Building a camper. Was looking for a good cheap hard wearing roof material for it to put over the roof boards. Was thinking steel roof but quite expensive and difficult to work with as an amateur. Elastomeric coating was a possibility but limited colors not great for the rustic cabin look. This tarp looks like it might be the ticket. Rig it like a covered wagon or tack it down, if it wears out put a new one up. No crawling on the roof required.
@@jimvargaco.6344 it would be great for that! I’ve been really impressed with this tarp. You’re right about steel, plus it’s loud as hell when it rains on it. Thanks for watching
Nice set up! Have you tried the Army shelter-half poles? I sometimes will pack three or six as they come in sections about a foot long, so relatively easy to pack along. Not sure what the availability of those are now, but I used to find them at yard sales and flea markets, sometimes even with the canvas, pretty cheap. Thanks for the video and keep up the great work!
Thanks. No I haven’t but I bet they would work great! They’ve been kinda hard to find around here for a while. Those and the shelter halves. Thanks for watching
For an emergency shelter for one person it would be great! Can’t wait to see what it does when wet. I may have to go back to pick up a 8X10. Thanks for watching
The one I bought I think is 9x7🤔 I couldn’t find a 10x10 , but if mine is in fact 9x7 it’s still big enough to make an arrow shape tent with a waist high ridge Line to hand one end from . Not sure what I spent on it either 🤷🏻♂️ never really thought it important since it’s cheaper than a tent from mallmart
Great setup. I just found your channel. Subbed and liked. Would be better as an 8x8 or 10x10... then wax it or oil it. Actually looks like army issue. Love the OD green. Did these just come out at HF? I dont think Ive seen em before. What does that 6x8 weigh? Love to see other configurations with just ridge lines etc.... CC Shawn style
First, glad to have you aboard! No, my Harbor Freight has had them for a while here at mine. Only thing here is they only have two sizes. 6X8 and 8X10 I’m going to see how this one holds up and then get a 8X10. As for weight, the 6X8 is just a touch over 4 lbs. As for other setups they will be coming. I don’t know how many videos you’ve had a chance to watch but I’ve been struggling to find property to get out on to do videos. People here are kinda strange about letting people on their property. Again, glad to have you aboard and thanks for watching
@@bsd9230 nearest public campground is a bit over an hour drive, nearest state or federal park with woodlands is an hour and a half or more away. At ones where you can free camp. My only choice in this area is private land or the game farm where I’m a member. Only thing there is no permanent structures/items can be built. Everything has to leave with you. You’ll be seeing some videos from there coming up. But I’m limited to what I can do there.
I agree but this size will great as an emergency shelter. I’m like you, I’m really surprised at how well it seems to be put together. I’m going to try some other setups and will get some of them on video for everyone. Thanks for watching
I like that configuration. I’m 6’ 1” so I better go with the 8x10, but I’ll get one my next trip to HF
As for now I don’t think anyone could go wrong with one for the price. Time may prove me wrong but we’ll see. Thanks for watching

@@CentralKyBushcraft you are very welcome. I don't blame you. It's always good to have options.

This one is a 6X8 and the only other one I saw at ours was a 8X10. And I agree it’s cheaper than a tent. Thanks for watching

@@CentralKyBushcraft what about public parks? Deep in the forest? Or public camping grounds?
