As a life-long X-Men fan...this movie had so much potential, but just seemed to try going in too many directions at once. But it has its moments. Anyone else?
Forgive me for 'not' being an Xmen 'fan' although I enjoy the movies well enough and I agree - I guess they knew this was going to be the 'last one' and did what they could to answer as many questions but yeah - definitely rushed. Also: NOT A FAN of killing off characters as if no more movies would ever be made featuring them. They understood this in the past and always tried to leave it open by incarceration or escape. Why am I 'not' a big fan? The idea of mutants is lazy IMO since they can Deus Ex Machina anything they want instead of having to be clever with the writing. The discrimination angle is the best part of the X-Men.
Yeah I agree with that, there are some good moments to this movie. Noy long after this movie came out Spiderman 3 came out, and at least that movie was unintentionally hilarious, this was just a downer to watch.
Glad that you liked the film, for me it tried to cover too much ground by shoehorning two major comic stories into a single film. I'm very happy that you managed to catch the post credit scene, which was quite a rare occurrence when this film was released.
Nice reaction, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). My favorite scene in the movie will always be when Magneto drags the Golden Gate Bridge. I was fascinated with that scene when I was young and now as an adult. BTW, Brett Ratner (director of the Rush Hour trilogy) did this movie because Bryan Singer did Superman Returns (2006), definitely react to that movie as well as you progress into Christopher Reeve's Superman movies, although Superman/Clark Kent is now played by Brandon Routh.
This one was my favorite of the trilogy, nice reaction Addie :) Juggernaut played by Vinnie Jones is an enemy boss in The Uncanny X-Men arcade game that I overplayed at Funworks in the 90's lol.
"There's nothing wrong with us." - The woman who can create tornados to the young girl who might kill her boyfriend if she tried to kiss him. I can't say I blame Rouge for feeling differently than Storm regarding the "cure".
3 weeks of waiting payed off! Great to see this reaction and cant wait too see when you come across the charecter you've "seen" in WandaVision) Hope we can enjoy that moment soon)
Ice Man is one of the strongest mutants in the series. The only ones that have been in the movies so far as strong or stronger than him are Phoenix Force Jean, Rogue if she copies the power of somebody that strong, and Angel when he turns into Archangel.
Hey Addie… watched how you got excited when you noticed Stan Lee, who was one of the creators of the original x-Men. STAN and the comic book artist Jack Kirby wrote the comic for almost a decade. And then it was taken over by Chris Claremont, who turned it in to one of the most popular comic book titles. Just so you know, at the beginning of the film, where Stan Lee’s water went up out of his hose. The guy whose lawnmower went flying into the air was Chris Claremont.. he was responsible for re-creating many of the characters, including wolverine, and turn them into one of the most popular comic book characters of all time. In the series of movies, you are watching now he also created the characters such as rogue, mystique, avalanche, Pyro, Kitty Pryde, and Phoenix. Many regular people who aren’t comic book fans don’t give him the props. He is a comic book legend and I thought you should know.
Addie, I have owned these movies on dvd since they were first available. All these years I never knew there was a post-credit scene. I just went to the youtube video to watch the entire scene and apparently I was not the only one who was clueless. What a revelation on your channel!!😀
Storm is one of my favourite characters from the X-men films - I definitely hope we get to see her in the MCU. I would even love for her to get her own movie or Disney+ show tbh. I've heard that she has a super interesting comic backstory: - she was worshipped as a Goddess - she's descended from a long line of African witch-priestesses - she married T'Challa/ Black Panther, thus has strong ties to Wakanda, etc.
Cyclops was killed off quickly because he had a commitment to film Superman Returns with the original franchise director, but still desperately wanted to be in the film. The studio didn't want to wait for either of them to become available and pushed production through. Although, they COULD have followed the comics and sent him off to Alaska for a while so that he could come back.
