I admit- It took me WAY too long to figure out what ESPN+ is. It's only been out for about a year now, but I finally did it! And that's what we're going to talk about today. I know i'm a little slow. ESPN+ already has about 2 million subscribers, so many of you probably already have it. If you're not a subscriber yet, let's make you one!
Before we get started- don't forget to like and subscribe for more videos like this- / @mikeobrienmedia
What is ESPN+? Well, let’s start with what it isn’t.
● Not ESPN. No Sportscenter, no Skip Bayless or Steven A Smith, no marquee live events
● This means not much (if any!) of the big American sports- NFL, NBA, MLB, or NHL (You will get a LOT of soccer- MLS & European)
● Not your place to watch the big college football game either
● It’s $5/mo (7-day trial)
● Available on all the major devices- literally!
It’s tempting to think of ESPN+ as ESPN’s warmed-up leftovers. And if you’re only a casual sports fan, that might be accurate enough. But honestly, it’s not. It's complementary. There are two major categories of things to watch on ESPN+. I’ll save the best for last, but let’s start with the live sports.
You get TONS of live sports outside of the big marquee events on ESPN+.
● Soccer - All out-of-market MLS games (just like MLB.TV, NBA.TV and NHL.TV), plus some English and European leagues as well. If you're a soccer fan- this is a GREAT deal!
● Rugby
● Cricket
● Canadian Football
● Some college sports- Mid-tier football, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, track & field, field hockey, or … squash
● Boxing, MMA
● You do get at least one MLB and an NHL game-of-the-day, but it’s the same one you’d get for free on MLB.TV or NHL.TV
Outside of live sports, you also get sports-related shows. And this is, in my opinion, the real strength of ESPN+.
● 30 For 30 programs. Like, all of them! And there's WAY more than 30!
● ESPN+ Originals. These are super niche, but really well done.
My favorite of the Originals is a show called Detail, where Kobe Bryant breaks down the skills of NBA stars, or Peyton Manning does the same for NFL plays and players. And there's a lot more where that came from.
So.... is ESPN+ worth $5. ABSOLUTELY!!! If you love sports content, then this is absolutely what you're looking for. And we now know that with Disney buying Hulu, there's potential for a really good bundle coming soon (Hulu, Disney+ & ESPN+). It's going to be pretty great!
But again, if you're only looking for a ton of MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL content, ESPN+ isnt' for you. If you love soccer or the niche sports I mentioned, this is totally worth it for you.
I sometimes say that I’m starting to think the key to saving money on TV service is to divorce ourselves from the notion that we MUST have live TV. Similarly, if you want to save money on your sports content and you can be happy without a ton of marquee sports, then ESPN+ for $5 is a frickin’ steal! You get all the niche sports, a ton of documentaries, so you can have a lot of sports content for cheap- if you're willing to let go of live TV.

Gotta admit, I'm a fan of ESPN+! Well worth $5 in my opinion. What are the biggest pros/cons and Inclusions/omissions of ESPN+. Maybe one day we'll have a single ESPN channel with all the ESPN content.... in the meantime, i'll keep dreaming!

@@ReviewsOrg I buy the NHL package for games. Yes I miss the NBCSN and NHL network games buy get everything else (with both home/away feeds when applicable. Many of the Canadian v Canadian teams are national up there) as far as hockey news...I listen to NHL network radio on Siriusxm.

It's the most exciting sport on ESPN+
You answered the question in the first minute and 15 seconds: NO! At least, for my interests.
It angered some folks when events and shows that were on ESPN3 or watch ESPN went to ESPN Plus. Low costing but it is a way they say for ESPN to gain money they lost due to susbscribers leaving. Mostly it has certain events or sports and shows that are created for ESPN Plus or were moved to it. This video does a good job of explaining it.
We like to get right to the point! That's the nice thing about niche streaming services. Most everyone can find the flavor they want and avoid the ones they don't. Glad we could help ;)

@@Domtooboss that's what I be thinking its like hulu dropped the price and their service went to crap then espn+ adds ads to almost every screen on the app and disney plus only has kid stuff its like this could easily all be on package and one streaming service but no they got 3 different services w 3 different packages each tk get a little bit of everything they alteady own
ESPN+ really annoyed me last fall, because they removed a bunch of college football games that were on ESPN 3 and didn't cost extra, and put them on there. So if you went to a smaller school, you missed half on the games because they were on plus instead.
Yeah, a few of us we're super bummed when ESPN 3 went away.
@@ReviewsOrg ESPN 3 still exists, although you need a cable subscription to either ESPN or ABC. ESPN+ is just used overflow of ESPN content and ESPN 3 games.

They trip HARD on that! The average fan ain't paying extra to watch Libery vs North Texas or a matchup like that. I hope the app crashes and they quit trynna take advantage of sports fans
I hated the idea of ESPN+. I used to buy all the UFC PPV's, but I stopped as soon as they made you join ESPN+ to see them. I imagine the UFC lost a lot of loyal viewers who pay that way.
As a Juventus fan, ESPN+ was a game changer for me. Worth it for the soccer alone.
Do you get all serie A games via espn+?

