The soundtrack of tea times as a child. My Father came home at the same time every night and we all listened to the John Dunn Show. One of the most genuine presenters, not like today with presenters egos.
Oh, how wonderful that I get to hear his lovely voice again. I remember being in the kitchen with mum - getting tea ready and then the washing up. I have missed his voice a lot.
I worked on the John Dunn Show in the early 1990's as a researcher. It was simply a delight to work on that programme. John was such a lovely person. Occasionally I'd come up with the odd duff idea for an item - I was only about 22 - but he was so nice about it. One of the music producers was called Alison Tuohy who went off to work in Bangkok and I lost touch. Get in touch Alison if you are seeing this!
Hi. I'm researching for a blog post about John Dunn (blog is Random Radio Jottings). I'd love to hear from you about your time on the show. Please email me at radiojottings (at) gmail (dot) com
One of my all-time broadcasting heroes. I was born "John Dunn" but my radio shows went out at the same time as his in the 1980s so I changed my name to "John Richards", only to find another John Richards broadcasting on BBC Radio Cambridge when I moved to Cambridge. My father, also called John Dunn, was similarly born in Glasgow. Like John, I started my radio broadcasting career in the RAF.
I used to love John Dunn - I was 17 at the time this programme was broadcast. Radio 2 is just rubbish now and I am 53. It used to be a delightful network.
How I miss Radio 2. It offered so many interesting and fun programmes. People spoke nicely, politely and intelligently and were not over excited. Nothing will ever replace that format.
@@richards6332 one year on ......totally agree........its even worse than dreadful now......full of giggly kids .......The John Dunns @Ray Moores will never be forgotten.
I have for years been researching for the lovely signature tune to John Dunn's breakfast show on the Light program in 1966 to 1971 no luck can anyone help me in the research and name of tune?
Who was the mystery voice I wonder? It sounds like an author or playwright. John Dunn was a true gentleman, (and stood tall at 6'7" all told). Colin Berry coming in with the continuity at the end. Great era of broadcasting before being overrun by adolescent egotists.
Is it Colin or John ‘Boggy’ Marsh on continuity duty? Either way it’s a great clip. John Dunn’s slot in the schedule is occupied now by, erm, Sara Cox. RIP John.
Amazing aircheck. I hope you have those recordings of separate segments for MW (sport) and VHF (arts, if I'm not mistaken) during Mr. Dunn's timeslot. I wonder why they have those separate segment. Thanks!
Radio 2 at it's best.😢 What has happened to my world?...

Marvellous. Long gone days sadly never to return. Dunn was a fantastic broadcaster.
The great days of Radio 2, great memories and sadly missed!
Radio 2 is pitiful now.
I agree totally.

loved these old memories and that fabulous theme tune. ..time stands still for no man.....sadly!

Great radio voice and a very warm n freindly man, lots of memories of me moving to Canterbury in 84 and working overtime in the early evenings
I thought John was the best radio broadcaster that ever graced the BBC.

It has gone forever, I am afraid The days of Tel, Deadly & Boggy! A sad loss.
@@robinwilson1433 weren’t they the days?…we were sooo lucky to have them.
That signature tune I heard it on the Light Program in 1967
Lovely hearing this, just a shame I wasn’t old enough to appreciate gods broadcasting at the time
Brilliant broadcaster
A legend
and loved the mystery voice
I seem to remember John Dunn did breakfast special and lost track of the jolly. Signature tune not heard since 1971

What is the title of the closing music ? It sounds like a Syd Dale tune.
Spot on. It's called Central Park Parade and was written by the great Syd Dale
@@RandomRadioJottings Super. Many thanks.
