I feel the same. How could anyone not feel compassion for him and how could anyone attack him out of insane ideology? You can see his nervousness and reticence but his bravery shines through. This should not have happened to him and our medical establishment should never have allowed it. We put our lives in the hands of doctors and trust them to cut us and remove parts of our bodies because we are taught that they are there to make us better and they are committed to do that above any other concern. I'm a retired mental health advocate of 19 years and agree that this person has been abused by the system. His chronic ocd and depression should have been treated first before having gender therapy. This is unethical and disturbing.
“Depression” can you prove it exists? Could it be that psychologists gaslight people into their “depression” for monetary gain? Recurring clients , good money to be made. I’ve yet to see any scientist prove it exists. My theory is that the ‘woke’ disease started with this concept called depression, a made up ‘illness’ to convince people there’s something wrong with them, push it all over TV social media so that they get help. I resigned from a plastic surgery hospital after our surgeon gave a beautiful 18 year old woman a double mastectomy. I was very uncomfortable about it and I said something, but I was told she had had counselling before the surgery. I thought, this is not right, no young woman knows what she wants at 18 years old. All the surgeons care about is the money they are making to buy their fancy cars and houses.
First of all, don't infantilize women. People know what they want. If they are confirmed mentally healthy and have already reached the age of majority, they can do whatever they want with their body. It's their life their body. Respect the body's anatomy. 18 year olds are not children who need supervision, they can choose for themselves and be responsible for themselves.

As a young female, l rode horses, loved guns, and raced cars. As an Older female, l married, had kids, never had any really close longterm female relationships, hated most all women’s meetings, get togethers or conferences, baby and wedding showers, shopping, all yuck. Never could decorate anything, make flower arrangements or wrap pretty packages. Hated being pregnant beyond all l could even express and childbirth was a horrible experience, but l loved my kids, nursed them, tho l didn’t want to, was a good mom, took good care of them, had fun with them, still have good relationships with them as adults and love my grandkids too. I loved my physical relationship with my second husband of 33 yrs, but not with the first one, a 5 yr disaster. I am very plain spoken. I don’t do drama and l am not needy. Most women don’t like me nor l them, except for the ones in my family. Being different is okay. It doesn’t mean you’re trapped in a different body or that you are somehow perverse because you don’t enjoy pregnancy or like girly stuff. It just means you’re not that kind of female. I enjoyed working and making money. I didn’t put up with endless and indefinite crap from men and was never “submissive” but l understood my husband and didn’t have unrealistic expectations of him. He was stoic. I found that stabilizing and appealing. All of this ridiculous gender mess is insane, sad, and devastating to individuals and to society. God made us a certain way biologically and we should embrace that to have a happy life. Yes, lve always been considered a weird duck, but my life has worked and been successful in most ways. God has blessed me and l am grateful!

I'm a neurodivergent 'manly' woman, the world was against me for just not complying with my gender 'rules' for most of my life.I do a (mostly) male job and I talk a lot about tools etc. I don't really care anymore tbh, but what if I had someone back in the day telling me that I felt rejected, not because society is culturally rigid about gender roles but because I'm in the wrong body and I should cut my boobs out? As a vulnerable teenager I could have been convinced that was the case. So instead of making more flexibe those 'rules' people'd rather go into a life changing procedure. Which is baffling to me, you dont need to become a woman to use a skirt and wear pink. Just put on that damned skirt, you can still be called a man and be accepted with your pink skirt. That is what shows me that society isn't more tolerant nor open, we still need to label as a freak to people who want different things and force them to go into surgery instead of just accept differences without making a big deal. As a psychologist, I am horrified at the treatment you got from the psychologist. You have been horribly abused by doctors and psychologists. It must be terribly difficult to come to terms with. I think what your trying to say is that it's possible that ethical lines were broken.This patient might have felt that the psychologist put an idea into his head that was not his own. Firstly we've no idea what actually was said or how it was said or what the context was. But I would agree if this did happen as told twice and third person to hear it that a psychologist would suggest they might be the wrong gender, it's not ok for a psychologist to be exerting their view on anyone. It's against the profession's ethical code.

