I will also say that while I don't think they focused enough on Monica and Carol's healing their relationship, they DID show Carol WAS there for Maria and Monica just didn't know because Carol was keeping away because it was too painful losing her family/loved ones.
I kinda love this movie for some reasons 1. love the chemistry and dynamic between the Three Characters 2. Iman vellani's performance is so good and spot on 3. The mid-credit and post-credit were AMAZINGLY Mind-Blown
The movie needed to be around 20-30 minutes longer, for the emotional beats of the movie to hit harder. Motivations of the villain, Carol -monica relation all would have been fleshed out by that. Even Monica being lost would have hit much harder.
Nahh we dont need to flesh out villain motivation more. Kree in MARVEL are always presented as collective villain. Its their culture that is wrong. Nationalistic, closed minded, arrogant. Captain Marvel, Guardians and Agents of Shield presented them this way. Ronan or Mar-vell were just personification of that. Here is the same. Here we see consequences of their actions from all previous media. How they destroyed their own civilization by their own closed mindedness yet didnt learn anything just becams more aggressive because of it
I agree. My biggest gripe with this movie was that it set up Kamala having to face who Carol actually is, the kinds of choices she has to make-- then abandons that plotline minutes later.
What relationship? We'd have to see more of Child Monica's memories in order to see anything, since Carol forgot her past. In the movie Captain Marvel, monica & Carol didn't do much, other then Monica choosing Carol's colors.
I think that if they had put more emphasis on Carol's relationship with Maria in this movie, even having a moment where they sit down and talk about her, it would have given more emotional impact with her relationship with Monica since Maria is the glue that connected them. Love that Kamala is the emotionally intelligent one because she's still new to everything and she's been surrounded by caring and loving family her whole life. It's why she balances out the other two so well.
I love that Iman is actually writing the Ms Marvel comics now. 22:29 - Not really. Apparently Brie is severely allergic to cats so they actually had to use CG any time she interacted with the Flerkins. Probably why Goose spent most of the movie with Fury. 28:26 - Beast used the code name "Binary" for Maria, which was Carol's code name (and similar to her costume) when she teamed with the X-Men in the comics back in the 80s.
Watching this movie after somewhat hearing the discourse online surrounding it has only confirmed one thing for me: the internet is full of people who love to hate on fun things and people who love to exaggerate everything just for views and/or engagement. This movie was so much fun, and I’m totally watching it again.
This was probably the plot of a third movie. We actually needed to see Monica dealing with longing for someone to talk about her mom or Carol losing her friend. We jump from Monica as a kid to Wandavision where she was dealing with grief over her mom( universal theme) and not Carol.
Zawe Ashton is Tom Hiddleston’s wife and mother of his child. I felt bad for her in this role bc I know she’s a good actress (saw her in the play where she met Tom in NYC and Mr Malcom’s List) and this villain was so one note where she easily could have been multi dimensional. I personally like this movie a lot. I can truly see this as an official Marvel comfort movie for me. Iman carried the whole movie. So proud of her and her first film! In my opinion about Monica in general, she has only been a side character for so long and we never spent true to time with her. Get to know her. See her good and bad a bit. Marvel in general needed more time with her. In this film, we needed to see her past self suffer/confused without carol. We needed to see that pain. But yeah still enjoy the film!
The film makers had a huge missed opportunity with Kamala and Cara's relationship. They could've had Kamala stop fangirling over Cara and worshipping the ground she walks on when she realises Cara is a GENECITAL MURDERER. She starts to stop seeing Carol through rose tinted glasses and starts seeing her as a regular person.
Omg i LOVE THE MARVELS! It’s like a comic book coming to life! The camera work, colors and the action! Omf Brie ❤ she delivered the best Captain Marvel ever - obviously Carol now is for the first time ever - on her own skin! Such a development omg! Her invulnerable hero side and her vulnerable humanity. She started jaded and tired with all the pressure on her shoulders, alone.. and ends up loving being part of a team! We saw more layers to Carol’s personality. Awesome. Oh Kamala oh boy!!!!! She’s a delight! Monica so cool! Everything here is amazing. Their chemistry is out of this world! Goose and the Flerkittens! ❤ The flaws are normal, nothing we haven’t seen in the MCU before. Love it so much! So good to see my fave Captain Marvel back ❤
My favorite film of 2023, The Marvels is simply Marvelous! The hate train is jelly that Marvel fans are eating so well! The Marvels, Loki, What if, Echo, a buffet of great projects!

