    YES! so well done!
I just watched the knucklehead at colonels corner take a canvas tarp and spray just mineral spirits on it... and say it was waterproof...(???) it hurt my brain. I had to check a few other videos to make sure I wasn't going crazy. I seriously hope people find your video before they try his method. sheesh.
    thanks Shawna!

This looks like just what I need to waterproof my small messenger bag. I noticed it dried really nice and didn't darken or stiffen it up. I'm not worried about colour change but mostly about stiffness. The tarp seemed to be nice flowy even after the application, not stiff and hard like some other waterproofing videos I've seen. Is that because you used the silicone and not wax? Thanks! and great video with easy explanations.

    • @simplyoutdoorswithshawna9429

Hi Thanks for watching. I am glad you enjoyed the video and that it was easy to follow. Hope that this application works for you. My tarp is still great and protected after several months and no stiffness. It must be using the silicone instead of wax that makes the material more durable. Cheers my friend!

Was looking at how to waterproof tarps and came across your video. I appreciate the waterproofing method, but please be careful of the safety info you are spreading. The mask you are wearing is a half-face respirator with P100 cartridges. They are great for dust and sanding, but offer no protection against the fumes you are breathing. You need to swap out for organic vapor cartridges like the 3M 60923. Otherwise the mask is just ornamental.

Thanks for watching! Also thank you for the great information on my mask. I actually asked a supply company to send me a mask that’s good for chemical and vapours and that is the one they sent me. Very disappointing to find out that is not the right kind. I will definitely research more on the masks. Cheers!