This alludes to a question I (and others) have had regarding all of this: why, if a biological male is experiencing "gender dysphoria" do the doctors not investigate the lad's natural hormone levels (testosterone et al.) and figure out if there's a deficit? We now know that our environment (our food, our water, our clothes) bombards us all with endocrine disruptors such as glyphosate (found in pesticides like RoundUp) and plastics/microplastics. I'm 60, and transitioned from female to male (just testosterone), in 2008, at 44. I de-transitioned in 2018. I was a very feminine & attractive female all of my life. However, I was also extremely athletic (trained professionally for the 1984-88 US Summer Olympics (Track & Field; power lifting, & body building). I was born w/PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, so I had a problem w/facial/body hair, I was barren, never developed breasts, well endowed below, & such. I was also very bothered by males, and actually got 2 male stalkers. I was always a Lipstick Lesbian, but I was also molested by 5 male family members, from under a year old until I was 16. Without realizing it, I transitioned because I was trying to stop being bothered by men. Yet, that issue didn't get solved, because then I had male to female Trans women bothering me. Once I realized the truth, I de-transitioned. I should have taken more time to try & figure everything out. My voice is back to normal, but I can grow a full beard/mustache. I do regret transition; also because I am a Born Again Christian. I've been alone since 2004, and I have no interest in relationships, sex, or anything else that has to do with dating/relationships. Transman here. Love the courage this dude has, this is the reality of transitioning, we need more people sharing these types of stories. Detransitioners are forever going to be the strongest in my world. These surgeries,medication, and everything that goes with it, is for life not just a phase. I can’t get my wife pregnant, I can’t stop taking these meds, I also choose this and know the side effects. As much as trans people are in the schools and disney world talking about their surgeries and praising this lifestyle,we need twice as many detransitioners talking to these kids and telling them all the facts. my mom (an RN) was hired to do private wound care for a transman who got phalloplasty - my mom said she would NEVER recommend the surgery to anyone because its such a delicate fraught recovery with insanely high chance of complications.
Also, the use of the term phalloplasty in this case is a misnomer, as is the case with a lot of the language T ideology uses. Phalloplasty is used for some men who have been injured in war, or a car crash for example. Not using flesh from a woman’s forearm to sew onto her crotch. But, using the term phalloplasty allows them to say things like “they do it on cis men”. Yes, because they’re men, terms like cis, in turn, allow these people to say that cis men and trans men are just types of men. When in fact, “cis” men are the only type of men.

@@SheridanM-dc1nk I worked on a plastic surgery ward over 40 years ago and when a person transitioned from female to male, firstly the double mastectomy, then usually 2 years later a neo-phallus was constructed from a radial forearm flap. Back then no surgery was undertaken on any person under 18 years of age, and you would be referred to a psychiatrist. The treatment and management plan would be, you would be expected to live as a male or female, wear clothing that would identify you as such. You had to agree to follow protocols the psychiatrist stipulated. Keep appointments and engage with referrals to the departments psychologist and any nurses involved with your care. If a person was diagnosed with other mental disorders /illness this would effect how to help and offer medical, and ultimately surgical interventions. I never met anyone who regretted asking for help. I do remember nursing and caring for patients who were naturally very distressed when complications arose and the surgery was not successful. People used to move to London and get referred to a London hospital because they knew they would get help and be treated by empathetic professionals. I also met people who had personality disorders and threatened various degrees of self-harm because they felt the treatment wasn't moving quickly enough and believed that this approach would get them what they ultimately wanted. Very occasionally there were threats to members of the team and this behaviour resulted in immediate discharge from the clinic. That was then. Now maybe we should consider the motivations of professionals working in this specialty. We only have to reflect what happened at the Tavistock Clinic. I believe this young person would not have had gender reassignment with their presenting psychiatric diagnosis 40 years ago. Now it feels like the safeguards are highly questionable. Listening to this is making me feel very angry TBH.
As someone who's struggled with mental health my whole life, it makes me physically ill and REALLY angry that these "medical professionals" took advantage of Ritchie's vulnerable state. In my most chaotic and low periods, where I felt like I had no self-identity, I can see now that I could've easily been manipulated in a similar way. It scares the crap out of me thinking of the types of irreparable life changing decisions I could've been convinced to make.

I consulted a doctor about removing a benign lump on my testes. He advised against it due to the high risk of contracting a flesh-eating bacteria, which is extremely difficult to treat. If a minor procedure carries such significant risks, imagine the dangers associated with more invasive surgeries.

I feel the same. How could anyone not feel compassion for him and how could anyone attack him out of insane ideology? You can see his nervousness and reticence but his bravery shines through. This should not have happened to him and our medical establishment should never have allowed it. We put our lives in the hands of doctors and trust them to cut us and remove parts of our bodies because we are taught that they are there to make us better and they are committed to do that above any other concern. Who else do we trust to touch or cut our heart or brain? That is a trust that must never be betrayed.

