Omg! I thought I was the only black person that thought this was a low budget film . Both Afros, Tyler’s character and the one that played Phylicia Rashad son, were so distracting! He is a great philanthropist and I love how he will not forget our out of work actors or overlooked actors. I will always support him. But Tyler the movies are too predictable and fuzzy. I love you Mane!
Chronicle Speaks one thing I noticed in my 45 years is when certain black folks act hella boujie at black owned restaurants like looking for spots on the silverware, cups etc meanwhile at any other food joints it’s never an issue especially white owned I think there’s a Lil of the same going on here !!
It’s foolish not to have a writing room. It’s like he doesn’t value the opinion of those who could only made the move cleaner. Ego is the downfall of any empire.
Damn all that it was a great movie and I want to know why these people who are talentless always got something to say to the actual artist's 🤬everybody that has a problem with this movie can fuck off period !!!
Authoress Shantina Henderson girl relax. No one is taking about the actual movie script. We are discussing the production of the film. That has nothing to do with the art.
Authoress Shantina Henderson actually no I have not. I pursued my Masters degree in Psychology, more specifically in the realm of clinical and behavioral psychology. And yourself? I assume you write scripts for a living?
Yea, I noticed that too, it's like he's recreating the scenario over and over again. Someone once asked why he never made a movie with a male lead. Maybe this is the reason.
M. Bryant to be honest, she’s actually a pretty well established journalist. I’ve followed her for awhile now and she does pretty good work. I don’t really think she was trying to clout chase or anything. Just my opinion tho🤷🏾♀️
I think he Needs to trust other people to write script. He can’t talk about worth ethics but throw movies together like this. Where is the work ethics in that?

