That's the good thing on products that come from the Philippines. Nothing like mass production. They're carefully and creatively made, with much love. 😊
When we were in high school, every Christmas season, we always have this Lantern making project made from indigenous materials. The most creative group will win. If you happen to study in catholic school, the most beautiful ones are being displayed in the church and the rest are on the pathways of the school.
I remember during my elementary time in school..we use to make a parole each one..made by linen colored boards..and submit it to our scholl..hannging on every windows on our school room..and there was competion for each section for parole making...in the philippines..
I should say thanks for promoting the Philippines and the Philippine products. This is not something just something just using the Filipino audience but also giving back to them. Cheers!

Mike & Nelly, I wish you showed the starting point of the capiz shell lantern -- the live (or cooked) capiz clam. After you eat the clam meat (it's quite delicious), the concave shells are separated, then processed (steam flattened) and then trimmed into rectangles -- that we saw on your video. You should also show the antique windows of some houses, where the translucent capiz shells are the window "panes". Srećan Božić! Froehliche Weihnacten!
Wow....I did not know that they still making that lanterns. I remember when I'm still small during 30-40yrs ago Manila and Makati and even Pasay is full of that lanterns as a display. Pitty it's almost forgotten, until you showcase there product. Thank you Mike and Nelly, love to see more of this kind of vlog❤️❤️❤️
The closest I came to using capiz shells was in a high school project to make a simple one foot lantern. I bought uncut capiz shells and to clean and whitened the shells, I dip in a mixture of a small part of muriatic acid and tap water. Once the capiz shells are cleaned and whitened, I cut them using a special cutter to the desired shapes. To assemble them into a lantern, I use a bronze metal cut elongated and used a plier to tighten the grip on the capiz shells.
