I moved here 3 days ago. My Daughter rented it. I’m devastated. It’s a F’n war zone. Helicopters all day overhead. Guy drove car by with no tires and it caught on fire. Police came to investigate. While they talked to him someone got stabbed 1000 feet away in plain view of the arrest in progress. I’m literally crying. What a mistake to come here. Moving truck hasn’t arrived. I’m going to have leave.

I took in a homeless lady and she started pushing her weight around and my mom was scared of her so I put her in a hotel three days. I offered her to stay in my cabin in the mountains and she said no. I asked her to stay at my Airbnb as long as she was willing to work, feed and walk dogs and wash clothes and make beds, and she refused. That’s all I could do.

I second that, my wife is Chinese and China is incredibly safe. Although I'm not American and my own country is also really safe, China is on a whole other level. In China my wife can go outside alone at 3am to buy something from the nearby convenience store and I don't have to worry about her getting stabbed or raped.

As someone who lives in California... don’t do it. The California dream isn’t real. The only employment opportunities are for retail and fast food, but even those get competitive. Housing is ridiculously hard to find and you’ll pay upwards of 800 a month just to share a bedroom with someone you probably don’t like. The weather is fine up until it’s fire season, then the air is smoky for a while. Not to mention the prices of healthcare and college. Don’t come here, go to like Switzerland or something LMFAOOO

The "nice area" by Whole Foods saw a horrible crime about five years ago (give or take) where a homeless guy attacked and beat an elderly man for no reason right in front of Whole Foods. The victim died a few days later at the hospital.

It's getting like this in other areas too not just downtown LA. Long Beach, Wilmington, Hollywood, Gardena. I live in OC and don't go to LA anymore. Whenever I go I feel just such sadness seeing all the tents and people on the streets. It's starting to get this way in OC too.
This is an issue in every major city in America. It's the same in Philly, Seattle, Denver, and in Dallas where I live. I've noticed that there's more homeless ppl now due to this pandemic. Whole tent cities have popped up out of nowhere. Unfortunately most of the homeless are drug addicts. When faced living with despair and most suffer with mental illness. It's much easier to cope by getting high. So they live life by one fix at a time. It's hard to get out of that situation as well. Most have no way to work, they don't have identification in order to work. Can't afford to ride public transportation every day in order to get to work either. So what are they supposed to do? Only so many of them can pan handle, most scrap, or hustle in some form. Then most resort to crime, but not all of them are lost causes. There are actually ppl that have fell on some hard times. No one wants to be homeless, there's just no resources to actually solve this problem.

Watching this from Dublin Ireland and it's so saddening to see. I was in downtown five years ago but it seems to have gotten so much worse since then and it was pretty bad back then. Really shocking and unfortunate. I hope things improve for people businesses and property markets.
I ride a motorcycle. After getting a tattoo at downtown that took long enough for it to be sundown when I came out, I was greeted by the sight of tents and campfires in the middle of the downtown streets. Homeless roaming everywhere. Riding through those streets was like walking through zombies at horror nights.
@@Jooeffoh you should understand then. The limited protection offered by a motorcycle makes riding through these unpredictable tent communities especially dangerous. They can approach you aggressively at a stop, or toss objects at you.

I'm glad you got out of there I live in North Carolina I own a condo with a pool and I know a kid who comes here to see his grandma I met him in 2018 so basically 2 years ago it was at our pool is when I met he was 12 years old at the time and the age for a kid to go to our pool by himself is 12 and he'd skate board down to our pool his name is Shane and he's from la anyways one day I was was down at the pool cleaning it and he had his younger causion Micah at the pool with him Micah had to have been 10 or 11 at the time and I heard a story from them when they lived in la and it was a sad story Micah was bullied alot in school when living in la he couldn't simply walk down the hallways to go to his locker with out getting pushed down to the floor by bullies he could even get on a school bus with out a bullied putting his foot in the isle to trip him he couldent go skate boarding with out being bullied by the other kids in the skate park and at the LA schools they wouldn't do anything about the bullieing they wouldn't take care of any of those problems but now that they are living in ashville nc Wich is a big city but it's better taken care of Micha get accepted by all the other kids their good to hime they love him and he hasn't been bullied since

I left California in 2004 and haven't looked back. I'm currently living in Hanoi Vietnam and including rent spend around a 1000 dollars a month or maybe even less depending on if I'm traveling or not or extra expensives for the month. Life in Asia for expats is a lot easier than trying to survive back home especially in the current situation. We're lucky here as they have done a great job controlling the spread of covid. I couldn't imagine trying to get by financially back home.

I moved here 3 days ago. My Daughter rented it. I’m devastated. It’s a F’n war zone. Helicopters all day overhead. Guy drove car by with no tires and it caught on fire. Police came to investigate. While they talked to him someone got stabbed 1000 feet away in plain view of the arrest in progress. I’m literally crying. What a mistake to come here. Moving truck hasn’t arrived. I took in a homeless lady and she started pushing her weight around and my mom was scared of her so I put her in a hotel three days. I offered her to stay in my cabin in the mountains and she said no. I asked her to stay at my Airbnb as long as she was willing to work, feed and walk dogs and wash clothes and make beds, and she refused. That’s all I could do.

I second that, my wife is Chinese and China is incredibly safe. Although I'm not American and my own country is also really safe, China is on a whole other level. In China my wife can go outside alone at 3am to buy something from the nearby convenience store and I don't have to worry about her getting stabbed or raped.