TP could've used another writer for the court room scenes in his movie. He was lost and that is why the court room scenes were rushed and disjointed.
iamthatsomebody I have heard that; however, there is always a gamble when you do something. I can understand you feeling your ratings went down, but what if for the next creative collaboration, they go up and you actually get praised for your work instead of panned? It’s all trial and error. I do believe him only working alone will leave him stagnant - there is an entirely new generation and they won’t identify with what’s he is putting out. You have to show growth.
Part of that movie seems to be directly taken from a book I wrote - blow by blow! I am offended that he would make the demons BLACK AMERICAN, when AMERICAN mothers have never formed a team to commit such evil acts. I have known Jamaican mother/son teams to team up to steal from black american women,
The story needed to be told. One of my moms friends was scammed out her life savings years ago. I had no idea, she told me when we were discussing the movie. This helps raise awareness on that issue. It also showed us how flawed The system is and how they were willing to send an elderly black woman, with no priors to jail without any evidence that she committed the crime. Also, I loved seeing black lawyers and black cops who weren't crooked! The main character also had a nice career and a home she purchased all on her own. These are the black people I know. Not alcoholics, wife beaters, crack beads and drug dealers. When you look at it that way, you can appreciate what he's doing for the black community. Give him time, he will do more and can only get better.
So, these movies are just different versions of what his mother went through? So, he will continue writing movies like this until he's healed from the pain that his mother went through or until he see positive black men and black relationship's? He needs diverse material!
Yess! Super low budget I almost didn’t watch it. I’m even looking at the font when they edited the names. But then again I can’t watch a few of his shows because they look the same way as well.
Kay You you can see an extra fake drinking and eating water, at one point when the main character looks at her phone for a message you can see they didn’t make edits on the phone so it is clear she received no message and it was photoshop, mehcad brooks covers up his penis with his hands during a sex scene - who covers up there hands when they are in the middle of/ finishing sex with their partner? The police officer says stay here after hand cuffing someone. If he had additional people it would help. On the surface these seem like small critiques but Tyler has established his wealth at this point and this doesn’t show a level of real dedication. If he wants to get better he should take critiques and up his game, not settle and keep giving the same production quality and stories and themes he presented when he first came on the scene.
@@NubianPrince2012 You are the problem, those things you mentioned are irrelevant. I not care about petty insignificant mistakes. People like you missed out because you spent too much time looking for flaws instead of enjoying the movie.
Meeeeeeddeded That is your opinion. And I respect it. My opinion still stands. If I want more out of a creator who isn’t new in the game anymore and chooses not have to others to assist, I can critique and watch the same way you can enjoy and watch.
Bingo. Thank you. Folks making it xtra when it is not. Some would say the fact that Tyler has what he has to even do this himself IS black empowerment enough. :^)
To save on funding; he doesn't' have to spend more money on Crew/Actors/Equipment/ etc etc. Every day they film, its him spending more money on the whole movie process. thats my take on it. think about it...when you rush anything...you find soooo many mistakes.
Who ever tried finding errors have no life seriously. This was a good movie especially made in 5 days. What's crazy is people actually take advantage of older people like that alot.
Making a movie in 5 days is NOT something to boast about. Film students in college make movies in a week not someone with a Netflix budget and who's already established. Why are we accepting mediocrity?
Fred Morris PREACH!👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Maybe this is the reason why he’s not taken seriously in Hollywood. One must master their craft and leave no room for their naysayers to boast. I firmly believe in if you’re going to do something do it right!
I actually like the movie. The ending surprised me. However, why are people picking at the movie, just watch the movie. It's just a movie...🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️
Life with Tamika I think the truth is we been tear down by other people so much in the media and life that people want Tyler to write stuff that makes the black community look perfect but the truth is its not, so now people are upset at Tyler
you like the movie because you are apart of his target audience. For the rest of us, who actually like believable and cohesive plots, good acting and high quality film making and editing, we are going to question or and criticize his work if it doesn't meet this criteria.
Because the like what Tyler has to say or they feel connected to him and want him to level up. This was on Netflicks so obviously, he wanted more than just his audience to see it. Give good quality stories. This film was fair and the plot twist was good but it was too rushed. The pace was too fast at the end, the momentum builds and builds, and then plot twist and it's over. Make quality movies and the audience will expand, if not he can always go back.
Life with Tamika because he has made it too far and has received too much of our support to keep putting out subpar quality films ! It’s BECAUSE he owns everything himself that we demand and deserve BETTER QUALITY productions ! This movie should NOT have looked low budget/bootleg ESPECIALLY while having Netflix there to help produce it 💯🤷🏽♂️
This is what I dislike about black owned anything in general. Yes, we have perfectionists and professionals but you find a lot of black businesses that just lack attention to detail but they wanna act all boss. They have this false confidence that leaves open the window for other people to swoop in and outdo them. We need to learn to take constructive criticism so we can grow.
Tyler is not pure genius, he's entertainment. His movies are formulaic and many of his television shows have issues with consistency. He may have a lot of good ideas, but he is not a very strong writer. That's the problem the OP is trying to address, quantity does not equal quality.
@@nataliebrady7565 It’s called constructive criticism. She doesn’t need to be those things to point out it’s a failure in Tyler Perry’s movies because it is. He pretty much all but confirmed it!
I personally enjoyed the film. Everything isn’t for everybody. I didn’t watch the movie looking for what technical mishaps I could find. I enjoyed the acting. I think it’s unfair to the talented actors. Folks have a personal beef with Tyler Perry so they’re trash talking the movie. We are better than that people!!! #AFallFromGrace #GreatActing #GreatStoryline #BlessUpTylerPerry
Some people mat have a personal beef but a good majority of people are not hatin just to be hatin. U mean to tell me u can't criticize without being a hater? Hmmm
R Moss I think , for me, it seems like Tyler talks like he knows all of the black struggle, and that no other person could portray black people on film better than he can.
Because TP's plots are usually targeted at black women's fears and emotions. Similarly to how when you are afraid of something emotion takes over & you lose focus on everything else but that scary thing; many black women's emotions were hooked by the plot that they lost focus on everything else around it that was really terrible... Even the plot fell apart the more you watched it (i.e how is one tried for murder where there is no dead body?🤷🏾♂️🤣. It's nonsensical)... the irony here is just as Grace got hoodwinked by Mehcad, Tyler hoodwinked a lot of black female viewers too using their fears and emotions. #irony
@@MylezNevison older black women have no clue in what goes into making a great film. They are completely clueless. Anyone with half brain will see his film as utter garbage.
WHY IS HE BEING SO CHEAP WITH EVERYTHING FROM HIM BEING THE ONLY WRITTER ON EVERY PROJECT ...TO THE WIGS & PROPS.WHO EATS AIR😂 AT LEAST GIVE THE MAN SOME "BUDGET" GOURMET😂
Ck Keidis think about this. He had showing everyone that it doesn’t take a lot of money to make a movie. Everyone has a story to tell. Be inspired to tell yours story. He has show everyone that it doesn’t take much money.be inspired to share your experience. We need unity in our community. Our nation is in crisis mode.
Ohhh, his dad was abusive to his mom. She was probably codependent. He has daddy issues. Didn't realize that. Men w/ daddy issues usually have strained relationships with women. That explains, imo, much of his work. Smh
