I lived in Indiana from 1958 till the present, I became a Colts fan in 1963 at the age of 10, and have been a loyal fan all my life, I was ecstatic when my favorite NFL team moved to Indianapolis, Mayor Hudnut and the city took a huge chance building a stadium without a team, I would say just as big a chance as Bob Irsay did when he spent every dime he had and borrowed more to buy the team. When the Maryland General Assembly moved to claim the Colts as Immenent Domain, I believe that was the straw that broke the camels back. Go Colts!
I am a huge Colts fan but can understand the resentment and anger older Baltimore fans may still feel to this day towards the Indy Colts and old man Irsay.
I don’t…. the city was literally trying to steal the team from him. They voted for and passed eminent domain either that same night he left or just shortly before or shortly after.
I gotten asked one time if I was Balt colts fan or Indy I respectfully said I from Erie PA I only know Ind. Colts football born in 95 fan sense 2004 when colts took our hometown hero from Erie Pa himself Mr. HitMan Bob sanders Colts Nation grew in me as I gotten older it’s runs through my blood today love them dawgs in blue thanks for this story much needed piece of history I enjoyed listening to #ColtsNation4Life
Outside of my 3 children, the Colts have been the shining start to a sometimes rough life. I will always bleed blue, and hope my firstborn, Peyton and her two sisters will too.
I was embarrassed each time l read things B. Irsay said. However, Rosenbloom lied to him and he was bleeding money. I hope this series brings up how the city passed eminent domain to obtain control of the Colts just before the move which contributed to their hasty departure.
Irsay got the colts for $5 million and turned his family into billionaires. These teams were worth $20 million and getting cities to pay $50 million for stadiums. Incredible business.
It worked out for both cities in the end. We got the Colts and they got the Ravens. It's still embarrassing that the Ravens have more Super Bowls than we do with 12 less years though...all during the Manning and Luck era.🤦🏻♂️
@3vilc878 Colts went to two Super Bowls in Indy, but only won one. Only thing in the Manning era, we ran into Brady and the damn Patriots alot and if that didn't happen, maybe would have had 3 or 4 super bowls possibly.
@JH-ot5mn I understand that, but that superbowl belongs to Baltimore. I don't count that towards to Indianapolis era. Baltimore have more championship and Super Bowl wins total. I wish Peyton could have been in more Super Bowls when he played. NE got in the way of everyone. But the Colts ran into Pittsburgh and San Diego as well.
Stopping the video after 14 seconds to say this... I am extremely doubtful that this recording, produced by the Irsay-owned Colts organization, is going to be in any way truthful about Bob Irsay and his dirty dealings. This is the type of project that is incapable of overcoming sponsor bias. I hope I'm wrong but bet I'm not. Carry on.
Bob Irsay was no Saint, but most of the blame goes to the Baltimore politicians who, refused to allow a new stadium be built, then tried to claim imminent domain on the team to keep them from moving. No business owner would put up with that.
I'm from Indiana. I was 13 years old when the Colts came HOME to Indianapolis. Baltimore is a hell hole! It was a fantastic move for Bob Irsay. Although I love Indiana, I would have moved to Arizona. Much better weather 🌡️.

the team was already trying to leave but trying to seize the team was what led to how the team left
I'm loving this series so far. The move happened one year after i was born, is great finally hearing in depth history behind it

The city of Baltimore was damnear being unreasonable and trying to take the irsays team from them, what were they supposed to do just let them do it?
Idk why my comment was deleted but they were trying to steal the team from him…
I get why they're mad, but they need to be mad at the city of Baltimore too. Either way, it worked out for both cities in the long run.
Ur not a colts fan. Cannot wait

JJ was cooking with straight fire during that intro. "This is the story."
I love the colts I am so happy they moved even though I was born 1 year after the Super Bowl that they won in Indy
Maaan. I'm getting old lol

My dad would have both loved and hated this podcast. Irsay was the antichrist in our house. He boycotted the NFL for 16 years after this day.
You guys couldnt put video with this?
There are other docs that have footage and interviews from mayflower employees
Seen a documentary a few years ago through PBS wfyi documentary on how the Indianapolis Colts came about coming to Indianapolis it was a Tripp 😂
All hail king Bob irsay.

Colts have 2 Super Bowls. Ravens just caught up with us.

@@trzl4916The Colts gave 2 Super Bowl wins, one in Baltimore , one in Indianapolis.

They only have one more because one player couldn't reel in that onside kick lol. That's the only difference. Period. @@trzl4916
Those damned Republicans and their honor and respect for those who served!
Remember Baltimore stole the original Cleveland Browns.
