WARNING: I used QUIKRETE VINYL CONCRETE PATCHER to do both the cement walkway AND the driveway, but the manufacturer does NOT recommend THIS product for such an application. I took a chance with this, just to see how it holds up. I used it last year to do small sections of walkway, and, so far, for ONE full year, it has held up nicely; ultimately, it might even last longer. Time will tell. All in all, though, I'm NOT telling you how to resurface cement. I'm simply telling you how I experimented with the above product.
NOTE: I buy the 40-POUND BAGS of this product, NOT the plastic tubs. Buying the bags is much less expensive if you're doing a large area.
NOTE: I did NOT "pressure-wash" the cement before patching and coating it. Instead, I thoroughly "wire-brushed" (by hand) and vacuumed the entire walkway and driveway--and I mean "thoroughly." It took forever, and it almost destroyed my arms. In my unprofessional opinion, wire-brushing gets the crud out/off better than the pressure washing. Regardless of whether you pressure-wash or wire-brush/vacuum, you will definitely need to apply some form of "coating." Why? Because if you wash or brush thoroughly WITHOUT applying the subsequent coating, you expose new areas of concrete that are MORE susceptible to wear than if they had been left uncleaned.
