I hadn't played an NHL game since the late 90s on PS1. Use to score mad goals. Bought NHL 17 on sale for quarantine. Had gone 0-30 and like 4 goals total. I notched Hossa's 500 goal for Blackhawk season play. After watching some of your videos, I've scored 2 per game and managed 1 pt for tie in reg in one 2 hour session my little boy allowed yesterday. Thanks! Thought i might be too old to play a young man's game. Managing better shots on goal, skating skills, shot selection, advanded dekes, better breakaway chances, net play rebounds, one timers.
holy moly.... finally. i took your advice and went with method number 2 and it finally paid off. it took about forty shots cause the goalies i played were like brick walls. plus, this one timer goes maneuver happens so fast im not that adept at aiming yet. despite two crossbars, a post and a ridiculous goalie stick butt end save i got it. thanks for your help. im sure in the near future ill have questions on your other very informative and detailed videos
Achievement unlocked! Awesome man, congratulations! I probably could've helped a little in the scoring department if you were struggling :b..you can set sliders in your favor so that you'll score like 90% of the time (offline, of course, not against other players), but I wasn't sure if that was the problem you were having so I didn't mention it. Looking forward to seeing your face around on the other videos! xD
watching your videos has improved me 3-4 divisions in HUT in 17 alone. good work dude. quick note I have found that just doing a couple of deeks to nobody while approaching the opponent's defense on the rush will more often than not back him off and make him not want to step up for fear of getting deeked then I can maneuver for a high percentage shot
Awesome! Thats what I like to see! Interesting philosophy on the dekes, I think it depends on who you play against but it seems to have worked for you so many times if you noticed it!
Brianstormed yea as I get into higher divisions it works less and less. basically if I'm playing a low skill player it works lol. the biggest difference I noticed is when I used the strategies that you use. once I installed those as my game plan I started winning like crazy without improving my roster. but every video I watch of yours I get a little bit better so thank you.
Enjoyed the video man. I have watched several and yours is by far the easiest to follow. Been awhile since I have played a NHL game on PlayStation and got this one a week or so ago to play with a friend. You earned a sub man and look forward to watching some more of what you got.
Just a problem I've been having lately, is with a righty doing the toe-drag, a lot of times the guy will shoot instead of the deke as my right stick moves up.
You might be either starting the deke too high on the right side or you are doing the motion too fast so your guy shoots before he can have a chance to deke.
if anybody can help me on this game it has to be you. maybe its on a previous vid u did cause im searching them all still. im trying to get a PlayStation network achievement for one timing "tee it up". apparently there are 2 ways to call for pass to one time. the first one i held precision skating L2, tapped hockey stick on ice using R2 then manually one timed. no luck on about 5 completely wound slap shot one timers. then i found a second way ( which i believe triggers the achievement ) hold L2 precision skate again, but cock back right analong to swing hockey stick back which signals "the call for one timer" xp bonus when done correctly. but i cant consistently get that xp notification. do you actually have to connect on the one timer to get xp notification or just by simply calling for it? and do i keep the stick held back like in reality when a player holds their stick up waiting to blast away or is it you get a quick swinging chance anytime you call for the one timer? sorry to have rambled here but ive spent hours trying to get this. however i have been playing on pro. any help greatly appreciated
That second way is the way to go, it is how I got the achievement in NHL 16, though I haven't bothered to get it this year. Try doing that a few more times where you wind up the slap shot and that is when the computer passes it to you. Try it in two different game modes: be a pro and play now. In play now lock your position and try it. Remember that it also does have to be a goal. If that doesn't work I'll create a quick video for you to show you.
thank you very much for not only responding but rather quickly as well. i will try your tips this evening after work and let you know. your a true professional
Hey man, love your videos. There's one deke in the game that I never saw in any videos on RUclips. It's done by pressing the left stick down and the right stick to the left or to the right simultaneously while moving forward, then a player just moves his body and the puck quickly to the side. Is that simply a useless deke and nobody bothers to use it or is it something else. Just wondering why nobody uses it
Are you talking about the slow down half arc motion? Yeah I don't know if I'd call it a deke but it certainly is an interesting game mechanic. I used to do that manually with both sticks pointed in the direction I want to go but this seems to be an easier way to do it.. it also looks a little unpredictable (which way you are going to arc). Have you been able to escape hits from it?
I was playing in an online game when a player was skating and stopped the puck where he was for another skater to pick up. He did it more than once so I was wondering if there is a way to do this?
Stride, toedrag, one touch, and windmill all work well but if I'm going into the slot to take a shot I often don't deke because its hard to set up a shot from there..some small stick handles will get the job done better.
Haha nah I don't let it get that bad ;)..I usually start messing around when I'm up by a few goals. I try new things or go for some highlight reel goals :b

Thanks for the comment! I'm glad that my videos have been helpful! If you have any questions that come up you are also welcome to ask them :)
I really like your videos ! Right on man!
:)
Brianstormed You should make a video for stationary dekes
7:15 “If you’re playing on the Xbox it’s the “left bumper”” LOL LB MEANS LEFT BUTTON😂😂
+xPandq / xProPandas it's interchangeable. Lots of people call it left bumper in the community.
windmill deke into the offensive zone.. neat gonna try that
It's quite a fun one B-)

Brianstormed These moves are essential to great staking. I don't hit sometimes.
I was playing in an online game when a player was skating and stopped the puck where he was for another skater to pick up. He did it more than once so I was wondering if there is a way to do this?
I believe that is a drop pass. To do that, hold LT and then press RB. If you are on the PS4, hold L2 and press R1.
realease left joystick and press R1
What do you think is the best deke for cutting into the slot?
Stride, toedrag, one touch, and windmill all work well but if I'm going into the slot to take a shot I often don't deke because its hard to set up a shot from there..some small stick handles will get the job done better.
Keep up the good work man! Go Caps!
Thanks for the encouragement! GO CA--!...wait a second.... :b
That description looks so wrong.
JuissiES haha! I missed your comment originally
I hope I never play u but ah the same time I kinda curious to see if I lose by 5-10 or 15 goals
Haha nah I don't let it get that bad ;)..I usually start messing around when I'm up by a few goals. I try new things or go for some highlight reel goals :b
and I hope I never have to play you
XD