This movie genuinely really does feel like a comic run, specifically a really fun Marvel Cosmic one that didn’t quite have enough issues to tell it’s story. The characters make it such a great time tho!
I wanted to love it I was one of the few people that I knew that wanted to go to theaters and watch this movie. every single marvel movie I’ve gone to, I’ve at least had fun watching it in theaters even if it wasn’t a great movie but this movie was the first movie I wanted to seriously walk out on. It was just awful and cringe to watch. I hated the singing planet. I hated Ms Marvel fan girling all the fucking time it was getting annoying. Nick’s character seemed to be a little different too. I don’t know why I cant put my finger on it, but he seemed to be out of character for some reason, if it wasn’t for me waiting for the credit scenes I would have walked out

I did feel the emotion between carol and Monica, I love them so much and I remember just crying at the trailer just hearing monica say to carol, I just wanted you my aunt :(
I had a good time watching it. Sad it didn't do better at the box office. It's not perfect (but what movie is?) and it's ok that people have different tastes. The hate it got started even before people even watched the movie so that had nothing to do with the quality/enjoyment of the movie.
It didn't do well because it is SH*T and no one trusts Marvel or Disney to make a good show or movie anymore. When you consistently p*ss off your own audience for years upon years, you tend to lose their support. Even if Marvel creates a masterpiece, now I don't believe it will do well because people don't care about Marvel anymore. They have lost respect for themselves and constantly try to blame the audience for their own sh*t they try to serve.
I enjoyed it a lot but no one else was talking about it so I had no one to discuss it with. Honestly, watching this movie just made me feel really happy.
A flawed film, but one that I actually found to be more fun and entertaining than the first Captain Marvel film in terms of the action and especially the dynamics and chemistry of Carol, Kamala, and Monica
I think that 20 more minutes of Maria/Carol/Monica interactions would've done the movie wonders, but at the same time, I'm not sure it would've really helped. In the first Captain Marvel, Maria has been Carol's emotional anchor. And Monica could have never replaced it, because she and Carol doesn't ACTUALLY know each other. Carol "died" when Monica was 5, so everything she knows about her comes from Maria. And Carol kept track of Monica's achievements, but again, doesn't actually know her as an adult. They're 2 strangers trapped in what feels like an obligatory relationship because of Maria, who isn't there anymore. And while they obviously care about each other, they don't really bother to create any sort of new connection. Maybe it's just me, but I think the endgame should be for each of them to find their own way. I don't think they'll ever be able to see through their pasts and be equals, like Carol and Maria were.
There is flaws with it but overall I had a really good time. Iman Vellani playing Kamala is just as good a casting as Robert Downey Jr as Tony or Chris Evans as Steve Rodgers.
10:35 yeah I was expecting more, especially since the trailers showed a scene that was cut that seemed it would've been emotional between the two of them
To me, the MCU is like a tv series. The Infinity Saga was the first season, and now the Multiverse Saga is the second season. So whether anyone likes it or not, you will have to be caught up to the previous season to understand the next one. So the MCU films and shows aren’t just films and shows, they are episodes to seasons 1 and 2.
People decided before its release that it was bad because they were told to believe it. It’s the same reason people hate on Nickelback, who compared to music in 2024, aren’t that bad. In the 90s, it was cool to hate mimes for no reason. We always need something to hate on. I’m not going to pretend this is Batman (the 1989 version), Superman II or Dark Knight, but at least they’re putting more effort into female driven superhero stories. I’d have liked to have seen a movie with just Ms Marvel or another series with her, but she steals the show here. Here’s hoping they continue to try harder with these female superhero movies. Movies in general recently have been awful and this is hardly one of the worst offenders. Iman Vellani is great and has a bright future. I wish she was in more things. She’s totally believable. She’s like Ralph Macchio, in that she never seems like she’s reading from a script or acting. The other actors aren’t bad and I like Samuel L Jackson, but the script needed work.
No, people hate it because it sucks. It is that simple. You are thinking like a flat Earther. Usually, when you are in the minority for an opinion especially within media, YOU are the problem. Told to believe it was bad? By who? Even if that was the case, it is Marvel and Disney themselves who have given that impression because no one trusts them to make good movies or shows anymore. People have seen She-Hulk and Ahsoka among others and because of the constant sh*t being served, Marvel cannot be trusted to make anything good anymore. That's what happens when you lose respect for your audience, especially your main audience. This is aimed at illogical feminists who aren't actively avid fans of this type of content. MEN are the ones who make-up the majority of superhero fans and the types of shows designed to make the watcher feel bad for being what they are means they will go out of their way to not support your sh*t.