I thought it was a great movie! I support my people, there’s always room for growth but I wouldn’t dare tear him down. He created a platform for himself and built his own empire, he hires within the community and he invest as well. Kudos to TP!! He’s a boss so he gets to decide how his empire is ran, if he doesn’t want a writers room so what it’s his decision. 🤷🏾♀️
Shan B I don’t really think people are tearing him down. People have a right to their opinions and some people found mistakes in the movie and are suggesting he hire writers because if he rushed to do this movie in 5 days it really shows. It has nothing to do with supporting him. There is nothing wrong criticizing the movie. I would think Tyler would want to know the mistakes that were made and maybe he can accept the criticism and it will help him in the future. I personally want to see him succeed and hope he would slow down and maybe hire writers to help him so he can produce better movies. There were a few things if someone really looked at it during production and made corrections before it was released. The things I saw was the fact that she beat her husband in the head many times with a baseball bat and he didn’t die. No way anyone would survive that type beating. Also, when the police officer arrested and handcuffed a man, he got a call to check his computer about Sara (Phylicia Rashard). And after he read the info on the computer he drove off and left the handcuffed man standing on the sidewalk. And how did Phylicia get out of the handcuffs? Those are just a few things in the movie that weren’t done correctly. As I said I want Tyler to succeed however, he needs to review his movies better before he releases them. Unfortunately, the mistakes are the result of writing a movie in 5 days.
Can the man be a better personally. Like damn. Me personally, I think tyler perry is a very mediocre writer who has this idea that writing the same stories over and over again is talent, when it's just stagnation. He refuses to grow and focuses on the same thing over and over again without any input or criticism. He can be whatever he wants, but hes not great
Well said Jazzie Nicole.....if our ppl would put the same enegry that they have dismantling TP....towards others we as a ppl would be great....blessings Queen
@@BabyGirlTiny I agree with you in every movie Tyler makes black women look like we're just one big ass cry for help. Every movie the black woman is being mentally, physically, emotionally, or sexually abused by a black man. I understand that his mother endured abuse but that's not every black womans story ya know, and he always makes the black man the villain, Tyler has no vision when it comes to writing.
I think the truth is we been tear down by other people so much in the media and life that people want Tyler to write stuff that makes the black community look perfect but the truth is its not, so now people are upset at Tyler
@@ApobangpoBorashae7 I just want Tyler to stop making black women seem like we're oppressed like our life is always in shambles in every movie he makes he portrays the black woman as being used and abused by the black man every single movie,in my opinion he needs a writers room.
Well, judging from previous work (especially Madea), I think he feels that his feminine side does that. So much so, that most of his films seem to target the black female audience.
SugaLuv 91 Thomas I think that Denzel would project his strong skills into that movie whether it was “mediocre” or not. I believe that everyone involved would step their game way up just from his presence alone. I feel like he would make a “mediocre” movie stronger. Denzel is a perfectionist, so I don’t think that he’ll be down for that “filmed in 5 days” thing lol.
Omg the interviewer is REACHING!!! She told Tyler she was offended by Shannon telling Grace she was old and low hanging fruit. My god it is not that damn serious!
I think when Tyler is creating his characters he's using the his young kid images from 30 + years ago and that's the hair styles in his mind. I think if he's doing comedy it's ok but not when he's doing a drama.
But remember he started off writing play's and new he got his own studio he feels I wrote my play's and he created character's and yes he still stuck there and when he mother was going through stuff it all maybe all just Tyler's life lol
I feel like he might need to spend more time in hair and make up and his sets but it was actually the best plot I’ve seen from him in a while I didn’t know what was coming and I usually can predict the end of his movies. He could work on accuracy a bit but for Tyler perry it was better than most of the stuff he puts out. I feel like instead of trying to be a one person show he needs to branch out and take some input from others
I think Tyler Perry don't want to do it anymore because he think it gonna offensive women or something like that so that why he want to retire Madea and want her to die.
I get what he's trying to do BUT the story line definitely deserved better production. He needs to focus on Quality not quantity. He's been in the game too long for this.
Shame how ppl talked about this movie. Most ppl thought it was pretty good from what I saw. If folks critiqued their lives as much as they did this movie, they might alright.
Your critique of this movie was downright hateful! Again, I found this movie to be very entertaining I didn't watch it in order that I must nitpick every scene I watched it to the end because it was a pretty good movie. Until you can make a better movie fall back
Most black men in general needs to learn how to talk to black women, also to my black women you don't need to be with somebody that's gonna downgrade you especially if you got kids, kids learn From what they see.
crooked truth83 I seriously doubt you have dated and come into contact with enough BM to make such a generalized statement. May be true for your small circle but I doubt it’s a significant sample of the whole population.
“Most black men in general NEEDS to....” girl it’s NEED not NEEDS 🤦🏽♀️ you’re the reason black men marry outside of their race. You can’t even write a simple sentence you ignorant dummy.
Tyler is acting unphazed for the media but I know he's embarrassed that his rookie editing mistakes have gone so viral 😬😬 Instead of being defensive he should use the criticism as an opportunity to grow. I get that he doesn't wanna fix what's not broken, but he also needs to remember that people get bored after awhile & do appreciate when someone's talent evolves & improves. Even the great Tyler Perry isn't above improvement. I think he's afraid to hire writers bc he fears that he'd be changing something that his sales clearly say isn't broken. 🤷🏾♀️
I'm not tired of the black faces in his movies, the storylines, and for sure not tired of the christian lessons/messages, from the gossip he probably just needs a new camera man, editing crew, and appearance team not a new writer
"The things that my father said to my mother were far worse." Ok Tyler. Replaying the same childhood scenes movie after movie. He needs therapy. Intense therapy. He needs a writers room. I want to speak to the woman he refuses to marry but has children with.
I can't believe after he stole all her money, caused her to lose her job, brings another woman to her bed he sits in her face and insults her. After he got what he wanted he would have left. Who sits around to get their head bashed in. It makes no sense.
Why is he being roasted...As a woman I appreciated this movie...a lot of men are looking for sponsors, not wives. I don't fix a man, I don't give them money...this movie is a life lesson that a lot of people need to see...some men might see their grimey selves.
I think we all agree that the overall message is great.. But the production quality of the movie is horrible. I mean, he made the movie in five days... C'mon now. In addition to that, Tyler Perry always writes movie about the misery of Black women. It's weird and BORING at this point..
Dee I feel like this movie didn’t teach me anything new that I already haven’t learned from his other movies. People are acting like us critiquing him comes from a hate full place but even when I sat down to watch it with my family for fun I noticed a lot of mistakes and plot holes. It’s not that we’re trying to tear him down just that we want to see him evolve ,this movie is something a still learning writer and director would come out with not a 15+ year director/writer
You mean the same message he been putting in his movies for years successful black woman gets played and this is the reason he’ll never change because y’all stay eating up the thrown up garbage
I feel like this one was different. I don't know. It had a good twist. Noe people are just looking for things ay this point. Smh. The wigs were bad but the ploy was good. We won't rest until we have less black representation than we do. Watch.