I'm a retired mental health advocate of 19 years and agree that this person has been abused by the system.
His chronic ocd and depression should have been treated first before having gender therapy. This is unethical and disturbing.
“Depression” can you prove it exists? Could it be that psychologists gaslight people into their “depression” for monetary gain? Recurring clients , good money to be made. I’ve yet to see any scientist prove it exists.

I resigned from a plastic surgery hospital after our surgeon gave a beautiful 18 year old woman a double mastectomy. I was very uncomfortable about it and I said something, but I was told she had had counselling before the surgery. I thought, this is not right, no young woman knows what she wants at 18 years old. All the surgeons care about is the money they are making to buy their fancy cars and houses.

As a young female, l rode horses, loved guns, and raced cars. As an Older female, l married, had kids, never had any really close longterm female relationships, hated most all women’s meetings, get togethers or conferences, baby and wedding showers, shopping, all yuck. Never could decorate anything, make flower arrangements or wrap pretty packages. Hated being pregnant beyond all l could even express and childbirth was a horrible experience, but l loved my kids, nursed them, tho l didn’t want to, was a good mom, took good care of them, had fun with them, still have good relationships with them as adults and love my grandkids too. I loved my physical relationship with my second husband of 33 yrs, but not with the first one, a 5 yr disaster. I am very plain spoken. I don’t do drama and l am not needy. Most women don’t like me nor l them, except for the ones in my family.
Being different is okay. It doesn’t mean you’re trapped in a different body or that you are somehow perverse because you don’t enjoy pregnancy or like girly stuff. It just means you’re not that kind of female. I enjoyed working and making money. I didn’t put up with endless and indefinite crap from men and was never “submissive” but l understood my husband and didn’t have unrealistic expectations of him. He was stoic. I found that stabilizing and appealing. All of this ridiculous gender mess is insane, sad, and devastating to individuals and to society. God made us a certain way biologically and we should embrace that to have a happy life. Yes, lve always been considered a weird duck, but my life has worked and been successful in most ways. God has blessed me and l am grateful!

Which is baffling to me, you dont need to become a woman to use a skirt and wear pink. Just put on that damned skirt, you can still be called a man and be accepted with your pink skirt. Firstly we've no idea what actually was said or how it was said or what the context was. But I would agree if this did happen as told twice and third person to hear it that a psychologist would suggest they might be the wrong gender, it's not ok for a psychologist to be exerting their view on anyone. It's against the profession's ethical code.

My nephew could have EASILY been one of these 'trans' kids if we made a big deal about him wearing girl clothes and having long hair sometimes when he was younger.. he grew out of it.. still has long hair but that's the thing a child is going to do whatever gets them the most attention. These super lib parents are so excited to have a 'trans' kid that they shower then with love and affection. If you're an actual transsexual with gender dysphoria you will transition as an adult all the same. I'm all for if they want to dress like a girl or boy through their child ears but save the surgery for when they are actually consenting adults and bring back the two year counseling minimums.
Blocking out the names of the doctors that performed this mutilation does no one any favors. They need to be called out. They should be on warning posters, and their licensing removed.

This alludes to a question I (and others) have had regarding all of this: why, if a biological male is experiencing "gender dysphoria" do the doctors not investigate the lad's natural hormone levels (testosterone et al.) and figure out if there's a deficit? We now know that our environment (our food, our water, our clothes) bombards us all with endocrine disruptors such as glyphosate (found in pesticides like RoundUp) and plastics/microplastics. Instead, these young people are being herded into some 'brave new world' (a utopia for the managers, a dystopia for the experiencers).

I'm 60, and transitioned from female to male (just testosterone), in 2008, at 44. I de-transitioned in 2018. I was a very feminine & attractive female all of my life. However, I was also extremely athletic (trained professionally for the 1984-88 US Summer Olympics (Track & Field; power lifting, & body building). I was born w/PCOS, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, so I had a problem w/facial/body hair, I was barren, never developed breasts, well endowed below, & such. I was also very bothered by males, and actually got 2 male stalkers. I was always a Lipstick Lesbian, but I was also molested by 5 male family members, from under a year old until I was 16. Without realizing it, I transitioned because I was trying to stop being bothered by men. Yet, that issue didn't get solved, because then I had male to female Trans women bothering me. Once I realized the truth, I de-transitioned. I should have taken more time to try & figure everything out. My voice is back to normal, but I can grow a full beard/mustache. I do regret transition; also because I am a Born Again Christian. I've been alone since 2004, and I have no interest in relationships, sex, or anything else that has to do with dating/relationships. Transman here. Love the courage this dude has, this is the reality of transitioning, we need more people sharing these types of stories. Detransitioners are forever going to be the strongest in my world. These surgeries,medication, and everything that goes with it, is for life not just a phase. my mom (an RN) was hired to do private wound care for a transman who got phalloplasty - my mom said she would NEVER recommend the surgery to anyone because its such a delicate fraught recovery with insanely high chance of complications.
Also, the use of the term phalloplasty in this case is a misnomer, as is the case with a lot of the language T ideology uses. Phalloplasty is used for some men who have been injured in war, or a car crash for example. Not using flesh from a woman’s forearm to sew onto her crotch. But, using the term phalloplasty allows them to say things like “they do it on cis men”. Yes, because they’re men, terms like cis, in turn, allow these people to say that cis men and trans men are just types of men. When in fact, “cis” men are the only type of men.

