In this video im taking a closer look at the sigma 30mm f1.4 VS fujifilm 33mm f 1.4 and who these lenses might be for.
Im testing both lenses POV style for street photography in a heavy snowstorm we had up here in Oslo the other day. Doing street photography in extreme weather is really cool to be honest, and it was a great experience.
Back to the lenses: Both has their pros and cons. Watch the video to find out which one might be for you.

Sigma does have some good lenses! Would you get the 30mm over the 33mm?
Considering my own position in photography I’d go for the less expensive option. I’m not afraid of the plastic bag trick haha. I have a great appreciation for the pricier “higher quality” lenses. But the cost to quality difference for me, especially while shooting aps-c, just doesn’t work out. Eventually though!
Its a good choice either way. For this focal lenght prime, im a bit posh hehe. For the zoom lens though, ill probably go for the 18-50 Sigma and do the plastic bag trick. You and me both Carl! Youre right about the cost/quality. My lenses tend to get a beating over time, so I opted for the more expensive "tank" from fuji
Nice video dude. Already decided to get the Sigma 18-50 and Fuji 70-300 when I upgrade from my Canon M50 MK ii to an X-T4.
Still undecided on the Primes though. I currently have the Sigma 30 for my Canon and I love it. However, the Fuji 33 looks amazing and I like the weather sealing factor
Anyways, as far as the decision for primes is concerned, I'm either going to go for the Sigma 23 1.4 and 56 1.4 combo or just the Fuji 33 or the Sigma 30.....again;).
Would like to know your thoughts? My photography involves landscape, travel and portrait on top of surfing and wildlife.
Thanks Timbo! Weather sealing is really only necessary in extreme conditions, and to be honest the 30mm from sigma is great! If you have a bit of patience, wait for a good deal second hand on the Fuji. If not, get the Sigma for a fraction of the price. The most important thing though... Go out and take cool photos! (23mm is my choice if I could have only one lens)
@@DanielBryn yeah dude. 23mm definitely seems to be the most versatile prime for sure and the new F1.4 from Sigma looks awesome judging by early reviews.
1:25 - best hot dogs in Oslo
It is known!
I have the Sigma 30mm f1.4 Contemporary lens for MFT and it’s a good quality lens, I even decided to sell my Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4 and keep the Sigma!
The best 25mm lens I could get would be the Olympus 25mm f1.2 Pro but that’s also like three times the price of the sigma 🤷
Plus I waited until the following day to venture out in Oslo!
Yess - the price of this lens is really a steal! The f1.2 would also be slightly bigger I imagine?! Any good shots from Oslo?
@@DanielBryn oh I’m not sure if the Olympus 25mm f1.2 pro is bigger than the Sigma 30mm but it would definitely be heavier.
I have managed to reduce my lens collection down to . . . . .err 17 lenses but I’m also a Videographer so 8 of those are for Video only 🤷
And yes I did get some nice shots from around the Opera House area . . .posted on my insta page!
I tried the 30mm, good lens but chromatic aberrations are all over the place and hard to get rid of in post 😕
I had the exact same experience until I updated the firmware, then it was fixed and gone in post. Try that, and good luck. Its a good lens, but missed the weather sealing
@@DanielBryn I might give it a second chance. When was the firmware issued please ? 🙂
Sigma 56 is great, but this 30 is nothing to write home about. XF33 FTW
I think it performs well optically, but the weather sealing was a concern. XF33 all the way. Especially when you get a nice deal.
Noen skikkelig minimalistiske bangers her :)