My wife and I enjoyed the movie, I don't like the show the Oval because after 8 years of Michelle Obama as 1st Lady I can't understand why he would portray a Black Woman in a very high profile position in that manner.
I've only seen previews of episodes of The Oval.....never once watched. Just from the previews it seems like sis and her white husband constantly beat the shit outta each other
I agree, I watched one episode and I was done after that. God bless her, but the female lead character has only ONE facial expression. I couldn't do it.
Totally agree. Playing on the angry, miserable, blk women stereotype. Furthermore, her character did not need a ugly disrespectful white husband. I think he was going for an Olivia Pope theme but failed badly at it.
I totally agree with you. I love me some Tyler but I think he missed it with "The Oval". I think he was trying not to make it another Scandal or Designated survivor but a show where just about everyone is Effed up...Naa and for first couple to be kicking the s**t out of each other......Thats low. I think he could spun this another way(s). Even his last political series Too close to home was better than this.
When he said “I wrote all...my movies in 20...19 by myself.” I thought he was going to say he wrote them in 20 minutes by the way he was pausing while talking!
Lovelylady076 you are so right ! like if the person going to support him support him if not then keep it pushing. I don’t know who will literally take their time to really pay that close attention to the mistakes like literally take pictures of it. That man doing good for himself and working hard, then he gives opportunities for those who have talent but go unseen. Look commend him on the good he does do. I love his storylines and his work for one these things go on in real life, in people lives. He put truth into his films. That’s my opinion. People hate what they don’t have and hate for someone else to be ahead. But can’t please everyone, that 💯.
Agree!! They're looking to deep in things, it was just a movie. These people want to be screen shotting stuff like come on get real... I do admit I thought maybe it was being portrayed in the early 90s because of the men with the high top fades... Overall GREAT MOVIE!
Dominique Turner right like why can’t people just be glad he made a movie?? Why would anyone expect it to be well thought out or for any effort to go into the fixing obvious issues a first year film student would notice in a second? Who even uses their brain when watching a movie? Hell I couldn’t even tell you the last thought I had because it’s not that deep for me. Continuity issues, rushed editing, lack of reshoots, huge plot holes, and unrealistic writing. Can’t tell me he couldn’t have wrote for the Cop the let the man go, instead of just leaving him handcuffed and say “ Stay there”....and he did it twice! Could he not have radioed for backup and handcuff Phyllicia to the stove or something...instead he says “stay here” like come on🤣🤣🤣.
I watched it twice and didn’t notice any mistakes. I enjoyed the movie. More editing and better wardrobe is definitely needed but overall good job Tyler Perry!!!