"Iceman" Bobby is one of several Omega level mutant in the X-Men meaning their powers has no upper limit I think. I know with his powers he can actually draining heat and energy from everything around him, to the point where the very atoms and subatomic particles of everything nearby are frozen still
That would effectively stop time for whatever is frozen in such a way. That is very useful. Materials become indestructible, their entropy can’t be changed. Objects would survive till the heat death of the universe. Cool stuff like that.
The robot in the Danger Room simulation was a Sentinel, a mutant-hunting robot that will become the primary antagonist in the later movie 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.
Magneto is a class 4 mutant. There are 22 sub levels between level 1 and level 4. So class 4 is really up there and Magneto is at the top of the level 4s. As you heard earlier their are few that are as powerful as he is. Jean Grey it seems is the only (known) class 5 mutant. As there are only 5 classes or levels, she is the most powerful mutant alive. As far as I know Apocalypse was the only other level 5 mutant. With his multitude of powers, he was considered godlike. Yet Jean was the one mutant that could defeat him. There may be something beyond on some universal power level, like that of Galactus or the Beyonder, ect., but I am not sure what that is in this universe. But as we see, Magneto can move giant metal bridges and has been known to pull up millions of tons of metal ore from deep inside the earth and hold it in the air for prolonged periods of time, so he has no lack of power. I do believe that the serum worked on him and there were 4 vials injected into him so he got a super dose, but he is so unbelievably powerful that 1) Perhaps it required at least one more vial to put him completely out of commission or 2) that the serum just wasn't a permanent cure and that with time your powers could return (again, depending on how powerful you are). It seems that the lower leveled mutants were experiencing a complete cure, as we saw with Rogue. Though again, who knows with time. This could be the flaw in the so called cure. I hope this answered some of your questions. (Class and Level are interchangeable terms, so don't be confused by my using them in the same context.)
I know a lot of fans would love to see a darker side of characters like Professor X & Mr Fantastic when they're introduced into the MCU, but I acc hope we get something more like this lol. 15:40 Professor X was a great character in these films - I don't want him to do anything worse than trapping the Phoenix in Jean's mind.
Happy that you enjoyed this movie! To me this movie somewhat felt it was taking different directions and in a way there were moments that felt rushed. However, I did enjoy some good moments from this movie and one liners as well! Your reaction to the end was hilarious, LOL! I like the way you narrated the "Fire and Ice, who will win!" line with Iceman & Pyro. It sounded awesome! :D I look forward for more X-Men related adventures soon!
I highly recommend the X-Men Animated Series, Dark Phoenix Sage which spans across 5 episodes in the third Season of the show. It's really good and should give you an idea on what we would've got if they spent more time building it up in these movies instead of going from X2 and then this film a loose adaptations of Dark Phoenix. First Class and more so Days of Future Past are much better comic book adaptations that are both inspired by the comics *First Class* and *Days of Future Past* yet they put their own spin on the events to fit into the movie canon so I'm excited for you're reaction to those. Side note but the X-Men Animated Series also has a really amazing Days of Future Past storyline as well. But overall happy you enjoyed the film it's very mixed in the fandom the more comic book fans dislike the movie as it's not a very good adaptation while new X-Men fans enjoy it as they're more likely to judge the film on it's own merits. I personally don't mind this film but I would've loved to see the Dark Phoenix Sage done justice in live action like the amazing comic book issues and animated version. Hopefully the MCU could pull it off once they dive into the X-Men in like 3 years time not to mention the build up to this storyline so like around 7 to 10 years time I could see them telling a Dark Phoenix Storyline.
@@vetarlittorf1807 They probably felt that bringing in Maddie would've been too complicated for little kids, as well as having Jean kill billions of innocent aliens a little too dark for those kids too. It's actually not a cure, they told us what it does in d movie much earlier, someone in d movie I don't remember who said, it suppress mutant abilities they are calling it a cure, suppressing something is not curing it, so all of those mutant that lost their power it's at least possible for them to get it back.

You've got a couple movies yet, but when you get to Days of Future Past, I recommend that you watch The Rogue Cut. The theatrical cut is fine, but Rogue is almost completely cut out of the movie. (Hence why this other version is called the Rogue Cut. She's put back in and it really changes how the movie plays out.) OR you could watch both! That'd be fun too. Love your reactions! Thanks for nerding out with us!
