Still very capable against less than stellar military but will have trouble getting through to good air defense. My guess is China plan on using these as long range bombers but will release them at missile range.
It is just a launch vehicle for increasingly potent missile tech that will be integrated into the next generation bomber.. Pretty good longevity of a platform.

Well, it is designed to use super long range missiles so it could be effective in modern combat. But the international treaty limited export missiles to have a max range of only 300km.
To my understanding, the Badgers were meant to fire their SSMs at standoff distances from American CVs, beyond the effective reach of their CAP. Either way, it's just another area-denial weapon to keep the Americans from effectively intervening in the upcoming Taiwan campaign.
They've been improving their a2ap abilities for years, USN have always been developing their naval force capabilities to be capable of defending themselves from PLAN's threats, but to do all the things in the ship is rather difficult
Though it was designed as a medium range bomber, not a strategic bomber, with advancements in missile technology, avionics, engines, and composite materials, it almost has strategic capabilities. Great example of a good airframe design that can be upgraded to meet modern requirements. It may look like a Badger, but it most certainly is not!!
If the DF 21 or 16 missiles can already reach the second island chain or Guam..why endanger the planes to be send out...just launch those DF missiles whereever they are after all tney have the range ?
Probably because ground-based missile launchers are fixed-position or lack the mobility of air-based launchers. After the United States created the Strategic Air Command back in the 1950s, the doctrine at one point was to keep an amount of strategic bombers in the air at all times, ready to deliver the first strike or retaliatory strikes at any moment.
@@rationalthinker2200 The only thing preventing them from being shot down is their ability to stay out of range. The same reasoning is keeping the B-52s in service until the 2050s. I assume the Russians have similar projections for the TU-95.
A long range bomber is always needed as a backup to fix large missile because what if the DF-21 miss hitting ships or land base target on a island. The bomber will act as the backup.
Personally, I never liked how the H-6 series. It always looked so primitive to me, and honestly would be put at greater risks as USN A2A missiles begin to catch up with PLA variants in reach. Hopefully the H-20 or the new shorter-ranged Chinese tactical bomber addresses these deficiencies with superior signal optimization and kinematics.
@@qiyuxuan9437 That's indeed the intention, but you can't always expect adversary forces to be cooperative. Being able to approach adversary targets without being noticed by long-wavelength radar would put the bomber at far less risk whilst increasing the probability of kill of any cruise missile that's launched.
Hardly comparable tbh, PLAN would likely seek to have something similar in the distance future. Right now capabilities offered by the B-52 like the ultra long range, immense payload and such is pretty much non-existent for China.
@@grandgao3984 China got ICBM both in land base and sea. China doesn't really need a long rang bomber because China objective is self defend in her own backyard. B-52 flying elephant its will be easy spot and shot down before its reach Maind China airspace.

This plane is nothing else, but Russian Tu-16, built back in 1955. So, this "great military power", a.k.a. PRC has nothing better than a plane developed 70 years ago? BTW, the fatality rate of TY-16 (i.e. plane lost due to non-combat failure) is 16%. It means 16 out 100 planes made are lost due to mechanical failures.

It's very impressive how these old bombers (H-6, B-52, Tu-95) keep on soldiering.
b21 is comin tho

They seen to be very effective as a weapon planform, not outdated than even newer bomber.

No point in designing a totally new airframe if the old one works just fine. It seems China have upgraded it considerably.

Thanks! Will do!
Love your videos bro. One of the best channels on Chinese military
Thanks!
Thanks for the fact, a very unbiased report, just numbers and facts! Please continue your great work.
Much appreciated
Tu-16/H-6 is the loveliest bomber ever made.
congrats on 10k subs! absolutely deserved it and can’t wait for more!

Haha nope. All great militaries have found major uses for their lumbering bombers. Love them all.

Great video once again👍
The H-6 is an absolute beast in Modern Warships, haha, though in reality, it would be formidable.
amazing video as always.
Great videos.. Bombers are forever !!!..
Great vid
It's reassuring that the crew at least theoretically can bail out using the ejection seats.
Beautiful plane. I first heard about the Badger Bomber from C&C Red Alert. 😂
LOL same
I believe H-6s will continue to play their role, maybe for another 10 years, although PLA is going to have stealth bomber soon as a new toy.
Beautiful and flexible frame!
With very powerful supersonic missile.

Flying dragons!
The H-6 Badger is newer than the B-52. The H6-N is basically a new aircraft before a new bomber is developed.
Well done China Super. 💪💪👏👏👍👍💯💯❤❤
Old is Gold.
Sounds like a Ship of Theseus. How much is the original H-6 is even left unmodified in the later variants?
Not much at all to be honest!
stunning plane

It will do the easy job under air superiority, carry and drop.
Can you make a video about the latest Russian Tu-160M2/Tu-160R/Tu-160P (Tu-161) ?
Great video as always. I just wanted to ask is there any replacement planned for the H6 J by the PLAAF and PLAN?
H20
the H20 is said to be almost finished, expect to see it within a year or two
I believe H-6s will continue to play their role just like B-52, although PLA is going to have stealth bomber soon as a new toy.
There's the H20 is development, but we don't know if it will be a replacement or will operate alongside the H6 for some time
They can build the Y-20 and COMAC 919 a long range bomber is child's play for them !
United States is no longer the badass on the block!
K/J model cannot do ariel refuel, only N model can
H6 means 26 English letters are not enough😂
How many of these H-6s are modern variants like J and K????
What is the type of H-6 that was imported to Iraqi Air Force to launch silkworm missiles...
What about the H-20 China
It is top secret project. In China military tradition. It will announce to public after services in PLAAF for several years.
You mean the H-6+14? xD