@Lady Leo Sounds like you as well as the interviewer were insulted because the "Black Secret" is being exposed. Shouldn't Black Women & Men get together and focus on DOING BETTER. Marriage instead of Baby Mama's would be a start. Marriage is one of the foundations of #GenerationalWealth 🔹Btw, I'm not a Tyler Perry fan in the sense of watching his shows & movies. I've just watched about 3 of his first movies.
I liked the movie as well, but I don’t generally expect Tyler Perry’s movies to be outstanding. I don’t watch Madea or his tv shows, they’re not funny to me but the movie was worth the watch.
This man created an entire movie in 5 days and y'all mad... I'd love to see someone else do better. Why would he let someone else write his movies when he got rich creating them himself? He doing damn good!
It’s quality over quantity. Just because someone does something faster, does not mean it’s better. I’m sorry but I want to see my people succeed with high quality award winning work, not this rushed bs. Tyler Perry has the potential to do better. But you called it...he’s rich. @@MsStarryNights I agree! You can respect him as a businessman but still call him out for putting out low quality film/tv. I love what he does for our community as far as making major moves in the industry. But 90 percent of his bodies of work have been mediocre at best.

Bliss Blissful exactly! I don’t think the plot was too far fetched! People get taken advantage of everyday! The movie wasn’t perfect, but I feel TP did a good job setting the scene to help the viewer rationalize how Grace was conned by a younger dude! She was vulnerable dang it!! lol. Even during parts of her narration, she mentioned how she thought it was too good to be true, yet, she proceeded and married the guy. Happens all the time, hence the high divorce rates! And maybe it’s not a common experience for most, but people can change their behaviors and quickly flip the script once they’ve accomplished what they set out to do! Case and point: Parts of the movie “Precious” were extremely hard for me to fathom, bc that wasn’t the world I grew up in, but for some, that’s normal, everyday life, so they weren’t phased!! Ijs 🤷🏾♀️ As far as the multiple women being held in the basement in the movie, lets not forget about the Ariel Castro kidnapper in Cleveland, Ohio who not only kidnapped and held 3 women in captivity for over 10 years, but he impregnated one of the victims (after several forced abortions at his hands), she had the baby and he fathered a whole child by a woman he was holding hostage in his house!!!! Wtf!!
Out of all the whole movie all people can do is talk about the wigs instead of focusing on the positive message of the movie. Why does it seem like people always got to find something wrong with everything. If you don't like Tyler Perry stuff then don't watch it. It's just as simple as that.
@@Lolasrice I think of the fact it can caution people to be careful of who they let in their life because your world can be turned upside down. All of his movies have gotten to be the same. I've lost interest because there's no real difference in the characters being pigeonholed and stereotyped.
One thing I learned as a young black independent man is that not everything can be done alone. On top of that there is a process and sometimes a proven process that we must adhere to in order to achieve success. As black people(listen carefully) we sometimes lean too much on God and faith thinking he'll be there when God in fact has already given us the keys to succeed and has put people on the earth to show us this is the way. Not saying we dont need God but a better anology is you can't ask God to make u a doctor overnight when he has showed you time and time again that there is a proven process and steps to become a doctor. There's steps to making movies and I for one didn't see that movie but just visually in comparison to his other movies you can see the miscues. Your extra eating nothing and drinking nothing is a big oversight. How do you film that and why doesn't anyone say "ummm this guy isn't drinking or eating anything?" Come on Tyler. Trust the process. God has helped us he's not supposed to do everything especially when he has given us the keys to success.
The movie is actually really good. People need to stop taking other people's opinions as word. If you were never a Tyler Perry fan than you wouldn't like the movie anyway.
I feel like our race is extremely hard on each other. It's a movie that was written with a little carelessness. Where's the crime?? Let's kill the negativity when it comes to our own. Critiquing is one thing but the NEGATIVE commentary surrounding this movie was downright mean. SMH! I'm in support of anyone who is employing black actors & actresses, and KEEPING them employed!! Kudos to you TP!!!
So my assessment of what you expressed is this, " I think Tyler should use a script supervisor/continuity supervisor not only for scene continuity but story clarity"
Tonja Harden but that doesn’t give him a pass for piss poor quality ! Negative critiques of BAD/careless editing does not devalue the work that he does/has done for his community.

That's me too. The only one I can say that I liked was The Family that Preys and that was because of Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard but it still had the same problems a lot of his other movies have for me. But as far as his audience is concerned the movies have been showing diminishing returns for a while now. The early Madea movies were making nearly $100 mil but the recent ones have been taking in about half and I think that's why his new stuff looks so much cheaper than his older movies.
Tyler knows his audience at the end of the day. The people riding for him will continue to do so. I'm not one of them so I don't watch. Bashing him is unnecessary. If you don't like it don't watch.
tlady2 I understand what you’re saying but I don’t know if critiquing is necessarily bashing. Everyone needs to here where they went wrong, it helps us to grow and learn. I think the problem is he’s unwilling to learn from it. He’s always so offended he doesn’t listen. Which is why he decided to get rid of his writers room because he doesn’t want to hear anyone who disagrees with him. He’s wrong!
tlady2 why is criticizing his lazy ass work unnecessary? Because we’re all supposed to just blindly follow along? Look from a capitalist point of view I get the appeal of targeting a less than smart demographic and cranking out poorly executed films with a message a 5 year old could understand. It’s easy money. And his audience thinks they’re getting some deep shit. Dude made the equivalent of a highschoolers art project and guess what? The typical subjects are eating up and he’s making money. Clearly he has no interest in using any of that money to make great films but that’s besides the point lol
At what point should this audience that he claims to care about so much get insulted by his lack on consideration for details. I mean you’re insulting our intelligence sir 🙄🙄
Entertaining, but many women right now this very moment are being subjected to the narcissistic gaslighting abuse of their mate. A narcissist can steal your very soul!

