Not for the first time, "I have something in my eye" whenever I hear this genius at work. My broadcasting hero and who inspired me to adopt and attempt something of a similar wacky style when I had the pleasure of working on local English speaking radio in Spain. Can't believe it's 30 years ago.
I also remember missing him on the morning of January 29th...I share my birthday with Ray's great friend Colin Berry who mentioned that fact on his tribute show.
Wonderful broadcaster, whose like we we will never hear again

Never understood why Ray didn't take over Wogans slot when he left? Would've been a lot better than the woeful Jameson.

Met Ray in 1985 at 5. 30 in the Morning at Stretford park athletic running track when he started his outside broadcast. He interviewed me as I enlighten him about the Bogarts in Bogarts Hole Clough. Following year he started the bogeyed jog. A true gent and such a sad loss when cancer struck. I had his autobiography Tomorrow is to late but have sadly lost it. It was so nostalgic especially when he said that he was so hard up he knew when the bank manager went to lunch and went in to cash a rubber cheque.Brilliant Thanks for posting the clip and kind thoughts to Ray & Norma somewhere in the Priston hole Robert Best

This is just so wonderful! Ray Moore saw me through all my shift working years as a nurse. He just really understood that weird twilight world that 'normal' people don't get.
I loved his theme tune the Mike Leander orchestra playing 'Here, There and Everywhere', I loved the way he would play a play a Frank Sinatra record and say 'I rang him last night, never returned my call' or say Burt Baccarach with a liverpudlian accent. He was a one off and deserved far more recognition.
No on had ever replaced him.

OMG!! At about20 mins in, The Great Ray Moore does a dedication for a long lost friend of mine Dave Castle from Deeside. What are the chances!!! Ray was the greatest of wordsmiths.

Way above the rest, this fellow was the definitive master of the airwaves .. around the clock, wherever he appeared, a consummate and very clever and articulate broadcaster. Certainly his best shift was the early one .. happy memories of looking forward to getting up up for the early shift at 5.30! Simply the best!

One of the undisputed greats. Fans of Ray may be interested to hear that Sitiveni Rabuka is still going strong. In fact he was leader of the opposition in Fiji only last year. He never did get to stand in for Ray but he did, apparently, consider staging another coup to oust Derek Jameson as doing his show would have meant more money.

This was a time when you had to have actual broadcasting talent like Ray and Terry to get on the radio. Not like today in 2020 when any crappy reality show idiot like Rylan Clark can have a Radio 2 show. It's terrible how awful Radio 2 has become.
