It will work 5 to 6 days only cause short circuiting will effect on other LEDs they have to bear more voltage and will burn in a week you need to replace led with led or diode or resister to last 7 to 8 months or more

It works but the output is greater reduced. Better than no light.
It will become brighter because of the reduced resistance, but subsequent bulbs will fail due to overload over a period of time, perhaps several months.

I've done it before and the light doesn't turn on like in the reviews. But it caused more lights to fail and I did a method of taking out the lights and using foil to wrap food to make the bulbs, and one by one they broke. What's the cause? Does anyone know?

you're going to have the Christmas tree effect with chain failures. you're now spreading the draw that led used to the rest, giving them more power than they are rated for. it'll cause the next weakest one to fail, making the rat go up yet again, and the cycle continues until none work. Best fix is simply soldering in a new led
Or solder a resistor in its place to give the required voltage drop

Ok, but I have a pencil, not soldering equipment. Is there any reason not to do this if it is just to get a little more life from an expensive bulb that would otherwise just go in the garbage?

You will actually overvolt the rest of the LED SMD bulbs (& thus cause them to fail prematurely). It's best to just replace the bad LED with a new one. 😉🤔😕😏
I've done this and it basically burns out shortly later
it's the same reason when when a Christmas tree bulb burns out you need to replace it as soon as it is noticed or you cause a chain of failures due to spreading the extra draw over the rest of the bulbs. sure it keep all bulbs working of one goes out, but at the risk of ruining that whole strip of bulbs

Bad idea. The rest of the LEDs get more power now and will also die. Maybe one of the remaining LEDs will get too hot and house will burn down.
In case you're so poor, you can't afford to buy new bulb don't risk your wife's and children's life. Safe the LEDs from another broken bulb and replace the broken led with a salvaged one. Or, in case you can measure the resistance, replace broken led with capable resistor.

It's common for the remaining LEDs to fail. There's a little build-in transformator that serves a certain amount of power to the circuit. If one led dies and you bridge it with foil or whatever the remaining LEDs get too much voltage and therefore too much heat.
If you want to do it the right way you have to solder in a resistor.
Now you might ask: how much ohms do I need?
And the answer is: I can't tell you, because there's too many types of bulbs and LEDs out there 🤷 you have to find out yourself. Or you may keep a broken bulb and use the contained LEDs to repair another bulb of the same type.
Anyway, in my country, if you mess around with electric and burn down your house not only you loose house, family and life, on top they'll charge you and put you to prison, because you're not a certified person to work on such things. And that's why there's 🔥🔥🔥 in the first comment 🤣