It happened to me and a Judge show. A friend was telling me in detail ahout the show, next thing the exact episode pops up on my feed and I have NEVER watched that particular Judge...creepy
Everybody wants to talk around the truth Tyler is working the shit* out of his staff along with the actors and the reason he is rushing his work is because he is doing budget-friendly work with people that are non-union and they can't say a word because they feel obligated to keep their job. He's at Best a slave driver.

I think he Needs to trust other people to write script. He can’t talk about worth ethics but throw movies together like this. Where is the work ethics in that?
TP could've used another writer for the court room scenes in his movie. He was lost and that is why the court room scenes were rushed and disjointed.
anthony simon he said he used other writers before and his ratings were going down. So, there’s that.
iamthatsomebody I have heard that; however, there is always a gamble when you do something.
Work ethics when he wouldn't get his writers work protection...

Tyler needs to be able to take criticism just like other directors. The film was OK but the ending was weird and it seemed low budget to me.

On the surface these seem like small critiques but Tyler has established his wealth at this point and this doesn’t show a level of real dedication. you like the movie because you are apart of his target audience.

Yes, we have perfectionists and professionals but you find a lot of black businesses that just lack attention to detail but they wanna act all boss. Tyler is not pure genius, he's entertainment. His movies are formulaic and many of his television shows have issues with consistency. He may have a lot of good ideas, but he is not a very strong writer. That's the problem the OP is trying to address, quantity does not equal quality.

#irony

He's been in the game for 2 long to be making these rookie mistakes he should take the criticism as just that and improve on his craft

I feel like this one was different. I don't know. It had a good twist. Noe people are just looking for things ay this point. Smh. The wigs were bad but the ploy was good. We won't rest until we have less black representation than we do. Watch.
I loved the movie. This movie is not the only movie were you can see mistakes. Mr. Tyler Perry, keep doing what you are doing.
He keep black actors and actresses working. When there is no room at the table for us then create your own. I love it!!
The Story Line Was Great. Regardless Of All The Filming Mistakes.
@@COMPACTTVHD No U're Not.... My African American King....But Some Stories Need To Be Told. Maybe Tyler Needs To Even Out The Playing Field And Show The Other Side Of Some Women. #ihearyea
Why does it seem like all of Tyler’s acting skills fly out the window whenever he isn’t playing Madea 🤦🏾♀️🤣
That's what I was saying,he can't act without the "Madea"character, sad but his talent is only portraying an older black woman.
EStig55 wait he has skills??
You ain't never lied 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Cuz he can't channel a woman
WTH was she talking about revealing a secret of how black men talk to black women???🤔 That is no secret. That’s not even something common. It happens in every race. Tyler looked just as confused about the question as I was.
I loved the movie. The acting I thought was great. The lawyer was effective and can’t wait for more movies like this one.
Yea I didnt get that either. She seemed as if she lost her train of thought and just started reaching to say something profound🤷🏾♀️
Idk what kind of black men she grew up around but there is no damn secret.
When I first saw the commercial for this movie, I was like... “ NOPE.”
I love my 👁🧘🏽♀️inner voice.... they never let me down.😉🤣 🤣
Tylers attitude is too much he doesn’t even wanna take some criticism
Pride goethe before a fall, y'all work ethic or no! IJS
That’s a Virgo for ya
I loved it...brush the haters off Tyler!!!
No, brush the wigs off.
Keep up the good work, ppl r worry about what they don't under stand how could u make your movies so cheaply saving money!! 4 get them. Keep up the GOOD WORK let the hater hate on..
I really enjoyed the movie and when she smacked him upside his head with that bat I really thought he was dead
If he shouts in 5 days. It saves him money. It’s like assembly line movie making. Cheap
I really enjoyed this movie from beginning to end and I honestly didn’t notice any of the things that ppl are complaining about.
I echo your sentiment.
The interviewer in the red dress was way too extra! She's acting like it was therapy session.
Her white co-workers said something and she got embarrassed
b4glady that was staged don’t believe everything you see
Her question about the monolog was actually a very good question. People only want to be entertained but tend to overlook the the truths and lessons.
She did a good job portraying Mary Jane from Being Mary Jane
My wife and I enjoyed the movie, I don't like the show the Oval because after 8 years of Michelle Obama as 1st Lady I can't understand why he would portray a Black Woman in a very high profile position in that manner.
How was she portrayed??
I liked it and thought it was perfect for Netflix
Yes, wouldn't get dressed and go to a theater, but watching at home on Netflix was perfect!
😩😂😂😂
Cara Wilson that movie was a train wreck
It's strange cuz his "Madea wig" is always on fleek...🤔🤷🏿♂️😅
You ain’t never lied
I thought the same. Lol 🤷🏾♀️😅
Madea's wigs were better than any character in this movie.
IKR... Madea lace front be on point
Sholl was!!!😂😂😂😂
I felt the same way!
This is why blacks need to bashing our own people. So whites like ann skaggs can keep their opinions to theirselves. lol hahahaha

