why are so many singaporeans getting so worked up about how they ate the kaya toast, posting all these comments mocking them... Sometimes I think we are too inflexible and rigid in our mindsets. C'mon, kaya toast isn't fine dining. People can eat it anyway they like. When foreigners come here and are making the effort to seek out and try local food and explore local culture, we should be more gracious and less judgemental. some people eat their oreos as a whole, while some people lick the icing off the biscuit before eating the biscuit. Some people like to dip their macs fries in ice cream. We can eat kaya toast however we want.
Totally right. Although I don't do it, I have friends that dip their toast in the egg all the time.

I actually eat it that way, so it is sweet and salty and peppery at the same time. Hahaha...so I insist my toast and my eggs are ready at the same time, and I insist my Kaya Toast to be warm at least if not hot (but only at my usual outlets)

HAHAHA there are actually many lines that you need to change train even tho its on the same line- the some train services just end at some randon place without going to the end- its hard to get ard on mrt if you dk what the mechanical voice is saying lmao

You're right, I think they headed to Bugis and Arab St after that. Too bad we're not able to watch the whole episode, quite disappointed.
It's easy to prepare soft boiled eggs at home. Or in Singapore, we call it half-boiled eggs. You boil an unrefrigerated egg for around 3 mins, take it out, and immediately crack the egg open. Soft boiled egg is now served. If you use a refrigerated egg, leave it out overnight, and you can use the same timing (3 mins), and you get soft boiled egg as well. However, if you're going to use a refrigerated egg straight out from the fridge, then you'd need to boil the egg for a longer time before it gets half boiled.
A lot of uncles at kopitiam does it the way they are eating. The older generation are very familiar with that way of eating. Kaya toast isn't some fine dining. It's finger food that you can eat as you like.
I prefer my kaya toast with cheese and dip it in the egg (no soy sauce). The saltiness of the cheese is a good compliment to the egg.

For the hostess asking how to make the half boiled eggs, you don't directly boil the eggs. They are cooked for about 6-7 minutes in hot water.

I think they are saying how yakun is famous for its toasts and its better than the others who sell them like Toast Box etc... The item is the same, but not every place that sells it can make it decently

It's so funny how they went to all that trouble travelling on the MRT to Raffles Place when there's a Yakun outlet right in Changi Airport lmao. Also, the best and most authentic kaya toast would be in a kopitiam/coffee shop! Plus, they'd have to try the local beverages like kopi O or teh C. Or even a milo dino would be awesome :D But I do understand a proper shop like Yakun would probably be more suitable since the communication part would be easier.

There are no fake kaya toast and eggs, you can find these anywhere in Singapore. It is just that Yakun ones are consistent and usually better (their coffee too), but they also cost a lot more.
Why everyone saying don’t dip the bread in the egg but my whole family and I been eating like this I love kaya toast dip in the egg is super yummy salty egg with sweet kaya toast is a perfect match hahaha

no omg you eat the bread by itself with coffee (in singapore we call it kopi cuz its slang LOL but there are many variations) and you break the soft boiled egg and mix it and add pepper/soya sauce!!

Actually Ya Kun toast is the fake kaya toast. The original is from the local coffeeshop. Ya kun just mass produced it into a franchise.
