Finally, someone mentioned it "Enjoy the Show" message, I figured it was an old Entertainment Amphitheater repurosed for these detestable games, which make the message sound just plain sinister. Like the drones are repurposed from the war, that's why they are deadly and ineffective as delivery mechanism for donations.
I think that Snow poisoned Highbottom because he was an enemy and a loose end. If Highbottom ever found out that Snow informed on Sejanus he would tell.
In my humble opinion, this movie COOKS. Also, I just finished reading the book. The ending with Lucy Gray is definitely written so well. As for Snow´s betrayal of Sejanus, he did not think Sejanus would die when he snitched on. He thought Sejanus ´s dad would buy his way out of trouble.
i think that just something snow said to himself to be okay with snitching on him in the first place,i dont think he actually believed that he would be able to get out of it
He saw Gaul not care that a Capitol child would die after being bitten by one of her snakes. He can't plead ignorance to anticipation of her reaction to treason.
yes, I got the same feeling about his betrayal of Sejanus in the movie. It seems to me that he truly believed Sejanus wouldn't get in that much trouble.
I think what didn't translate well on screen from the books is the disdain Snow felt for pretty much everyone around him (especially Sejanus, that poor boy could do nothing right in Snow's eyes) and the nature of his feelings for Lucy Gray being more possessiveness and seeing her as an object and some sort of prize (he constantly thinks she "belongs to him" from the very beginning etc). But that's not the fault of the writers or actors at all. It's just hard to show that on screen since it all Snow's internal dialogue and this movie perfectly shows how he portrays himself to everyone around him. Also Tom Blyth has so much chemistry with both Rachel and Josh that it's hard not to feel he's being genuine. Unfortunately that means people who haven't read the books sometimes tend to misunderstand his character to a certain extent and believe he started out as a genuinely good person who just turned bad throughout the movie, rather than understanding he's not been a good person at any point, he's just gotten worse. Sorry, this was rambly, I hope this makes sense
I actually like the pacing of the final scene more in the movie than in the book tbh. In the book everything was so long and detailed *but* this scene, so it felt rushed even when it's the climax. Meanwhile in the movie we get a normal pacing *till* that scene, where everything stops for like two entire minutes and it's just silence and Tom's freaking amazing acting through just his face expressions.
the book is definitely worth reading, and btw snow didn't "forget" that he snitched on sejanus, he just genuinely thought that his father would once again be able to get him out of this (he hated sejanus btw so that still doesn't make him a good friend but he didn't think he would be hanged)
Well he is an unreliable narrator and he passed the military test thing with flying colours- he’d know what is defined as treason and what happens to traitors. I think he did know Sejauns would be killed- he tries to convince himself that he is doing the right thing by saying that to himself but I think deep down he knows what he is doing. He is smart, calculated.

Coryo realised dr gaul was going to use the snakes bc she used the phrase "rainbow of destruction" when she first showed them to him and then later on TV.
Lucy Grey wrote the song about the man hanged earlier in the movie! Tigris also probably just leaned into her name! Cosmetic enhancements got very big in the Capitol and things like whiskers weren't uncommom for Capitolites to get!
The forest as well as the lake and the fields in district 12 were filmed in Poland, also the arena is an old world war 2 building in Wrocław, Poland. A lot of capitol shots were also filmed in Germany it's so cool
That forest at the end… my god when I first watched this in the cinema. It looks exactly like the forest back home where I grew up, in Germany. It make me feel so much more in this scene because I felt like I knew it. It kinda messed with my head hahah
I will say I the book they definitely make snow much more capitol leaning which i thinks makes sense rather that him having such a quick turn around in the movie. I mean he obviously prefers the capitol but the book version of snow definitely resembles more of a person who has been socially conditioned to believe in the capitols supremacy and be a total a hole. No seriously he’s literally such and an A hole in the books

in the scene where Lucy Gray sings the song she wrote for Coryo, the movie actually changes the way the scene plays out 😭 not to spoil too much, but in the book, Coryo sits there and cries at her singing about him, and it honestly makes their relationship even more real and meaningful, which adds to the shock and sadness the reader feels at the end. I wish they would have kept that scene the same in the movie - it seems to me that they tried to dwindle down the depth of their relationship, and I’m honestly not sure why that is…I loved the forbidden romance that we got in the book!

