Paul, you are that famous! haha at least to us!...I love this tour! It's a heaven! This beautiful roses, gosh! breathtaking! Thank you Paul for sharing!
Good afternoon Paul. What a coincidence! I was about to call a sales rep.at David Austin roses . I’ve recently planted 4 Austin roses including the “poets wife and desdemona”. I hope to plant many more in the future. Although they are small now,my level of excitement has never been higher in anticipation of seeing them fully mature. Thanks for the timely video and tour. Loved it!
Hi Douglas, there are so many roses that it’s also a nice coincidence that I featured two that you’ve just planted. Watching them grow is indeed exciting. Glad you liked the tour.
What a treat to be taken on this beautiful tour. Thank you, Paul! I started planting David Austin roses in my zone 5a garden a couple of years ago. Having good luck with the shrub roses. Planted a rambling and a climbing rose this spring. I’m a bit nervous as to how they’ll do since I suspect the roots will survive but everything above ground will die each winter. I hope you’ll take us on more tours. I’m especially grateful for the specific plant information in your video 🙏🏻
I started two years ago in zone 6b. Our winters are not as they used to be, so all the five DA have survived until today. At present the problem is lack of water, it hasn't rained for two weeks and the temperature is above 30 degrees Celsius every day. It's going to be 36 on Thursday.
@@MadCityBells Thank you for the crossed fingers! I don't use tap water in the garden, I water the plants with rainwater which I carry in watering cans. My biceps seem to enjoy the regular work-out ;-)
Oh, thank you, Paul! David Austin roses are my all time favourites ❤. I built my entire garden around them. They are so tough and so lovely 😊. God bless you, Friend 😊
I never knew that there were repeat flowering rambling roses, so thanks for highlighting them. I have 'Whiter shade of pale'. It is a good repeat flowering rose. It goes on for months.
You my friend, are fast becoming my favorite flower gardener on RUclipsr!!! Love your work viewing and educating on roses. From the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas, Thank You!!!
Thanks Paul. It was wonderful to see Arbor after Arbor filled with beautiful blooms. It was a nice treat to watch & filled my heart. God bless you all & bring more such treats. Thanks.
Thanks Paul for that fantastic tour of David Austin. I always wanted to see it and hopefully visit sometime. Keep up the good work. Michael in the West of Ireland.
Paul, thank you so much! It was an amazing journey with you! I’ve just planted Lady Of Shalott in my young garden and it’s amazing too, it’s so beautiful and different every day. The garden is my only one pleasure now. I hope by all my soul that times will change and once I will see this wonderful park by my own eyes. And thank you very much for your slow and calm speech, I learn English and your videos helps me on my way.
Hello Elena, I am so pleased you enjoy my videos and find them useful for your English. I can see from your message that you are very accomplished in my language. I know that learning a language is a long but rewarding process that requires perseverance and dedication. You obviously possess both of these wonderful traits. How nice you have the beautiful Lady of Shalott and delight in the garden you are developing. May the growing plants give you the strength you require.
You and your garden are an inspiration to me as I am also a gardener and RUclips creator. I can see you put a lot of work and love into growing your garden! It’s amazing to see the new growth update. My sunflowers bloomed today it was amazing. I still have so much to learn and I appreciate all of your tips, tricks and advice that you share! Lets learn together as we grow together.
Love all the beautiful roses!! I have a lady banks rambling rose that I planted 2 years ago. This past spring was the first time it flushed out roses. It looked beautiful. I wish it was a repeat but it only flowers once a year. I need to plant more roses, I don't have enough. Thank you for sharing this video. 🌹
Glad you enjoyed the Gardens. I went in as it opened on a day during the week so it wasn’t crowded for the first couple of hours. I was quite pleased how relaxed it was. In the Summer you do have to book (which is free) a three hour time slot.

Yes, wouldn’t it be great to be able to include the fragrances in the video! I am pleased I was able to give a ‘flavour’ of the Rose Gardens to anyone who hasn’t visited.
Thanks Paul. I was just there Thursday! It’s a glorious place. Michael Marriot, who was the head rosarian there for over 30 years has a book just out on roses that’s fantastic too.
Thank you so much for this beautifully filmed and narrated tour, and the detailed guidance about the differences between caring for rambling and climbing roses, as well as the characteristics of many other types of roses. 🌸🌺 So helpful! Their catalogue is wonderful, but your film well surpasses it in allure and inspiration!