I also liked the film. It was a cool dynamic put the three heroines together. Visually, the film is incredible and the villain isn't as bad as they say. I also liked the humor that a lot of people didn't understand and criticized like the music scene. It was a fun moment in the film and it didn't bother me. From the trailers, I already saw the film's potential and imagined that the advance criticism was unfair. Not the best Marvel movie but it's not as bad as they say
I really regret not watching this on the theater just because I saw the reviews and all the hate and avoided it but it's a very good movie, silly, fun, good CGI, great action sequences, Brie, Teyonah and specially Iman Vellani are AMAZING.
Ms Marvel ..ended up with some "crazy" cosmic [blast] bangle(s) ~ !!!!! 🕵 ..Everyone; seemed to overlook ~ *Power.. that; matched Captain Marvel ..& gave Photon enhanced energy to close the jump-point break . ... . She's got crazy powers now !!
No one can convince me this movie was a failure, this movie was like a comic book brought to life. The fighting, the bright colors, the great comedic moments, and Kamala's fangirling. My only problem with this movie is that it could've used another 30 minutes to flesh out the characters and give a good emotional scene. Even though this movie didn't do good at the box office (no one's fault there was a strike) I hope Feige brings Nia Dacosta back and lets her direct an X-Men Storm movie because this woman has a vision and incredible talent
26:59 it’s hard to work out because Thor was absorbing a neutron star not a just a star and he had to absorb full strength for about several minutes bit Captain marvel wasn’t absorbing anything she just kick started sun which is still a lot don’t get me wrong but what she did was giving more energy for some kind of reaction which was for a second Thor’s was absorbing energy outside of his element for several minutes so it’s a tough one to work out who’s was a greater feat of strength
I saw it twice in theaters. I enjoyed it. I found the first film had more depth, but this film was a crowd-pleaser. I had a good time. Another few minutes could've better set up the emotional beats. All the pieces were there, but they needed more time to develop. This and Guardians 3 should've switched months. This is the fun summer flix for the kids. Guardians was the heavier fall film. The verified theater reviews were good for _The Marvels._
27:03 Actually, Scarlet Witch was confirmed as more powerful than Captain Marvel When asked If Wanda is more powerful than Carol, Kevin Faige said "yes, way more" Yes, Carol has enough power to restore a star, but Wanda was said (by Wong) to be the annihilator of all cosmos, and honestly, that's some Cosmic entity type of sh*t
Alternate Maria is Binary, which is the codename that Carol used when she was a member of the X-Men after Rogue took away her powers. So this Maria is still Captain Marvel, just under a different name.
I waited to watch it at home. I agree with you that Kamala was the bright spot in this film. Take her out and it would have went from a 6 to a 3. The villain had motives, but I really didn't like the casting. She came off as lost and confused half the time, missing that confidence that great villains have in common. The stealing resources by vacuum is literally the plot of Space Balls lol. Kamala's energy and the "Catpocolypse" scene will be the only things I remember a month from now.
I agree with you but in this case the emotional beats need the other projects Endgame wouldn’t have hired without the other films and infinity war to an extent as well
19:55 not all species are protective of their young. I recently found out (thanks to critical role) that Quokkas literally throw their young at predators as a distraction so they can run away. 😂
26:58 feige confirmed she is the strongest. although later he said wanda is the strongest so its not realy that reliable info due to the author's love for running his mouth. as far as on screen feats goes thor still has the bigger feats. what carol did here was entering into a sun that isnt even as hot as a normal sun should be and giving it the jumpstart that it needed to get hotter then leave. thor had to endure the full force of a neutron star. so the endurance and durability goes to thor. if you want know who hits harder, well marvel's what if confirmed that if carol hit without holding back she can open a crater on the planet. age of ultron confirmed that thor can one shot a meteorite that happened to be sokovia
I watched it at an employee screening at Santikos. It was a good movie. I personally liked it. 👍 There were a couple of flaws I notice in the movie, but it doesn’t bother me. And I think people are hating the film way too much. If you don’t like the movie, or if you don’t, wanna watch the movie, then that’s your choice, and that’s your opinion, and I respect it. And I really don’t care about why you don’t like Brie Larson or how you feel about her character, all I can say is that I enjoyed the movie. And I am super excited to see Deadpool 3, I can’t wait to see it. 😁
Honestly, I have tons of questions about the plot holes in this movie but the one question about this that I can't ignore is why was Monica wearing an astronaut suit in the beginning?
