if you have a hp and it says fn lock on the shit key but it doesn't turn the fn light on they keyboard off when you press fn and shift together then before you enter bios settings try pressing ctrl + fn and then shift + fn. this is worth your while as your problem is likely to be that you've accidentally swapped the keys around by pressing them at the same. swap them back and use shift lock like it was intended

People who don't use their laptops for productivity, don't use the Fn keys as shortcuts. I'm thinking this is why the consumer laptops started to come out preferring the action keys over the function values.
@@PracticaProphetica At the very least they should offer an easy way to reverse it to how it should be
@@XenophonSoulis Dell: Toggle with Windows Mobility Center
Lenovo: Fn + Esc
HP Probook: Fn + Shift
Asus: Fn + Esc
All-in-One Media Keyboard: Fn + Caps Lock
Surface: Fn + Caps Lock
Laptops with Fn Lock key: Fn + Fn Lock
Others to try:
[Fn Lock] + [Esc] Only works when there is a lock displayed on the Esc key
[Fn] + [F11]
[Fn] + [Insert]
[Insert] + [F11]