Lovely tour, thanks for bring us along. Interesting too seeing the Roses for sale, the ones that looked near empty. I planted Emily Bronte this spring, and Tranquillity last Autumn. Lastly, whiter shade of pale, had to search those lyrics, great song that one is.
How nice getting these big-name roses. Many of the names are new to me. As soon as I saw ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’ I immediately thought of the Moody Blues and Justin Haywood - until the 60s part of my brain got into gear and recalled Procol Harum. I was trying to remember the lyrics as well! How can we forget “We skipped the light fandango”.
What a wonderful experience Paul, thank you very much for this video. I can't get there now and will enjoy looking at this again and again. (I wonder how many you bought>)
How lovely thank you Paul for your superb tour, everything looking splendid in the sunshine, I'm going next week. Yes Harlow Carr is in Harrogate I used to live around the corner from there :) I bought Ghislaine de Féligonde from Albrighton several years ago, she's a fabulous repeat rambler not too vigorous for a pergola and has a wonderful fragrance and no thorns! which is a welcome bonus. Of course when we moved at the end of last year she had to come with us.
Have a great time when you visit. So interesting you have a repeat flowering rambler - can you tell me about Ghislaine de Féligonde. Does it repeat flower in flushes? How often? Do you deadhead then it repeat flowers? No thorns but nice fragrance sounds perfect!!!!
@@paultsworld Hi Paul, yes it repeats throughout the season I find it becomes more pink toned as the season progresses and fades to a soft blush while earlier in the season it's mostly apricot and peach tones that fade through lemon to the palest creamy white. It's very neat in it's habit and easy to deadhead as the blooms are dainty and tightly held they stay put until you nip them off no mess at all and because it's thornless it's user friendly too! I just nip them off as they fade and more and more buds follow behind it's quite profuse. It really is a lovely rambler and has a sweet honey/myrrh fragrance.
@@paultsworld Oh fab I hope you do, no thorns is a winner I have been 'bitten' several times already this season from my roses and I am careful! She is easy to control as she is short - some ramblers can really get away. I do like climbers but they drop petals everywhere especially at the moment we've had some windy and wet days - there is something so very appealing about the dainty ramblers that hold on to their clusters no matter the weather, I was out early this morning picking up petals and there was Ghislaine just nodding at me not one petal dropped just a couple of dead-ish heads to nip off 😊
Hi Paul, I'd be in my element there and would come home with loads. My Rambling Rector is in a pot too and I am very happy with the display I get every year. Thank you so much for posting such a lovely video.
@@paultsworld Hi Paul, I dig out some of the old compost from the top of the pot, add in some fresh plus a shovel of the farmyard manure that I buy in bags from the garden centre. Since I've been adding the manure they've really improved. The watering can get a bit tedious as I have lots of plants in containers. I was interested to see from your video that the roses were the same price as Gordale's. Burleydam's were five pounds dearer so I felt a bit miffed when I realised this.
Hi Wendy, that is strange as normally Burleydam is cheaper than Goredale. Check out Garden House Nurseries, Chester High Rd (A540), Neston CH64 3TH for some bargains on shrubs & perennials - they don't have the 'named' roses but are well worth a general browse.
Thank you Paul. This tour made my heart sing. Many years ago my father had a rose garden that he cherished so this brought back nice memories.
That’s lovely Jacqueline, that this rose garden brought back such nice and important memories. Thank you for letting me know. 🌸

Thank you for such a lovely detailed reply.
I am going to have to get one… I love this repeat flowering - fragrance and no thorns.
@@paultsworld Oh fab I hope you do, no thorns is a winner I have been 'bitten' several times already this season from my roses and I am careful! She is easy to control as she is short - some ramblers can really get away. I do like climbers but they drop petals everywhere especially at the moment we've had some windy and wet days - there is something so very appealing about the dainty ramblers that hold on to their clusters no matter the weather, I was out early this morning picking up petals and there was Ghislaine just nodding at me not one petal dropped just a couple of dead-ish heads to nip off 😊
I need to go back to David Austin and get one - you've sold me on it!
Hi Paul, I'd be in my element there and would come home with loads. My Rambling Rector is in a pot too and I am very happy with the display I get every year. Thank you so much for posting such a lovely video.
Hi Wendy, that's great your rambler rector is in a pot and doing well. You must water and feed it plenty?
@@paultsworld Thanks for that Paul as I'd not heard of that nursery. I'll definitely take a visit. Looking forward to watching your next video.
Hope you see something of interest - they do an 'any 4 for £20' selection.
Hi Paul, beautiful roses, my favourite love them, gosh good job I wasn't there I'd be buying them all 😂😂💗👍
I’d love to see you walking round there - pushing a shopping trolley with one hand and waving a credit card in the other! Lol
@@paultsworld yes definitely ha ha 😂
Amazing tour! Thank you👩🌾💕