I'm really glad that the Rogue Cut exists, and I liked watching it, but it *murders* the pacing of that movie. I can easily see why it was cut, and imo it does slightly lessen the sense that sentinels are wiping out mutantkind if we find we're keeping some of them captive. I think it makes a better movie to keep all the drama/complexity in the past, and the ticking clock of an unstoppable Sentinel attack in the future.
Addie, the cure was the mutant Leech, in the comics, he was one of the Morlocks, we meet them in the tv show the Gifted. they are a band of mutants literally living underground, sort of like underground railroad, which was a term for people escaping the bonds of slavery in america.
29:00 well.. It means that you are human, you shouldn't censor any feeling, specially because that's exactly what we came to watch😊. The more, the better.
The Wolverine comes next in this timeline, but be sure to watch X-Men-Origins: Wolverine to get certain references in later movies, THEN get into the First Class movies, THEN comes Deadpool, The New Mutants, and finally, Logan.
There was a deleted scene where Rogue comes back to Bobby and tells him, "I couldn't do it. This is who I am..." And then you see her gloved hand take his. I wish they would have kept that ending. It showed a greater story arc for Rogue.
The original story it was cyclops that helped Jean balance and fight the entity Phoenix due to the strong love bond they have...Hugh Jackman got to replace him because Wolverine became a more popular character (in the stories he developed feelings for Jean but couldn't have her) and because the actor playing cyclops agreed to play a role in Superman returns and oh the scene with Magneto saving Mystique was from the original animated short story "The pryde of the X-Men" ... Magneto was the prisoner and the brotherhood headed by the White Queen saved him
22:31 you said it right. Magneto wouldn’t but ironically right after you said this Magneto knowingly sacrifices his followers which is an example of the character assassination in this movie 😔.
the next one is Xmen Origins: Wolverine..before Xmen Origins: First Class..then The Wolverine, Xmen: Days of Future Past, Xmen: Apocalypse, Logan, Xmen: Dark Phoenix..then there is Deadpool 1 and 2, kinda have its own universe/ timeline but is still an xmen movie, same with The New Mutants..

For funsies : [2018-DEC-12] DEADPOOL 2 (ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL) (This is super toned-down cut of the film, with much of extreme violence and gore removed, but interspersed with re-imagined clips from The Princess Bride, where Deadpool tells the Deadpool 2 story to an adult Fred Savage in his bedroom).
Just an FYI for the X-men movies going forward (from First Class onward)... just enjoy them. It's a soft reboot, which mainly means that for the most part, it's a hard reboot. Character ages don't match up, backstories are rewritten, and you might as well be starting all over again, just with the new knowledge of "hey, I know who that character is." Jean's powers are telepathy (like Charles), and telekinetic (moving things with your mind), but she can do it at the molecular level, essentially ripping atoms apart from each other.
The fact that Logan had to kill Jean, will forever haunt him. You totally should watch the wolverine movies! Edit: And of course, as always, great reaction. Um things get a little complicated after this timeline wise lol...incredible way to end the movie yes...yet sadly it's meaningless lol...the next movie would be Days of Future Past, which in my opinion isn't the greatest, but it's the next movie in the timeliness. The other newer xmen movies are prequels when they are younger, and the wolverine movies pick up after Days of Future Past, aside from the Wolverine Origins movie. Looking forward to watching your reactions to them all! 2nd Edit: the movie Logan in my opinion is AWESOME. But unfortunately it's the last movie you should watch lol so it will be a little while before we get to that one.
Angel seems like a really cool character. I'm kinda surprised that he always seems to be pushed into a supporting role tbh (i.e. in this film, X-Men: Apocalypse, X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine & the X-Men, etc), despite being one of the first 5 X-Men in the comics - I hope we get to see more of his character in the MCU. It would also be cool to see a close bond between him & Storm, like in Wolverine & the X-Men - I feel like it could create a lot of fun scenes since they can both fly lol.