@@ReviewsOrg I am a NY City FC fan who has yet to see them play on ESPN plus because their games are sometimes blacked out in my area of New England,Revolution games are too,whenever they play at home and that is frustrating but still I have access to many others and now with the Copa America this summer,it is a great time to be a soccer fan!!!
Guys, can y’all answer a few questions plz. Do you know if they show La Liga soccer games? Also, do they show top tier boxing fights, perhaps like top rank? If getting this, is it safe to say I won’t miss out on any UFC PPV fights?
@@TheSantos173 no La Liga games (I have Bein Sports on Sling for that)but mainly Serie A ,MLS, Sky Bet Championship ,English League one and two,Eredivisie ,Chinese league and a few others. A good amount of UFC and some good boxing but I am more into the soccer as there is plenty here if you are a soccer fan than anything else and at only 5 a month it is well worth it ,imo! Hope that helps your decision.

Perhaps I missed it but I see no mention of whether ESPN+ allows us to watch a NCAA FB game (that's only on ESPN+) this weekend delayed as we won't be home when it's live on ESPN+ ?
ESPN+ has games archived on their website and the ESPN app. It usually takes 30 mins to a few hours for games to appear archived after the live broadcast ends.

ESPN, the CABLE network, is $7+ (depending on cable provider) by itself. ESPN+ is $5, and its used as an overflow of ESPN 3 content as well as ESPN overflow.

I decided to Subscribe when I found out the first Wild game of the season was going to be an ESPN+ Exclusive. I actually enjoy it now with plenty of NHL and I'd definitely rather watch small College Basketball over any NBA game too.

I've found that I often cannot access ESPN+ despite maintaining a subscription. As often as not, the log-in fails with a polite message that "something went wrong, try again," there's no response to inquiries to tech support, and that generally I feel my pocket has been picked. In short, if you want the enjoy the frustration of being unable to access events you're paid for and little technical support when problems arise, ESPN+ is tailor-made for you.

For FBS on ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPNU, ESPN 3, etc., get any cable provider or Sling TV, Hulu Live TV, or RUclips TV. For FCS Football, get ESPN+.

Damn I been waiting for that Disney bundle, and I got it. ESPN plus is pretty garbage... UFC is nice except you have to still pay for Pay-Per-View events. 😕 The live sports are just not worth watching. Almost feels like you could have just saved yourself the extra 5 from not getting the bundle and getting Disney and Hulu apart.
Yea the better deal is to get the Annual with Disney+ and the regular Hulu. ESPN+ without live NBA or NFL games is not worth it

The only reason I'd get ESPN+ is because it's technically free with the Hulu-Disney bundle.

I would love this. Me and my family love soccer and we love watching Champions league, MLS and International Tournaments like Copa America, Euros and African Cup of Nations
They don't have Champions League, TNT has the television rights in the US .

Yes. But you need their annual subscription which is $59.99 then you have to buy the fight for $29.99. It’s really not worth it..

I think it's worth it, on my Amazon Fire stick I have ESPN+ and I had ordered UFC 239 Jones vs Santos and UFC 240 Holloway vs Edgar and never had a problem with it. I order the ppvs with the firestick remote on the app and bam the ppv starts at the scheduled time

I feel like these shows should be on regular ESPN, especially the show Primetime with Chris Berman. Regular ESPN content is getting terrible
Keep in mind that ESPN+ is used for overflow of content coming in to and from ESPN.

It’s weird tho because I was able to watch Serie A, Europa League, Eriedevisel, etc. with no problems. I wonder why it shows up that we need tv providers to watch the Euros. I got ESPN+ because the bundle deal with Disney+. I thought it would be good for watching Serie A and other soccer games. And yeah you get the games, but the broadcast is so boring! I don't know if ESPN intentionally blocks crowd noise, but that's a big part of the experience, and I have watch Juventus play 3 matches so far, and it's always super quiet except for the commentators. Not a fan of that.
ESPN+ just brings you the game and plays commercials, it's the production crew at the site of the game that manages the audio for the broadcast.
Espn + is not espn. You will not be able to watch the homerun derby 2022 on espn plus. Even though it airs on espn.
No and I don't want it don't want the ESPN basic and I definitely don't want to be paying a "Sports" tax and a "News" tax on my cable bill. Together it's about fifteen bucks or more for garbage I don't use.
I got this only because of the disney+ bundle, was hoping for at least a few F1 races. Too bad.

I'm hearing if you bundle it through hulu you can't watch it through the ESPN app. That true? Basically you're stuck only being able to watch it through hulu.
You don't get the Hulu TV, you just get regular Hulu with just on demand shows.

Most games are free on NFL app on iphone and android devices. The only problem is you could only view it on mobile device and not on TV.