When he said “I wrote all...my movies in 20...19 by myself.” I thought he was going to say he wrote them in 20 minutes by the way he was pausing while talking!
😂😂Honestly
I enjoyed the movie and know many others that have.
LOL I sure did! I They're picking wayyy too much at all the mistakes... like any other movies has.
Some people like limburger cheese too....🤣🤣🤣
SweetLadyM R.s The HATE is real, especially with most black people.
Rio D lol that’s good for them! 👏🏾
That movie was so good I don't know why people tripping.
Shidddd he said he was making a movie aint nobody said it had to be good. 🙃

I Know y’all peeped Cicely shake her head at the fact it was filmed so shortly...😭😂 1:57

I’ve seen the movie...it was good to me...but I didn’t notice any of this when I did...so now I’ve got to go back and watch it again!!!😂
I watched it twice and didn’t notice any mistakes. I enjoyed the movie. More editing and better wardrobe is definitely needed but overall good job Tyler Perry!!!
They looking way too hard. I hadn't noticed any mistakes either. I was too busy actually watching the movie.
Sha Johnson way to hard! Why can’t we just be proud of him
Facts. It was a good ass movie. Loved it. Had me ALL in my emotions and feelings. Hell, I can name a plethora of white tv shows and movies that are all over the place.
Lady Leo you can choose not to give him your money. I will continue to support him
@Lady Leo Sounds like you as well as the interviewer were insulted because the "Black Secret" is being exposed. Shouldn't Black Women & Men get together and focus on DOING BETTER. Marriage instead of Baby Mama's would be a start. Marriage is one of the foundations of #GenerationalWealth
🔹Btw, I'm not a Tyler Perry fan in the sense of watching his shows & movies. I've just watched about 3 of his first movies.
I thought the lead character was the lead singer for Cameo...
😂😂😂😂
Word up!
Larry Blackmore..
Tyler Perry makes the same movies every year
😂😹
I liked the movie as well, but I don’t generally expect Tyler Perry’s movies to be outstanding. I don’t watch Madea or his tv shows, they’re not funny to me but the movie was worth the watch.
This man created an entire movie in 5 days and y'all mad... I'd love to see someone else do better. Why would he let someone else write his movies when he got rich creating them himself? He doing damn good!
Facts
It’s quality over quantity. Just because someone does something faster, does not mean it’s better. I’m sorry but I want to see my people succeed with high quality award winning work, not this rushed bs. Tyler Perry has the potential to do better. But you called it...he’s rich. So now he’s putting out mediocre work for a check. That’s all it’s about and it’s sad.
@@MsStarryNights I did not see anything wrong with the movie. I thought it was ok, I did not see the whole thing but what I did see I enjoyed.
@@MsStarryNights I agree! You can respect him as a businessman but still call him out for putting out low quality film/tv. I love what he does for our community as far as making major moves in the industry. But 90 percent of his bodies of work have been mediocre at best.
Why would you want to produce something of less quality than your counterparts? Why should people be happy for mediocre? Pay their money for mediocre? Get pats on the back for mediocre?
This movie was made in five days, and it shows.
☕
My husband and I enjoyed this movie... can't please everyone smh
Exactly
Then you're his target audience..
The storyline was good. Although, I found it a bit amateur-ish. It was like enjoying a very noticeable low budget movie.
There's so much going on in the world inside the homes and lives of others from every background ... I know many people feel like he only make movies that target certain groups, but that's his purpose his ministry which we all need to find...just like Steve Spielberg with Indiana Jones, E.T. Jurassic, Spike lee with Crooklyn, He got game, jungle fever, Stephen King Misery, Carrie, The shinning, John Singleton Poetic justice, Boy's in the hood list goes on..
love love exactly smh
Tyler is narcissistic. He obviously can’t see himself.
He isn't narcissistic bc the definition of that is that a person is in love with themselves and only think of themselves and i luv his movies and his stage plays bc just like if u read a book u get a message when i first read the color purple i was in the 12th grade in high school i bought it the night before and took it to school and i was reading it in study hall and my teacher came up to me and she said did u know there is going to be a movie made on that book i was so excited i watched it and even though it was just a movie i had to really pray bc it effected me so much it was a great movie but very touching just like the book Alice Walker wrote and books are always better bc it goes in great detail but that movie got its point across i watch it over and over till this day but their are many people who cant please leave mr Perry alone i pray that he continue to write bc i pray to the almighty jehovah god and jesus christ im going to continue to watch so all u haters thats talking about hair and phones and shit i wouldn't give damn what u think bc all of us live in glass houses he is putting it on paper and putting it on the screen this shit really does happen dont get mad bc ur part is being played and u are not in the movie to actually get paid peace be kind to one another life is a trip and jehovah god got the ticket remember that if u don't have anything nice to say about someone its best not to say anything at all and mr Perry keep up the good work im ur biggest fan
Furthermore in Greek mythology that word narcissistic derivied from narcissis when he saw his reflection in the water and he fell in luv with himself thinking he was better than anyone else beauty is in the eye of the beholder u need to check ur heart bc beauty fades like i said Mr Perry keep up the good work bc when jehovah god is for u who in this world can be against continue to be blessed and all the haters be blessed as well

