    This worked great for redoing the shower/bathtub of my kid's bathroom. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxfiuHoZJo3bgdVPFRxQ-iqPpfbEHl2cYt I didn't like the guide, so I took it off. I just used a fine tipped sharpie on the tile and followed that line. It does make a wet mess, and once I started looking like I wet myself I started wearing a towel and apron while cutting. The blade it came with worked great until we wore it out. It was better than the replacement one we bought. I tried looking for just their blade, but failed. Not really for larger tiles unless you stack stuff on either side to support the tiles. Anyway, would definitley buy again.

      Funny, I was going to invest in a big ass Montolit, Sigma or Rubi for long plank tile, but got a call to do a rush job and had to pickup a QEP 36" cutter from Home Depot for $150-ish in the meantime. It actually cuts fantastic and is well built so I held off on ordering from one of the "big three". That was about a year ago and low and behold the biggest tiles I've installed since then are only 12" x 24", lol. I'm finding the big plank tile craze seems to be dying down here in the north east. I'm doing a lot of good old 12"x12" and of course tons of various size subway tile in showers and on kitchen backsplashes these days as well. The last time I installed anything bigger than a 12" x 24" was when I bought the big QEP cutter over a year ago, haven't used it since, lol.

    • @Hugh-Jorgan
      @Hugh-Jorgan Год назад +1

      @@Aaron86vrubi sucks. I have a 49" tz. It's a terrible bumpy cut that requires a diamond file to clean up and straighten. Needless to say I don't use it. I use my 14" 24" montolit's, my 36" 61" sigma's. That 49" gets used only if I need a 36-49" cutter and my 36" sigma is on another job. Personally I prefer push but they even screwed that up with the whole click up to drop the snapper then click twice to retract it crap and the tape measure isn't accurate either. Then I have to stop and think everytime I cut do I add a sixteenth or subtract a sixteenth which side is the waste on. It's a garbage cutter. Their cheaper cutters are better than their high end cutters. Sigma and montolit are so similar and cut so much smoother that I'd use either before I take out that rubi.

      Could be many things.
      I've had in some cases tiles that just didn't wanna break correctly, it was a tile production issue. Maybe u are unlucky and u encountered those bad tile's more often.
      But I would give the machine a good check-up because these cutters are normally wonderful to work with

      I'll relook at my cutting pressure. I was at my local tile shop and Troxell was doing cutting demonstration on their 48" cutter. That unit was slick, cut a 1/2 strip 48" long. An the weight of it was a fraction of my Monolit which is only a 24" cutter.
      Anyway, I mentioned my issues with the Monolit & he mentioned I may be putting too much pressure on cutter. When I upgrad to a 48", I'm getting the Troxell and it's only $430.
      Appreciate all the input 🤘🏻

    • @Hugh-Jorgan
      @Hugh-Jorgan Год назад

      @@brouwerificationI would argue that. Professional tool implies it can take a beating and last for years. My 49" tz broke on second job. The locking mechanism that you pull to change the angle of cut fell apart. I rigged it so it sits square. It's collecting dust now because it's not quick to use. Clicking the handle to drop the breaker and clicking to retract. It's not fast like the montolit and sigma. Production slows. Durability and speed are key components to "professional" tools. It's priced like professional but doesn't perform like professional.