In one of the many alternate universes in Marvel Storm actually does replace Charles as the the head of the school. If you want to keep going forward with the story then the next movie you should watch is The Wolverine but if you want to get some back story or a story that revolves around Wolverines past the watch X-Men first calls or X-Men origins Wolverine. In the movies Scott and Jean are just a couple they are not married.
Jean’s power continues to be Telekinesis and telepathy. However, with the phoenix force her powers are greater, she can control matter at a subatomic level with telekinesis, so she literally atomized the people she killed in this movie by separating their atoms. Same with all the stuff she destroyed, she manipulated matter at a subatomic level so she basically pulverized things.
Addie, in the comics after? the Xmen in the 1980s there was a junior team called the New Mutants , they had a movie in 2020 , and after, in the 1990s there was a second junior team, Generation X , they had a movie in 1995
Going forward with the franchise, you'll notice that some plot details don't quite add up and will contradict things that happened in previous films. This is because Fox didn't have an MCU-like grand plan to maintain a strong continuity from film to film. Writers and directors would come and go, and it would be quite evident that they either didn't watch the previous films or they would disregard the previous films in favor of telling the story they wanted to tell. So there wasn't much attention being paid to make sure that the continuity regarding some characters' origins remained the same. There's even THREE very different versions of the same character across three separate X-Men films. They do attempt to clean up some of these inconsistencies, but their efforts only go so far and still can't quite explain or resolve them all. The best advice I can give to you is to not get too hung up on the plot inconsistencies when you encounter them.
I'm so glad you enjoyed X-Men. They are honestly some of my favorite movies. I even like them better than the MCU. Sure, there are a couple of stinkers in this series like Wolverine: Origins...but I still think they're all worth a watch. Even this movie X3: The Last Stand wasn't liked as much, but still it was a solid movie. I'm looking forward to your reactions to the rest of them.
If you want a continuation of this part of the story check out the animated series X-men:Evolution it only got one season but it is one of the best iterations of the X-men and it directly follows a version of this storyline.
I guess the idea with Prof. X is, that that person was his twin brother, brain-dead from birth, apparently because Charles was such a powerful mentality, even in the womb.

#IBlameAviArad
Same thing with TASM series
Yep so much potential, so much promise. So annoyed Scott died.
I blame Avi Arad for turning the movie into a toy commercial
My friends and I seeing this in theater: "What does Jean Grey have against gravity?"
28:45 your reaction to this scene is GOLD!
I've heard that she has a super interesting comic backstory:
- she was worshipped as a Goddess
- she's descended from a long line of African witch-priestesses
- she married T'Challa/ Black Panther, thus has strong ties to Wakanda, etc.
I will always be left wondering "What if Bryan Singer hadn't jumped ship for Superman Returns?"
YOUR SMILE!!!!!!!!!!! at the end.... In all of your reaction you never smile like that..... wooow.... you spark..
10:24 Flying free over Alcatraz prison
The robot in the Danger Room simulation was a Sentinel, a mutant-hunting robot that will become the primary antagonist in the later movie 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.
Your excitement over the ending is the best thing I've seen all week!! 😅😊
I love the X Men films and comics. Jean Grey & Wanda are my favorite characters
X-Men: TAS messed up the Dark Phoenix Saga though, by having Jean survive.
@@vetarlittorf1807 They probably felt that bringing in Maddie would've been too complicated for little kids, as well as having Jean kill billions of innocent aliens a little too dark for those kids too.
Regardless, it's still the best adaptation of the Phoenix Saga that we've gotten in any medium so far.
@@Termite30 It's still a cop out. And it's the main reason why X-Men: Evolution was going to kill off Jean in their version of the Dark Phoenix Saga. Too bad that show was cancelled.
Idk how to say this w/o sounding like an old lady…but u seem like the *loveliest* person. Genuinely kind & accepting of everyone. It’s super rare to find someone as beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. Happily subscribed.
28:44 Such a teensy movement with such a BIG meaning! 😁
"If we don't fight now, everything we stood for will fight with them."
