I have a certain fondness for The Lion King bootlegs, just because of how ridiculous they can be. For instance, there’s The Lion King V: Timon and Pumbaa, which has some very.....questionable design choices (those death scenes will forever scar your child’s mind!), but it isn’t the worst ever. On the Meh to Okay side of the spectrum, we have The Lion King 2, which has Simba and Mufasa running around in ancient CHINA of all places. This one also managed to get a sequel, the aptly named The Lion King 3. Disney bootlegs in general are a pretty wacky fever-dream subject, but it seems to me that our favorite four-legged Hamlet adaptation has had the widest range of sheer quality here. I’m not sure it counts as a true bootleg, but given that the cover artwork is a CG nightmare ripoff, I count it as such: Snow White and the Seven Clever Boys. Phoenix Games titles are always terrible, but you might need a shot of something to get through this one. I hate this game, but I also love to make fun of it. Seriously, I am dreaming of the day AVGN tears into this catastrophe!
