I just bought one today for $300 Canadian dollars! I now have the entire Snap On RC collection thanks to my girlfriend of 5 years dad ! Who has been my Snap on dealer for 13 years!
I bought one from my Snap On dealer, I paid quite a lot. For me, it is not only the heritage of the race car and Snap On's sponsorship in racing back in the '20's.. It's something else... It represents the history of the "Remote Controlled". From the original "Tether Car" controlled by string or wire of the '20's,30's,40's mixed with today's technology of "Radio Control" ... A good representation of the history of RC.
My dad and grandpa built a t bucket late 60s and suspension similar. The car would raise in the middle. When you let off it had to settle. Went low 9s quarter mile high 130s on street everything. Small block built by Ohio George Montgomery. Wish we still had it. Saw it drive by our shop years ago.. that was hard.
I loved the video I kind of wish you had let him talk more. It seemed like he had a lot of really interesting information about the real car and the toy.
Yeah, point taken. His audio was a little low and that was a pain. We did have 35 minutes of video that I edited down to this length. This is our longest video and it's kinda risky since youtube always judges a video by how much of the video is watched by the average user.
Gret video! Few things I wanted to point out. Cost is $585. It does not have a retail price. Yes, that part on the side is the "fuel pump" and just pressurizes the fuel tank. Reason was the cars at WOT most of the time so no vacuum to pull fuel back into the fuel bowls. The engine it came with was based off a Flathead Ford but had whats called a "Fronty" head which was an OHC head. Going back to THAT car, its a BL2 so you cant run 3S on the stock electronics. Top speed is 27MPH but some have converted to 3S and it does 50 with no problem. She does like to roll though so I am fine with 27MPH. LOL
i still don't get this thing. I mean it's beautiful machinere there, but I don't know what's snap-on and why trx is not advertising this a lot unlike every single thing they had in the offer.
I would love it but nowhere near the price they want. Just cause it says snapon doesn't increase the value. It can say gearwrench and its still worth the same.
I think it’s a limited production collectors item. The price is determined by the amount of people who want to buy it. Yeah definitely for a retail version $400 or $500 would be awesome.
"Why are people paying $1200 for it?" They're dumb. That's why. Traxxass fans are so starved for actual new vehicles they'll get excited over anything. This is a cool car for $200-$300. I'm not a hater, i own a Xmaxx and TRX6. Traxxass is the reason i don't own more. While Arrma is going crazy with releases, Losi is giving us the Promoto, Redcat giving us the COE and Ascent and Rlaarlo even busting out cool new rides. Traxxass drops this and those ultimate rip offs.... I'm not mad, just disappointed. Traxxas used to lead the way in exciting and innovating ideas. Now they're comfortable relying on reputation and brand recognition to sell over priced exciting new 2s power systems on bold new bodies of twenty year old platforms.
@@themountain59 what makes it great? What about it will appeal to a mass audience? What does it do better than anything else out currently? I don't have answers to any of those. Personally I see this as an oddity for a niche audience. It has little wise other than supposed rarity.

Will wait for FMS or other company to do it better and at a sane cost. There’s a gap to fill for RC mid-20th century open wheel race cars though.
