have to say the bass on this unit has blown my expectations. I've had a pill xl and a bose sound link 3. It bumps the bass up to those categories of bose and beats. I honestly thought it wouldn't be as loud. Don't believe if people say if the megaboom is not good. I am satisfied!
Paddletatoe 77 yea bro I agree with you . I also have the UE Megaboom also . It's a great and awesome speaker . The bass and sound is awesome and loud too . It's way better then Beats xl pill and also better then JBL speaker. This speaker is great and I am glad I got the UE Megaboom.
I am one who is also impressed with the megaboom. It is great in all of the things. But the best the is the clarity of it.

Well then you like non existent bass. It rolls off at 150hz, so there is no deep bass, just boosted.
Some may like it, but for me it is horrible.
Also the Megaboom distorts and compresses at higher volumes

Really appreciate your review. I just bought one of these today and was trying to figure out how to plug the USB charger (I was worried about breaking something - that setup at the bottom isn't exactly intuitive.).

i've had a lot of speakers..this speaker for me wins. loud bass and fills the space not to forget the extra features.

DJ MAGGIXX They are very different speakers. It's hard to say which is better or worse. I guess it depends on what you need it for! The Marley is definitely a lot cheaper which might be a big deciding factor.
But talking on quality which one is the best?

Disagree. A few of my friends got this masterpiece for more than 5 years, and still working at its best. About the sound I even more disagree, but about the price - you got to pay that extra dollar for quality. That's it.
Matiss Stein How can they've had this thing for 5 years? It didn't even exist 3 years ago. The sound is very unbalanced. There is no "real" bass, only some upper bass, that sounds like bass to people with no experience. It got outperformed by the Jbl Charge 3 f.i. It's smaller, lighter, much cheaper, as durable, as loud, reaches deeper, less intermodulation problems, way stronger battery, can charge external devices, has nice looking passive radiators on the side, and just sounds a lot better. Not this treble heavy upper bass boosted sound. It is extremely unbalanced.

Did you even change the eq settings back to normal? Plus bass boost makes a huge difference because there are no actual subwoofers but 2 bass resonators for the 2 drivers

This is one of the best bluetooth speakers because they even give you not 1 but 2 year warranty and how to replace the battery so if your tech savvy you could give it a bigger battery with even more mAh's to give it much longer life. The procedure in the box on how to remove the battery.

Im actually probably just going to get a second soundlink 3 I have the wiring and mini portable speaker amp so getting a second 3 would be eassier/cheaper then getting 2 UE Megabooms~
The UE's would be a eassier setup and probably a simpler charge but the Soundlinks last long enough that I can have them just all plugged in at the end of my shift/work lol

Hard to tell the difference in sound... the way you had the MB standing up meant the sound was going left and right instead of facing the speaker towards the camera... like the Bose... it’s like turning the Bose to one side, of course the sound would sound low/bad. Hands down MB beats Bose and JBL, imho. Bestbuy has it for 99.99 right now... think it’s the last day.

360 degree sound means it has two 180 degree drivers, so it can fill a room from the center. It doesn't mean it's going to magically create surround sound.

miespost The megaboom is a great speaker don't get me wrong, but it just doesn't sound as good as some of the other speakers in the same category. For me the ruggedness and water resistance doesn't mean that much cause I don't use my speakers outside

Good video but fyi, you can turn the speaker on through the app, you havee to tap on the image of the speaker.
This speaker is nothing but problems I have to knock on the battery literally or it won’t play my music loose connection maybe I have no idea second off I have to have it on the charger also for it to play music if I take it off it stops playing music I already reset it multiple times.

The Megaboom is a bit of a joke.. Some features are nice, but when it comes to sound and battery life, it doesn't live up to what they claim. The sound is pretty bad/average, and the battery life isn't any close to 20 hours.

Jbl Xtreme will do the job very good, and if you want a bit smaller, go for the Jbl Charge 3. They sound amazing.
