Well, can you believe it? I've been doing this for 2 years now... that time has passed so quickly I can't even imagine! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR VOICE. Great at telling stories. Your intro is so cool. LOVE IT!
This is what you do, you make a deal with the person in your basement, that they can live there in your basement if they don't eat you. Then you simply talk to that person give them your WiFi password and consider that person a guest in your home. You weren't afraid of her in the bathroom, so why is it all of a sudden is your life worth so much more? Cooperation is the best idea, the person that is in your basement can protect you from any Intruders that would rob you and do bad things to you, so you have a built-in bodyguard. You need to appreciate that person for what she is and possibly you two can move to a really large city where she can find food and you will always be safe. Think about it calmly. I would love to have a monster in my basement to protect me from anyone that would harm me. I am assuming that the person in your basement is the girl you met in the bathroom.
I appreciate this extremely level-headed approach!
And some just want to eat you then live in your house.
I assumed the thing in the basement was not the girl. It had an entirely different approach. Where the girl was honest and somewhat empathetic for the protagonist, this other entity seems to want nothing more than to terrify her. If, however, it IS the girl then I still wouldn't trust her because obviously there has been a shift in her motives and behavior between initially being compassionate and then suddenly wanting to make the protagonist feel threatened. Plus, the girl had previously done a favor for the protagonist, and we all know how those sort of deals play out - the demon will always want something in return. Usually your soul or whatever.
I got the impression that it wasn't the girl from the bathroom due to the different behavior. It seems to me that a good course of action here would be to negotiate with a locked, sturdy door in between the narrator and the basement critter. If there are any weapons in the house, get them, just in case. If it seems safe (or at least less dangerous) to leave the house, it may be best to do so as the motives of the creature in the basement are uncertain and seem somewhat sinister as it did not say hello on the road before. It seems unwise to trust the creature, whatever the case.
It may be the girl, since because she did a favor for the protagonist, she may need something in return. She probably changed after she killed the protagonist's husband. She became more like of a threatening being now. Or maybe it was just an act, the nice girl persona was mask to convince the protagonist to let her do the favor by killing the cheating husband, and now that mask is completely gone, replaced by the true cold and unforgiving girl she just witnessed.

It's hard to imagine you just starting out. Your narrations are so smooth and beautifully done. Perhaps in this story, the demon, who was so unhappy about becoming a demon, just really needed a friend. And our protagonist was the only one who understood? Nope. Never trust a demon. OMG!! Thank you for mentioning Nova Scotia Canada! I've been there and it can be both beautiful and spooky! BTW, my story is in Halifax!
You should check out some pictures of the Cascades, the Olympic Peninsula, and the Hoh Rain Forest here in Washington, they have maximum spookiness levels. The Hoh (pronounced like hoe) is especially creepy because it's on top of a minor mountain range and due to rather unique weather patterns it gets 190+ inches of rain a year in some areas, it's also a *very* old growth forest thats untouched in some areas, and due to all the rain it's as thick as any other rainforest and its filled with moss, and it also gets filled with fog. Alot of horror movies and dark movies/tv shows are filmed there to give it that "dark, foreboding forest" feel. It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen during the day but at night it can turn into the spookiest forest you've ever seen.