@@SheridanM-dc1nk I worked on a plastic surgery ward over 40 years ago and when a person transitioned from female to male, firstly the double mastectomy, then usually 2 years later a neo-phallus was constructed from a radial forearm flap.
Back then no surgery was undertaken on any person under 18 years of age, and you would be referred to a psychiatrist. The treatment and management plan would be, you would be expected to live as a male or female, wear clothing that would identify you as such. You had to agree to follow protocols the psychiatrist stipulated. Keep appointments and engage with referrals to the departments psychologist and any nurses involved with your care.
If a person was diagnosed with other mental disorders /illness this would effect how to help and offer medical, and ultimately surgical interventions.
I never met anyone who regretted asking for help. I do remember nursing and caring for patients who were naturally very distressed when complications arose and the surgery was not successful. People used to move to London and get referred to a London hospital because they knew they would get help and be treated by empathetic professionals.
I also met people who had personality disorders and threatened various degrees of self-harm because they felt the treatment wasn't moving quickly enough and believed that this approach would get them what they ultimately wanted. Very occasionally there were threats to members of the team and this behaviour resulted in immediate discharge from the clinic. That was then. Now maybe we should consider the motivations of professionals working in this specialty. We only have to reflect what happened at the Tavistock Clinic.
I believe this young person would not have had gender reassignment with their presenting psychiatric diagnosis 40 years ago. Now it feels like the safeguards are highly questionable.

As someone who's struggled with mental health my whole life, it makes me physically ill and REALLY angry that these "medical professionals" took advantage of Ritchie's vulnerable state. In my most chaotic and low periods, where I felt like I had no self-identity, I can see now that I could've easily been manipulated in a similar way. It scares the crap out of me thinking of the types of irreparable life changing decisions I could've been convinced to make.

It's more of a general observation of how in such a vulnerable state a "mental health professional" with questionable motives could've convinced me of alot of things that weren't based in objective reality. @@TheLodjurthe agenda was to make money. Someone who undergoes these poorly studied and overly hyped surgeries will be a permanent patient, netting the industry millions of dollars per patient. They wanted to confuse him enough that he would take the next step and then the next along the transition path that was promising a result that was never truly possible instead of treating him the way he really needed. He needed mental health help. Instead he got butchered for profit. Watch the video. Maybe look up Chloe Cole and some of the other detransitioners. It’s really terrible how they’re treated.
i think what is determined is this person will become a burden on society or kill themselves if we dont enable this. basically they can't help without any sort of harmful intervention. you either enable it , or do something like lobotomize them or lock them up so they dont hurt them selves or others.
maybe it should be restricted to age 25. people can body mod all they want. but to turn it into this thing doctors determine and politics is involved in i'm just not sure thats the way. treat it like people who get cosmetic surgery. I backed trans people for years until i met a series of trans people who were essentially anti trans. They kept repeating we are men who found it easier to navigate the world disguised as women. they see everything easier from projecting like a woman but the thing is their idea of a women is always wrong. its usually based in sex and presenting sexually or actually flirty and sexually. it basically is a way to mask them from looking as creepy as they would appearing like a man. there is a lot that could be said about it. but that right there among the endless amount of awful experience i had making friends with these people i think something is terribly wrong with this movement. i think its a spectrum and not every case is the same but there is something awfully wrong with the people and the establishment behind it that is harmful to others and the individual.

I consulted a doctor about removing a benign lump on my testes. He advised against it due to the high risk of contracting a flesh-eating bacteria, which is extremely difficult to treat. If a minor procedure carries such significant risks, imagine the dangers associated with more invasive surgeries.
This is why doctors will warn you. This is why trans people have to consult many doctors. This is why this video is fake because they don’t just operate on you without warning you. Also you’d think if you’re gonna do invasive surgery like that you’d at least Google it first.
There're surgeries that have been made illegal for having even over 1 to 2 percent failure rate. So one with 20 percent failure rate that's invasive and not medically live saving is fucking bonkers mate
