This is honestly a fantastic idea. Taking the idea of the first Zelda game, being this open ended “just go explore and figure it out on your own” and modernizing that with some of the things introduced in later top-down Zelda titles, is a great idea for a remake! This looks awesome and I hope Nintendo does something like this one day.

Awesome! Great work! I know you want to keep it simple, but maybe have various weapons, such as swords with different stats and abilities. Start with the Wooden Sword in a cave with no abilities, to the Kokiri Sword that has a 360 aoe spin arc, the white Sword which shoots a beam, and then the Master Sword that has 3X aoe the 360 spin arc (the longer you hold it before you release) or something like that. Each sword is a little stronger than the last as you go through tougher enemies. Just a thought. Again awesome work!

Keep up with the work, and yes I do like the idea of this being related to the first Legend of Zelda game. Also its has some new features where as the switches glow when Link hits them with his sword, and the game is original. 🙂
Hey thanks, let's say that I feel obliged to add puzzles because in the dungeons of the 1st zelda it's a lot of fight against the monsters and we risk to get bored quickly.
This looks great! I love how the game looks so far and it's cool to see a take on the original game that isn't 1 to 1! I do have some words of advice though, a lot of the sound effects here are from other Zelda games. A good idea to help prevent a DMCA is to make sure that all the sounds you are using are made by your team! Also, it seems like in certain aspects, like the dungeon layouts, you are forcing them to be 1 to 1 replicas. If you want the game to really stand out from the original, go absolutely ham on the designs, while paying homage to the original! I can't wait to see where this project goes!

If you really want this to stay up, make this the the only video you have about the game, start a patreon for like 5 bucks, something pretty affordable, and then in order for people to see more about it or to get more updates they have to go to your patreon. It sounds shitty but it’ll be one of the most effective ways to keep this project alive without nin tendo shitting you down. Then if anyone leaks it, shut the patreon down and private any videos you have of this. I want to see this project finished!!! So many great projects nintendo has put a stop too. Idk how the ocarina of time remake in UE 4 is still up, super hyped about that one. Keep up the great work tho!

Sometimes the ruppees spawn in the environment so they aren't reachable but that's just a minor thing, otherwise the game is really amazing ! Everything is well done ! It's also funny you included sound effects from different zelda games like wind waker, ocarina etc, it's cool ! What did you use to make the special visual effects like explosion etc ? Niagara ?
Yes, you guessed it. Niagara is simply excellent, thanks again to the youtubers without whom I wouldn't have progressed. As for the ruppees , the physics is a bit temperamental.
Is the close-but-not-quite-right music in place here because of youtube's copyright detection system? It would be great if the final version has actual Zelda music instead of this.....kinda sorta similar music.
Hi, we just wanted new music inspired by the original Zelda themes (I'm the composer). Copyright is one of the reasons: that's at least one point where we cannot be bothered. I get you like Zelda original themes better, which is highly understandable ; but I hope that if you play the game you'll also like my music ;-) There's a lot of hidden references of original Zelda themes inside and I really enjoyed composing those themes.
@@alcibiademinel It's just a little jarring because you're still using actual Zelda sound effects, but sound-alike music. The sound composition here is on point and is well done. My issue is that it's just jarring. Either replace all the sound effects with sound-alikes too or replace the music with actual Zelda music and keep the Zelda sound effects too.

I would love to see what it looks like if you lean more towards the toon shader aesthetic (wind waker) it will stand out as its own top down rendition of zelda! Right now it sits somewhere between Links awakening remake and windwaker style. Music is also wicked! Although it doesnt feel quite like a nes remake yet, i think that might be a good thing!

Here are some things to consider: -the Serkan Toto tweet about a shadowdropped Zelda 1 remake by the end of this year -this getting put out immediately Either just bad luck or just a horrible sense of timing. You fellas should get this downloaded immediately.
This looks great. Lifting the sword and shield sound effects from the games was a cool idea. It definitely helps with immersion. It would probably be a good idea to take this vid down though, in case Nintendo learns of the game's existence. Shadowdrop the finished game when its ready, so that Nintendo won't be able to stop it, even with a cease and desist. Once it's on the net, there is no going back, so the best version to put out there would be the finished one.
i mean if you change up the items and theme a bit nintendo cant do anything about it like the play style where you explore and have ability checks at points in the game to make sure you have certain items remember super adventure adventure island for the snes masterpiece

A whole new Zelda in the style of' LTTP' , would be so awesome. I really don't understand why they don't. I purchased 'Breath of the Wild' but, I just can't really get into it, with the open world style. I've always loved a 'Link to the Past'. The same with the N64 Zeldas. lol. I'm going to play this 'remake' when I can!

Just looking at this i see good potential. I could also see some old school dungeons with two floors like Link to the past but sticking with the classic look. Maybe the ladder would have another purpose. Just a random thought but it still look great.

Way better then all those crappy unreal engine hyper realistic OOT "remakes". This actually has soul, and feels like a proper Zelda game. with allot of polishing, this could be absolutely incredible.
I hope the RwanLink isn't considered one of those who does soulless recreations cause that guy goes above and beyond the original even if it's just for recreating the maps and not necessarily an actual remake.

What they do is throw a bunch of "realistic" assets into a blender, with a shiny looking plastic Link model, and artificial over the top shiny lighting. None of what he does has any consistent aesthetic. The original N64 game and the 3ds remake look ten time better, because they have consistent design.
