How To Stop Microsoft Edge From Automatically Creating Desktop Shortcuts

  • Have you ever booted up your computer and notice a Microsoft Edge icon, that you haven't placed there before, junking up your desktop? Whenever Edge does an update, it automatically places an icon on the desktop. In this video I will show you how to stop this from happening in the future! This video will work on all version of Edge and running on Windows 10 and 11.
    regedit location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft
    New Key Name: EdgeUpdate
    DWORD (32-Bit) Value Name: CreateDesktopShortcutDefault

    i just delete all those and uninstall almost all windows store apps and after that the windows store itself .

      I remember trying to uninstall Edge last year and it messed up my whole Windows install. I might try and give it another go. Its unfortunate you can't just uninstall it from the settings or control panel.

      @@TheHowToGuy123 yes. I know what you mean . Happened to me also . If you don't want doing it manual ... you could install a program like "windows 10 tweaker" that does it for you. But do notice that some anti virus software see this program as dangerous and will block or delete it.
