Love this. As a child I remember getting gallon jars of "muddy" water from these pools and coming back, staring, and finding the life. Spent HOURS watching tiny things jet through the water.

Professional Foresters in Michigan have recognized these special places for at least 25 years. Making sure to not intersect logging operations into them. Especially leaving buffer strips around them to assure the don't dry out from lack of shade.

As a child I used to be amazed at all the life in the water across the street from our house unfortunately it doesn't exist there any more because it has been filled in

This is very cool. I had no idea. But then I think about the mosquitoes - are they reproducing and growing in the same wet space?

Us Michiganders are fortunate. Life is all around us 😍

We are all products of nature. Nature has given us a mobile body to carry our organic brain to collect stories of this planet. We're just talking human primates who kill other sentient beings for ego while we neglect taking care of the planet which produced us. We arrogantly believe we're the center of all things. But we're not.
