Simple solution…If you don’t want to go to jail pay for the television. Crazy thing, I went to the store and purchased a television and no one called the police. Heck, a very helpful associate even loaded the television into my vehicle. Amazing how easy the process can be.
They’re leaving out of this story that he is mentally I’ll and was in the middle of a manic episode.

store owners should be allowed to have a shackle at the exit that they can snap onto a shoplifter and let them stay there until the police arrive or let them sit for a loooong time before letting them go.
These criminals will fight with cops imagine what they are willing to do to a regular helpless employee.

The shoplifter abandoned their cart with the TVs at the exit right before the second set of double doors to their left (right at the beginning of the video). They then turned and ran when the police walked in right in front of them. The police chased and got them when they (shoplifter) attempted to double-back through the original doors but on the right side. And yes, it’s still shoplifting even if they didn’t get all the way out of the store. You can and will be arrested if 1) you walk out past the registers without paying even if you don’t make it to the door or 2) you are walking around or towards the exit with items concealed on your person (in pants, under your coat, in your purse, etc). Both examples clearing prove intent. Some people think you can’t be charged unless you physically leave the store which isn’t true at all. No longer can people claim “I haven’t left the store yet so technically I can still pay and everything will be fine”. Nope.
Resisting arrest, good that will get him extra jail time.

Just stop. I have THREE serious diagnoses that includes manic episodes, been arrested and NEVER acted like that. Being mentally ill is NOT an excuse every time someone wants to explain away criminal behavior.
