Thanks a lot for all explanations. im waiting for my pcb to mod k6 model! its going a great companion to test hf propagation before mounting any antena in portable. 73!
The Lee guy that developed the firmware for this hardware mod, maybe able to also release a 999 channel version for those that do the memory upgrade? Don't ya love the Quansheng UV K series.
Well there you go it works…yeah i was a bit disappointed with the display time out on HF as it is currently used as a bedside receiver, maybe i should look into making it permanently on. For those links i used trusty Kynar wire with my old simple Antex X25 iron which has been to the moon and back. I actually bought a new Weller solder station a few weeks back on the Amazon spring sale event but i have yet to try it or should i say even look at it. 😂
@@m7frs272 The problem with cheap irons they struggle to hold temperature when the tip hits your work, you’ll be surprised how much heat gets absorbed by the board.
very nice firmware demo, but the finest tuning step is only 1khz? Hopefully he will add fine tune function with 100/10/1 hz steps, for comfortable listening
My mod was working at the beginning. But recently I noticed i didn't receive anything in hf anymore, and i can hear (my assumption) fm breakthroughs all over the hf bands... Strange.
I just finished mine, there are three settings when you scroll through upper and lower sideband, theres one labelled cw or something... not sure what that is. Now just to make a half decent mag loop or something. Cant figure out which antenna design i want to commit to trying to build but im leaning towards a mag loop.
I'd love to be able to do that, however I'm also a complete novice at this kind of thing. Check out Paul, OM0ET's video here: ruclips.net/video/jxwBlp8HfKU/видео.htmlsi=y5o2tyxyNG-ZMobz I've done a video of my modification, but it's certainly not a tutorial! More of a 'how not to do it' lol 😜 Thanks for watching 👍
It's OK but not as good as dedicated HF set. Maybe I'll see if I can do a comparison between the Quansheng and either the Xiegu G90 or the Icom IC7300 🤔 Thanks for watching 👍
That depends on what firmware your using but it's usually 'demodulator' in the menu and you can switch between modes. Thanks for watching, please see my other videos for more information: ruclips.net/p/PLXMfFSysu4iw5AGEOeiiKB09-MI5DWmyn&si=ej5NHx-lkj_jN-fc
Are you using Firmware version 0.41HF or 0.5HF? It sounds like you may have a loose connection. Have you ever had it working? I've had it where one of the link wire hasn't been connected properly. If you're using Version 0.5HF the screen will get stuck on 'WAIT' if its not connected.
@@m7frs272 this is my brand new radio. I have k5/8 and I have egzumer on it. But on UV 5 plus I have now 0.5 hf and on it is only 'wait' when I press 0. 10/20 min and its the same. One hour ago on UV 5 plus I had 0.41hf and radio was blocked...but without 'wait' message. Sorry for my english, but I hope that You understand.
@@kethlerlomza For CEC_0.41HF or CEC_0.5HF to work on the HF bands you need to have an additional circuit board fitted like I have done in this video: ruclips.net/video/ka6mybUag2Y/видео.htmlsi=oteSfpieR67gLmb9
No need to do the full HF mod. If you want to listen to FM CB then any of the custom firmware will support that for receiving only. If you want to transmit then buy a CB. Thanks for watching 👍
Absolutely brilliant Ben, your hard work and patience with the SMD components has been well rewarded, hats off mate.
Thanks as always Richard 👍
Your honesty and patience is greatly appreciated
Thanks 👍
Fascinating piece of kit this little radio... Great job and Thank You !
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 👍
You got it working I take it all back well done
Thanks 🤪👍🤣
Bonne vidéo

This hardware and firmware is awesome! So cheap and easy, as long as you're a ninja at soldering!😊

It also means Quansheng can release a new model to suit this firmware.

Thanks again Neil 👍 Thanks for the info, I must invest in a better iron 👍

does anyone know what channel programming software will work with this? chirp does not.
I use CHIRP for Egzumer, thanks for watching 👍
Glad it worked 😅out

For Sale? someone should be selling these... i'll buy at least one!
I'm sure someone will start moding & selling them! (It won't be me however! I spent far too long on this one!)
Very cumbersome proceedure..
There is someone selling them modded. I’ll post the link when I find it again

Does the cec mod have a specrum analyser
What does the BFO Setting do? I've been listening to various frequencies but changing the BFO doesn't do anything.
BFO is the 'beat frequency oscillator' which allows you to fine tune differences between the transmitter and receiver.

best 73 is wrong, 73 is already ' best regards ' so best 73 = best best regards. Any way, cool info. its amazing what these 2-bob radios can do.
