    The flute does 2 more things. it allows Link to Warp to any Underworld dungeon he has cleared. if he is facing north or west, he warps to the next dungeon. if he is facing south or east, he warps to the dungeon before the one he is at. in the Second Quest, it can unveil hidden caves, as well as the entrance to Level 6. Lastly, Digdogger is split into three smaller versions at the sound of the Recorder

    Along with clearing that body of water, the recorder item is used in some dungeons. Also I believe using the recorder item in over-world locations that are not that body of water will result in a "whirlwind" coming across the screen and moving Link to the entrance of any dungeon that has already cleared. Apparently which dungeon entrance Link is taken to will depend on which direction Link is facing when the recorder item is used.

    11:35 - What?? No... The flute is literally the warp whistle that inspired the same item in Super Mario Bros 3; it summons a whirlwind that teleports you to the entrance of each dungeon you've visited. It's surreal to see someone who was probably too young to have played this game as a kid talk about it now without knowing the stuff that was just common knowledge back then.

      Anyone can learn to program, all you have to do is think logically, and learn the programming language. In the programming language of C, declaring a variable (a thing that stores a number) is as simple as “int a = 5;”. This basically means: Integer (int/number) “a” is now the value 5. Programming was made to be as easy as possible, if it was as hard as you think it is, your average joe wouldn’t even be able to learn it (because they would think that it’s impossible). So try programming, and try to learn it with confidence.

Personally Zelda and Mario franchises for me are always very safe games for existing demographics and as a result never really entice me to play them. The latest Pokemon game is a good example. • @jamiesmith4293
    @jamiesmith4293 Год назад

    This is an excellent remake into 3D, staying very true to the original. I'd suggest you also make a realistic version too. For example, make the trees look like real trees, but don't clone them over and over. Make each tree look different, maybe by rotating each tree 90 degrees on its vertical axis. The cycle will repeat every 4th tree, but I doubt anyone will notice. And make barriers taller so we can't see over to another area.
    I tried to turn the map view of Zelda 2 into something realistic 10 years ago, but my computer couldn't handle it. Each block was a very large space so a whole village would still occupy only 1 block. And I wasn't going to use the same enemy encounter as the map world, they'd become rendered as I approached like GTA.

    This is quite impressive. I love the concept of recreating classic 2d games in voxel. I would love to play this, but of course, it would have to include the obvious purpose of the flute to warp around to all the dungeons, haha.

    This is 100% the coolest thing I have seen in the past month, other than the Mario video. Great work man, would love to see Metroid or Mega Man next.

    *Fun fact:* The _Legend of Zelda_ was inspired by Shigeru Miyamoto's "explorations" as a young boy in the hillsides, forests, and caves surrounding his childhood home in Sonobe, Japan where he ventured into forests with secluded lakes, caves, and rural villages.

    You have our permission to take a long time and figure out boss fights. This looks amazing.

    You've probably been told this before, but a lot of these levels are already drawn out via tile maps.
    I highly recommend creating a level parser to read the tile maps so that you can save a lot of unnecessary ctrl+c & ctrl+v work, as well as free up time to allow you to focus on the fun stuff like AI and boss behavior.
    As a fun bonus side effect, it will also open up the path to allowing users to see their own custom maps generated in your game!

      @Holden Mcgroine We are talking about different things now. Any company can claim ownership and take legal action out of 'mere resemblance' if they own the IP rights. And YES, if game companies really wanted to they could force take downs on Twitch as well (obviously this would be a REALLY bad idea for business, but it's technically a legal right).
      What I am talking about is just parsing levels from 2D data. With a proper parser he doesn't need to copy and paste things repeatedly (like he explained he was already doing in the video). This would also allow him to easily 'reskin' his models and maintain level layouts without having to re-work as much.

    Heh seeing Mario like that just makes me immediately think of the excellent and often overlooked "Super Paper Mario" on Nintendo Wii. Instead of a turn based RPG it was an action RPG that played like a side scroller "Metroidvania". The unique gimmick of the game is being able to "flip" from 2d side scrolling to a sort of 3d perspective. This made for some truly great creative gameplay. I absolutely love that game and i wish more ppl were aware of it.