As someone who lives in California... don’t do it. The California dream isn’t real. The only employment opportunities are for retail and fast food, but even those get competitive. Housing is ridiculously hard to find and you’ll pay upwards of 800 a month just to share a bedroom with someone you probably don’t like. The weather is fine up until it’s fire season, then the air is smoky for a while. Not to mention the prices of healthcare and college. Don’t come here, go to like Switzerland or something LMFAOOO

Having those tents everywhere on the streets is grim on all counts.
It's getting like this in other areas too not just downtown LA. Long Beach, Wilmington, Hollywood, Gardena. I live in OC and don't go to LA anymore. Whenever I go I feel just such sadness seeing all the tents and people on the streets. It's starting to get this way in OC too.

This is an issue in every major city in America. It's the same in Philly, Seattle, Denver, and in Dallas where I live. I've noticed that there's more homeless ppl now due to this pandemic. Whole tent cities have popped up out of nowhere. Unfortunately most of the homeless are drug addicts. When faced living with despair and most suffer with mental illness. It's much easier to cope by getting high. So they live life by one fix at a time. It's hard to get out of that situation as well. Most have no way to work, they don't have identification in order to work. Can't afford to ride public transportation every day in order to get to work either. So what are they supposed to do? Only so many of them can pan handle, most scrap, or hustle in some form. Then most resort to crime, but not all of them are lost causes. There are actually ppl that have fell on some hard times. No one wants to be homeless, there's just no resources to actually solve this problem.

Watching this from Dublin Ireland and it's so saddening to see. I was in downtown five years ago but it seems to have gotten so much worse since then and it was pretty bad back then. Really shocking and unfortunate. I hope things improve for people businesses and property markets.
I ride a motorcycle. After getting a tattoo at downtown that took long enough for it to be sundown when I came out, I was greeted by the sight of tents and campfires in the middle of the downtown streets. Homeless roaming everywhere. Riding through those streets was like walking through zombies at horror nights.

I'm glad you got out of there I live in North Carolina I own a condo with a pool and I know a kid who comes here to see his grandma I met him in 2018 so basically 2 years ago it was at our pool is when I met he was 12 years old at the time and the age for a kid to go to our pool by himself is 12 and he'd skate board down to our pool his name is Shane and he's from la anyways one day I was was down at the pool cleaning it and he had his younger causion Micah at the pool with him Micah had to have been 10 or 11 at the time and I heard a story from them when they lived in la and it was a sad story Micah was bullied alot in school when living in la he couldn't simply walk down the hallways to go to his locker with out getting pushed down to the floor by bullies he could even get on a school bus with out a bullied putting his foot in the isle to trip him he couldent go skate boarding with out being bullied by the other kids in the skate park and at the LA schools they wouldn't do anything about the bullieing they wouldn't take care of any of those problems but now that they are living in ashville nc Wich is a big city but it's better taken care of Micha get accepted by all the other kids their good to hime they love him and he hasn't been bullied since

Unfortunately, they will continue to do so. As a long time Nevada resident, I've watched my state turn from red to blue virtually overnight. They come here from California to escape high taxes, crime, traffic etc. and vote for the same policies that are ruining California. I'm waiting for Nevada to enact an income tax soon.

One of my cousins Daughter friend. Had to write about what scares her the most and she wrote that Downtown Los Angeles scared her the most. I had another cousin that came from Alabama and her daughters wanted to see skid row to see if it was real. They didn't make it half way they wanted to turn around. 😮.when I was younger I thought that Downtown la was going to be these big tourist place. Where they come to see beautiful buildings , beaches and entertainment. But now is just looking like a third world country.

The problem with the homeless is NOT that they’re homeless. The problem is that approximately 80% or better are mentally ill and/or addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. That is the problem that needs to be addressed

Policy is effected through legislation in most countries. Legislatures are comprised of politicians.

I agree! I'm a fan of JJ and Jeremiah channels. You show how it is. I just got fed up. I worked for the state. Took an early retirement and move to the Philippines. I live on $1,300 a month. Like a king, 4 min walk to beach, 2bd, 2ba apartment with AC. I live in paradise.. and spend only $1,300 a month.. FOR everything, food, rent, utilities, phone, internet, EVERYTHING. and that is for two people. my GF and me. I honestly couldn't afford to retire in my own country. and i'm a U.S veteran. Go figure. If i lived on $1,300 a month in CA. I would have to live in my car. And for $350 dollars. That is my Total food budget for the whole month and beer money for two people! I mean really! Such waste!
I left California in 2004 and haven't looked back. I'm currently living in Hanoi Vietnam and including rent spend around a 1000 dollars a month or maybe even less depending on if I'm traveling or not or extra expensives for the month. Life in Asia for expats is a lot easier than trying to survive back home especially in the current situation. We're lucky here as they have done a great job controlling the spread of covid. I couldn't imagine trying to get by financially back home.

I live in LA, skid row has been crazy for quite sometime now. Homelessness is beyond downtown. It’s a definite problem.
In Florida they banned tents and really tried to help people get off the streets but most shelters have zero tolerance for alcohol you can get away with doing drugs 💉 by going in the bathroom. This is out of control.
Nor New York! I see why people from those places always moving to Texas and Georgia!
San Diego is right behind L.A. and San Francisco. me, my wife and autistic son just left San Diego before Christmas to Savannah Georgia and I’ve never been happier to be out of San Diego. It’s falling too