For me, much as I enjoyed this movie there were a couple things that could have been improved. 1) the Villain. She was a re-working of a character who appeared twice in all of Marvel comics so few people knew who she was or probably had any interest in her. To me it felt like "oh this is a female led movie so we must not expose them to anyone significant because they are women and this is what we do with women in movies: we make them fight obscure villains who will also be other women." Like they hadn't spent End Game labelling Captain Marvel as OP and then they give her an underwhelming opponent when she's supposed to stand on her own. Also to me her plan seemed crude and heavy handed like assuming you could just drag and drop a star (especially a star), an atmosphere and a water supply from one part of space to another and assuming they would all just be compatible...yeah it wasn't thought through in my opinion and felt like the intelligence of the audience was being underestimated at a time when you can't underestimate your audience because we are looking for logic and plausibility in our fantasy worlds. 2) How did no one in the movie predict that Monica would be stuck in a different dimension? Like am I wrong to assume every audience member saw that coming and they're in the movie like "oh...wait...she can't come back?"
Another thought - I think a bigger problem with the movie is we see that the MCU doesn't know what to do with Carol - it's been 36 years in-universe since she lost her memories, and she still doesn't have them back. They either don't know who Carol should be, or they know they can't adapt it in a movie like The Marvels, which brings another question... why even make it in this format in the first place, then? This movie is, first and foremost, a sequel to the first movie. It's clear that Carol is not mentally in a good place and there's something in her past (she doesn't talk to her family and Maria was the one who got her belongings after her death, she self-exiled for 30 years because she felt unworthy of her family, in her free time she's using the "Skrull torture device" to relive memories, she admits she's been very lonely in space) but none of that is really explored. (Basically, the MCU hired Brie Larson to play Carol, so let her do what she does best and deliever some angst you cowards)
The marvels was so good and Monica was one of the characters that I missed more than kamala and Carol. And I wanted to see more emotion from captain marvel and they removed most of her most emotional moments. Even now she is still suffering from what the kree did to her.
What relationship for Monica? We'd have to see more of Child Monica's memories in order to see anything, since Carol forgot her past. In the movie Captain Marvel, monica & Carol didn't do much, other then Monica choosing Carol's colors.
Best movie with “Memory” in it. Admittedly the competition is actual Cats which was a train wreck (with optional butts). I definitely have my complaints with the movie, and they’re typical MCU complaints (poorly written villain, for example). The tone of the movie is also… I think they were going for fun and lighthearted but that doesn’t really work with Carol’s atonement problem. A dark, brooding movie that deals with Carol’s decidedly mixed background in the comics and the “she’s overpowered” resulting in a Batman v Superman problem (definitely not a movie to model for that conflict of power corrupts, but it’s a good narrative). I dunno. I don’t expect Shakespeare from the MCU, other than Shakespeare in the park, and it was a fun movie despite the flaws, so… it’s fine.
Hey Monica was waiting for your reaction when I saw this in the cinemas it did gave me a bit of Charlies Angels vibes in a way like female villian three female leads of different race
I don't think it was bad. But it did feel like it was made for TV rather than the big screen. Felt like it would make a really great special episode of Ms Marvel, not an MCU cinema release.
@@Travis_D_Travesty that is true it’s another one of her names I just googled it and she has 4 names captain marvel pulsar proton and spectrum but I’ve been playing the snap game and her card comes up as spectrum mostly maybe different names for her through the multiverse

Really loved it so much!!! So fun and funny! Loved the Marvels and great reaction as usual! 😂❤
This was a very fun video. Looking forward to being able to watch it myself on Disney Plus.
A lot of people that trash this movie probably didn't even watch it. Was it perfect? No. Does it have faults? Yes. Was it fun? Yes.
No.
@@jyotiskoghosh8529 Thank you for your opinion, even if you are wrong.
I'm not a Marvel or superhero movie person I really only cared for one or 2 movie but your videos make me want to watch them 😂
Will it be the Young Avengers or the Champions, I wonder. If Kamala is starting it, that implies that we're getting the Champions team.
I'm happy to see someone genuinely enjoy the movie. I enjoyed it a lot as well. Way more than the rest of the phase 4 and 5 movies so far.
I love the movie too. Very fun and entertaining. Only scene I didn’t like was the scene of singing planet.
