    Excellent use of all Colonial assets in this engagement. The Battlestar uses it's flak cannons as a defensive measure to protect the smaller Adamants from the Cylon missile attacks, while the Adamants use their long range batteries in slow and methodical broadsides to good effect. At the same time the Colonial vipers make strafing runs on the Cylon Basestars once the Raiders are no longer in the fight due to the Vipers and heavy flak. Once the second Basestar is destroyed, all Colonial forces turn to face the
    last Basestar head on, and it is quickly destroyed by the Battlestar's heavy front batteries.
    Mission result: Total destruction of all Cylon forces with minimal Colonial losses.

      Ender Ace Phoenix this game has mixtures between the two, but in the original battlestar Galactica game, They used the classic model for the duration of the game and as you progressed through the levels, you saw reimagined ships, and even the Galactica turning into the Jupiter class. I really Love BSG hahaha

    Just goes to show how powerful flak batteries are. All those missiles would have shredded you before you killed the first one if they'd been able to go through. Good work!

      I just finished the next to last campaign battle and their fighters outnumbered me over 2 to 1. It was then that something clicked and I realized that I had 2 Artemis and 1 Battlestar as the core of my fleet. So, it was recall the fighters and let the flak chew through those enemy squadrons time! ;) It totally opened my eyes to the usefulness of flak. Bravo on your skills, rylon. Yeah, those Adamants would have been chewed to pieces by those Basestars' munitions (it looked like a mixture of guided missiles and torpedoes?) without it! ;) I didn't realize just how high (and low) the flak could go. Did you have your postures set to full defense? I noticed that that improves the damage and accuracy of your flak. Anyway, great battle, rylon! Fly safe! :)

    • @CybershamanX
      @CybershamanX 7 лет назад +20

      The 3 smaller ships were Adamant frigates. They are one of the first ships you unlock (by purchasing the blueprints for them) in the game. Late game, they are not powerful at all. They come with 1 fighter squadron slot, 1 munitions slot (for a variety of guided missiles, torpedoes, etc.) and have pretty puny weapons that can only shoot at targets that are on their port or starboard (not straight forward or aft). From the looks of the Basestar loadouts (from what I can gather by observation), they had a mix of torpedoes and guided missiles (each Basestar has 2 fighter squadron slots and 2 munitions slots).
      The Battlestar has a flak ability. It can ordered to either side of the ship but only one at a time, not both. Depending on your posture level (a high defensive posture level really boosts the damage and accuracy of flak), flak can tear through squadrons and pretty much destroy any missile or torpedo. It will also hurt your own fighters and munitions, which is why you see that he didn't launch his fighters right away. Also, he had to shut flak off when his own ships launched their own munitions. Looks like he had their posture set to a pretty high defense level. A high defensive posture also limits the size of your munitions salvo. He also had to turn it off for a moment to launch his fighters and get them out of the way so he could reinitialize his flak screen. You can see how long an enemy ship has to reload their munition tubes. So, he just waited until they had launched a salvo so he could safely turn off his flak.
      Deadlock is an _awesome_ game. Well worth the fairly low full price, but do keep an eye out for sales. :) And then you will see for yourself just how cool it is, too! ;)

      Van de Velde Freya+i dont,but the phrase is misleading.it wasnt one battlestar against 3 basestars its was one battlestar and 3 adaments against 3 basestars.the basestars in this game dont have an anti missile defense so no wonder they were overwhelmed quickly.

    • @TheDjbz
      @TheDjbz 6 лет назад +3

      True. This was not a real 3 on 1.
      An Artemis *can* take on a pair of basestars solo however (and it's not that difficult) as I've done it myself (I was "recreating" the classic series Pegasus vs Baltar's fleet in skirmish) Not tried 3 vs 1 though I can't imagine it being any more difficult without AI improvement (or fighting a competent human opponent)

    • @ElzariusUnity

      AI in this game doesn't exist. No human player would ever send his strike craft into a flak zone

      Careful timing and letting your flak do the work of making short order of those enemy squadrons! ;) Adjusting your posture to defensive will increase the damage and accuracy of your flak, as well. What an awesome game! Fly safe! :)

      I'm more impressed by how well his ships stay in formation AND targeting the same spot on the enemy ship

    • @CybershamanX
      @CybershamanX 7 лет назад +1

      Careful positioning during your turn and focus fire! ;) Of course, _getting_ your ships to all line up nicely takes certainly takes some skill! ;) The pre-battle positioning is key for how you want to deploy your fleet. Like, putting your slower ships close to where you want them to (hopefully) first engage the enemy and then the quicker ones in positions where they can easily maneuver to form a firing line. I'm a big fan of the stacked (one directly over the other) rather than linear (in a straight line) Adamant configuration. It's easier to ensure that all of their fields of fire overlap the most. But, in this battle, it looks like linear was the way to go! ;)

    If you're going to launch an attack on another warship defended by flak defenses, I would recommend using thousands of dummy rounds with unshielded radioactive dummy cores with no warheads. They'd emit the same amount of radiation as the real nuclear missiles but would be indistinguishable from them and flak batteries would have to spend time between thousands of incoming warheads instead of a few dozen and realistically the few live rounds would reach their targets.

      @CybershamanX 7 лет назад

      It looks like he let the flak take those fighters out. I just learned a lesson on the effectiveness of flak on the next to the last campaign battle. The enemy had more than 2 times my number of squadrons and it hit me like it was so obvious: recall the fighters and let my Battlestar and 2 Artemis take 'em apart with flak! ;) But, I see what you mean about the fighters. I wasn't playing before they nerfed them, but they still do a significant amount of damage. The after battle stats show that they regularly score a high amount of damage on the enemy. :)

    • @CybershamanX
      @CybershamanX 7 лет назад

      Second look: Yeah, it looks like he had his squadrons up behind the flak. Pretty ballsy since they don't seem to care about wandering into the line of fire. :P But, yeah, they took out those squadrons pretty quick. Viper IIs vs. plain Raiders, though. ;)

      And numbers. Takes months to train a pilot or marine. Takes five minutes to program a centurion. While the Colonials usually had the tactical edge, Cylons could just out-produce them. And the Cerastes would like to have a word about being missile only.

    Don't vipers carry any type of missles or heavier ordnance? Kinda seemed a waste that all they do is strafing runs. Could have dropped a payload down the center of the basestar and enjoy the fireworks.

      Well that's a change. On release vipers (and especially viper Mk2s) were absolutely ungodly powerful, their cannons would rip through basestar armour in seconds. You didn't need battlestars, just load those adaments up with MK2s and everything would die. Look at this: ruclips.net/video/Y2nvIsRYkq4/видео.htmlm30s

    • @ryl0n

      Yeah it's incredibly powerful, but it can only be active on one side of the Battlestar at a time, so if you are facing an enemy on both sides, you can't protect against both. It also prevents you from using your own fighters whilst it's active, as they'll happily fly into the flak field and get destroyed, if they're nearby :D