Ummm. How dare you invoke the name of Jesus and then fire off profanity in the same sentence.

Absolutely or spend your money supporting white Hollywood. I swear, this is why we can't make it as a community. I haven't seen the movie because I don't subscribe to Netflix. If modeling his movies from his childhood and he's trying to get his message across to someone in a similar situation, I applaud his drive and efforts.
It doesn’t seem like the typical Tyler Perry movie. So it was different.
It was literally the same as every other tp movie
Riana Anaïs How? What other TP movie was about elder abuse? An older woman with a younger man?
@@DoraMilagé It's not far-fetched. That happens in real life. Its elder abuse and exists.
Wtf!!
@@007jLoSoulGLo Yes! The movie was pretty good.
Once you've watched two of his films you've seen them all. I SAID WHAT I SAID!

@@ChronicleSpeaks I've seen a clip of her and Tyler talking about the hair and basically Tyler disregarded its importance

He already told us he got this! 🤷♀️
Out of all the whole movie all people can do is talk about the wigs instead of focusing on the positive message of the movie. Why does it seem like people always got to find something wrong with everything. If you don't like Tyler Perry stuff then don't watch it. It's just as simple as that.
LaQuindria Harris can you tell me some of the positive messages from the movie? I didn’t really notice any 😕
@@Lolasrice I think of the fact it can caution people to be careful of who they let in their life because your world can be turned upside down. The movie sheds light on what goes on everyday they're are con artists that seek to take advantage of people. So it teaches you to be aware. That's what I took from it.
LaQuindria Harris oh ok that’s interesting.
All of his movies have gotten to be the same. I've lost interest because there's no real difference in the characters being pigeonholed and stereotyped.
Spoken like a true sheep.
Tyler Perry has made some of the worst movies you could possibly imagine
Spoken like a true sheep
Exactly, I thought the movie was great also
But what was so good about it? It was really unbelievable and far fetched.
Ron DaDon people think sensationalism makes a movie “good”
I feel like our race is extremely hard on each other.
@@LC-uz6em As long as the criticism is constructive.✊🏽
@@KeyboardKidd92 Not giving him a pass, just saying let's ease up on the negative derogatory comments.

Yeah, I was folding up clothes and the story line made me put them down and pay attention.
I truly agree
Okay thank you!!!! The twist at the end was everything.
I won't bash Tyler Perry but I'm not his audience. His work annoys me and the black community he portrays I don't know.
Tiffany Ferguson I laughed as a kid but as a woman I'm OFFENDED by his limited portrayal of us!
@@KendraNikole I think the main problem is he writes about black women when he doesn't really know black women and about black romance like he has never had one. 😒
I don't think that's what Tyler Perry thinks of us I think that's what non black people think of us unfortunately Tyler Perry is making money off of the black women and truth be told he always has I enjoy the plays and the movies I don't take anything personal when it comes to Tyler Perry
Ditto
That's me too. The only one I can say that I liked was The Family that Preys and that was because of Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard but it still had the same problems a lot of his other movies have for me. But as far as his audience is concerned the movies have been showing diminishing returns for a while now. The early Madea movies were making nearly $100 mil but the recent ones have been taking in about half and I think that's why his new stuff looks so much cheaper than his older movies.
He obviously does not like to spend the cash. He cuts corners everywhere.
Tyler knows his audience at the end of the day. The people riding for him will continue to do so. I'm not one of them so I don't watch. Bashing him is unnecessary. If you don't like it don't watch.
tlady2 , Thank You Beloved For Being Real And True About Your Comment 😉
tlady2 I understand what you’re saying but I don’t know if critiquing is necessarily bashing.
We are his audience. We want quality movies...not rushed BS
We keep watching hoping for something good.
At what point should this audience that he claims to care about so much get insulted by his lack on consideration for details. I mean you’re insulting our intelligence sir 🙄🙄

Everybody wants to talk around the truth Tyler is working the shit* out of his staff along with the actors and the reason he is rushing his work is because he is doing budget-friendly work with people that are non-union and they can't say a word because they feel obligated to keep their job.