I loveeeeed the movie so much. thank you for watching. i criedddd when monica got stuck
The movie Was great awesome Action
Oh btw, the antagonist is actually Tom Hiddleston's wife. They met while acting in something together. I can't remember if it was a movie or play.
I liked this movie too!! Haters be hating.
This movie is so fun and a great addition to the MCU. Its what Love and Thunder tried to be and failed.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Marvel movie!!!!😊😊😊😊
I'm watched this with my own ferlken😸
27:03 Actually, Scarlet Witch was confirmed as more powerful than Captain Marvel
When asked If Wanda is more powerful than Carol, Kevin Faige said "yes, way more"
Yes, Carol has enough power to restore a star, but Wanda was said (by Wong) to be the annihilator of all cosmos, and honestly, that's some Cosmic entity type of sh*t
Scarlet Witch is also currently not an Avenger.
But who you think is the strongest and the most powerfull person of them 3 my option caiptan marvel ms marvel and monica rambeau
I agree with you but in this case the emotional beats need the other projects Endgame wouldn’t have hired without the other films and infinity war to an extent as well
I think this the best Marvel movie cuz of Kamala😍
ACTUALLY I LOVED THIS MOVIE AND MOST PEOPLE I KNOW LOVE IT, BUT PEOPLE LOVE TO PAY MORE ATTENTION TO THE NEGATIVE. WE ALL NEE TO STOP DOING THAT.
Honestly, I have tons of questions about the plot holes in this movie but the one question about this that I can't ignore is why was Monica wearing an astronaut suit in the beginning?
The post credit was a big deal to me because they got Kelsey Grammer to come back as Beast
Hopefully we'll get an Extended version someday with more "emotional" or personal scenes.
Hah! Good one 😂
Binary holds both Quantum Bands/Bangle’s too
Movie wasn't bad. I think same people who hate on Taylor Swift are hating on this.
It coming to Disney plus on February 7
I filmed this over a week ago (before the announcement) 🥲☹️
@@MonicaCatapusan ok make sense when you did it and just now uploaded it now.
Kamala Khan carried this movie because she's the only one who's showing some emotion and has some charisma.
The marvels was so good and Monica was one of the characters that I missed more than kamala and Carol. And I wanted to see more emotion from captain marvel and they removed most of her most emotional moments. Even now she is still suffering from what the kree did to her.
BLACK GIRL MAGIC!
Goose eating everything and spitting out might be hints of pregnancy
I enjoyed it as well Monica there seems to be an issue around Bria Lsrson that really doesn't matter to me, glad you enjoyed it too.
I actually liked goofy grandpa Nick Fury. He reminded me of my dad and uncles.
I really enjoyed this film and had a great time watching it. Looking forward to the next one.
Did I miss it or did Kamala get rid of the second bangle? She's not wearing it when she returns to Earth???
Omg you’re so right! I think I had that thought in the cinema but completely forgot about when watching second time round!
she gave it to carol... you know... twinsies
What relationship for Monica? We'd have to see more of Child Monica's memories in order to see anything, since Carol forgot her past. In the movie Captain Marvel, monica & Carol didn't do much, other then Monica choosing Carol's colors.
I liked it, but didn't go to the theater, I just saw it yesterday.
You should react to blue Beatle movie it's really good 💙🩵
Best movie with “Memory” in it.
A great reaction because you're being honest.
Hey Monica was waiting for your reaction when I saw this in the cinemas it did gave me a bit of Charlies Angels vibes in a way like female villian three female leads of different race
I loved this film. Had such a fun time watching it.
I don't think it was bad. But it did feel like it was made for TV rather than the big screen. Felt like it would make a really great special episode of Ms Marvel, not an MCU cinema release.
I really liked this. It was a fun movie.
Monica’s superhero name in the comics is spectrum 🎉
I thought she was Proton.
@@Travis_D_Travesty that is true it’s another one of her names I just googled it and she has 4 names captain marvel pulsar proton and spectrum but I’ve been playing the snap game and her card comes up as spectrum mostly maybe different names for her through the multiverse
it's Photon in this iteration, they never say it in the movie but it's on her funko lol
@@__Dana__ ah nice then yeah it’s not bad and her doppelgänger mother‘s name in the X-Men universe is called binary too
I actually enjoyed this movie especially Ms Marvel she was definitely the highlight of the movie and to finally see the X-Men finally introduced into the MCU was really long overdue I really enjoyed your reaction gorgeous