I really liked the book but I think people tend to forget that Snow is a very unreliable narrator so all of his justifications and concessions that led him to betray everyone he “loved” weren’t just innocent mistakes but cold, calculated moves to get him to the top. So when he says things like “oh I didn’t know Sajanus would die or I wouldn’t have killed Lucy Gray” you know he’s lying because it’s clearly shown in the books that Snow knows Dr Gaul has no problems killing children and that Snow will certainly kill (even when he doesn’t necessarily have to) in order to keep himself alive. Snow at every point in the book put himself above all others including keeping Lucy Gray alive in the arena and smart readers shouldn’t forget that, especially considering where and how Snow ends up. That’s also why I also like the movie where we’re a bit out of Snow’s head and it’s easier to see how messed up and unnecessary most of his actions are to protect himself.
fun fact, i literally couldn't wait for the book to be delivered and went to the theater first lol. but watching this reaction, I think I am also legit a page or two away from the zoo scene ahaha

To be fair the pacing was never gonna be perfect so I can overlook it. Even in the book the pacing is wonky af. Suzanne could’ve easily cut out 50 pages of the book and made it more condensed and proportioned the 3 acts better - but it’s her book and it’s hunger games content so I ain’t complaining lol The main thing about the movie I was worried about was the “love story”. They didn’t manage to accurately convey Snows possessive and scary thoughts about Lucy Gray, but it’s a movie, so yknow it’s never gonna have the same context as a book. However, it has made movie only watchers to have more of a diverse opinion on Snow as a character, and Lucy Gray. Some people going as far to say that Snow sacrificed everything for Lucy Gray - like no? 😂
Katnis is related to lucy greys covey folk, and coin is her daughter. I think she might be snows daughter or the other guy that snow killed the ex boyfriend.
The book is so good!!1 Like I would love to hear your thoughts on it in a video. It has such a good unreliable narrator in the form of Snow who is such a complex character.
This whole story for me works best as a prologue for Snow's ascension and how integral he is to creating the Panem that we see in the original trilogy. It leaves me wanting to see THAT story and I care more about that than the Ballad of Song Birds and Snakes. It took me so long to work out why Collins chose to make Lucy Gray embody both the song bird and the snake which are diametrically opposed symbols in the original trilogy: she represents a choice for Snow to serve others or to serve himself and unfortunately for Snow he does not see that he can end the struggles in his life by choosing to be selfless and he is too driven by his hatred of the districts and the blame he places on them for the situation he is in at the start of the novel and the death of his father. The added layer of seeing value in APPEARING to be a caring giving person while meticulously working out how it will serve his own needs make it much more interesting to a reader and add a kind of deliciousness to it that is really exciting to read and through this appearance of caring leading to ultimately furthering self interest, Collins created a spark of hope for Snow and contained it very well. . Also, when death happens as an unintended consequence of his decisions, it is easy to see how he comes to view people who die as collateral damage and less important than the goal he is aiming to fulfil. I also really loved the rainbow of destruction metaphor and the rainbow in the final scene was just perfect
Everything would of been perfect if he wouldn’t betrayed his best friend (although in his defense he really thought his dad could pay/help him out like he always did) I wonder how he sleeps at night knowing the money he’s gonna use is tainted with his former best fiends blood also ngl I wish we seen more kisses (I know is not a love story but damn the feels 🦋) a great plot twist would of been Lucy great surviving and being pregnant with his kid and keep in it a secret somewhere rising the child away from capitol darkness
it was never a love story they liked each other but they mostly manipulated each other except Lucy was trying to survive and Snow was always an asshole
Sir Janos and Corelanius are the perfect example of nature versus nurture. Sir Janos grew up in the capital and was nurtured to love the games but because of his good nature he hates them. And Snow also grew up in the Capital but he's also nurtured by his friends Sir Janos, Tigris and Lucy to hate tthe games and be a better man. @@purplepeopleeater8393 she deleted that post because yall made it weird. he isn't much older than we thought, they literally have a six year age gap. and im sorry, it would be weird if he started dating her as soon as she turned 18 but it wasn't like that between them at all until much later. the way y'all are acting is just because you're shipping her w tom blyth who, MIND YOU, is the SAME AGE josh is.
@@bella-je5yc when the hell did I say anything about Tom? Assumptions and excuses, left and right…a grown ass adult making “friends” with a 17-18 year old and then going on to date them once they’re of age is questionable no matter what, not sure why you’re so desperate to defend his weirdo behavior 🤨
@@bella-je5yc oh and I could care less about the age gap, it’s the fact that he met her when she was a minor and still had feelings for her. Normal grown adults don’t even associate with people that age, just as a little fyi…
Hi I’ve never commented before but I’ve been here since big mouth! 🫶🏾
I’m so excited for this reaction my teenage self was also excited for this movie. I literally went dressed in theme wore the full on school uniform and I did the Panem symbol as my eyeliner.
Thank you for reacting and editing this 🥳
