We are Malaysia people hope that the next government will be upgraded this KTM Train Jungle Single Track to Non Electrified Double Tracks to reduce travel time, and to provide more comfortable journey from Gemas Station to Tumpat Station. The current government don't have serious attention, hopeless, and useless to improve public rail transportation in this country.
Kota Baru means 'new city.' I took the Jungle Railway in the opposite direction back in 1991. Back then Kota Baru was a lively place with a very colourful market and fantastic food in the night market. Thanks for the video, I'm watching it because I'm thinking of making a nostalgic return trip and going on by train as far as China
Hi guys! Love this video. I'm hoping you can help me as I am considering taking this train only because your video has inspired me. I travel to Asia a lot. I'm a 70-year-old solo traveler. Last year I was in Malaysia twice as well as Sri Lanka. But after a while you run out of things to do in the particular country that are of interest to you. I'm not a beach person. m My excitement is from culture, food and making new friends. Have you taken the beautiful train through the tea plantations in Sri Lanka as I did? Because looking at your video it looks like what you were seeing through the window is similar to that and if so what would I gain as a new experience by taking this jungle train? I got dengue fever in Laos in 2019 and now the risk of internal bleeding from dengue is greater on a second infection if from a different variant than the one I have antibody's against. So I'm always concerned about jungles and waterfall things due to mosquitoes. Any experience - were their mosquitoes? Do you know if Dengue is prevalent in this area if not in the rainy season?

This is THE definitive video on the jungle line sleeper! You’ve helped travellers with this video for years to come! Thank you!!
Thank you!
this series must go on, not many english videos explaining and reviewing train and public transport journeys in southeast asia as detailed as yours
Welcome to the jungle railway. True. Sad thing about malaysia is forest are replaced by plantations in many areas
Yup. It's a shame. We got too many palm plantation already but still they want to add more.😢
@@badnotgood greed
No, the palm plantation area was reserved for development including public transportation. Hence, the forest area is untouchable.
@shukriramlee6784 yeah but not near the rail tracks. It defeat the purpose to call it jungle railway.
@@keangwooichoo6138 The purposes are to avoid animal crossing and save forest reserved area. Jungle train is just a nickname.
I have lived 5 years in Malaysia only to discover the sleeper train through your videos, I appreciate your vids Josh👌
Thank you ☺️
Must be so incredible going on the train and going through the jungle in Malaysia. Such a wonderful experience.

I'm inspired to embark this journey! What's your itinerary after getting off the train?
Wakaf Baru is not New Castle but Kota Baru is
Ahh I might have mixed that up.