It's actually not a cure, they told us what it does in d movie much earlier, someone in d movie I don't remember who said, it suppress mutant abilities they are calling it a cure, suppressing something is not curing it, so all of those mutant that lost their power it's at least possible for them to get it back.

This is another amazing trilogy reaction after your awesome Sam Raimi Spiderman trilogy reactions. Thank you for appreciating the franchise Marvel forgot about when the MCU blew up
By now you should know that nothing is permanent in comic books. "No one's ever really gone".
The reaction you had to the chess piece moving...i call it a nerdgasm. They are normal, you're doing it right! :D
im glad you enjoyed the movies... however the portrayal of rogue in this franchise is nothing less than unforgivable.
X-Men the Last Stand is my favorite X-Men movie period. Glad you enjoyed it also :D
Best reaction to that ending ever.
Halle Berry with silver hair is 👌🏻
Hi Addie, Magneto "uncured" (back to mutant) because he has level 5. It effect directly "cured" mutant under level 5
X men first class and x men days of future past are probably my favorite to watch
You've got a couple movies yet, but when you get to Days of Future Past, I recommend that you watch The Rogue Cut. The theatrical cut is fine, but Rogue is almost completely cut out of the movie. (Hence why this other version is called the Rogue Cut. She's put back in and it really changes how the movie plays out.)
OR you could watch both!
I like X-Men movies, but as a comic lover too, the name of saga should be "Wolverine & Friends"
That reaction at the end was amazing.
Rogue's full name is Anna Marie LeBeau
18:55 "Aaach, oo-huuh. This is complicated." Welcome to The X-Men! 😝
Addie, the cure was the mutant Leech, in the comics, he was one of the Morlocks, we meet them in the tv show the Gifted. they are a band of mutants literally living underground, sort of like underground railroad, which was a term for people escaping the bonds of slavery in america.
28:48 I love your reaction there it's the same one I had when I first saw this film
29:00 well.. It means that you are human, you shouldn't censor any feeling, specially because that's exactly what we came to watch😊. The more, the better.
Look how smooth Professor X was "back then".
Magneto was the prisoner and the brotherhood headed by the White Queen saved him
24:46 "Oh, geez. Those are like Hugs of Death." Yeah, using a power like that, it's hard to imagine he's anything other than a psychopath.
Fun Fact: Juggernaut is Charles’ step-brother & Mystique is the mother of Rogue & Nightcrawler
@Nick Smyth In the comics
@@RM-qj8cs It's amazing how many people seem incapable of making that distinction between films and the material that inspired them.
@@RM-qj8cs yes... at least the Mystique part. They confirm that in "Deadpool 2" & "First Class"
@@bigdream_dreambig The Mystique part, yes, is only in the comics, but it is confirmed Juggernaut is still his brother in these films
22:31 you said it right. Magneto wouldn’t but ironically right after you said this Magneto knowingly sacrifices his followers which is an example of the character assassination in this movie 😔.
Yes. It Is normal and healty.
the next one is Xmen Origins: Wolverine..before Xmen Origins: First Class..then The Wolverine, Xmen: Days of Future Past, Xmen: Apocalypse, Logan, Xmen: Dark Phoenix..then there is Deadpool 1 and 2, kinda have its own universe/ timeline but is still an xmen movie, same with The New Mutants..
14:44 best scene in the movie.
I love that you love these movies. They are so great.

DEADPOOL (Loosely ties in with the X-Men Origins and Logan films) :

[2018-MAY-18] DEADPOOL 2 (Be sure to find the "Super-Duper Cut" for maximum carnage!)
For funsies :
[2018-DEC-12] DEADPOOL 2 (ONCE UPON A DEADPOOL) (This is super toned-down cut of the film, with much of extreme violence and gore removed, but interspersed with re-imagined clips from The Princess Bride, where Deadpool tells the Deadpool 2 story to an adult Fred Savage in his bedroom).
Just an FYI for the X-men movies going forward (from First Class onward)... just enjoy them. It's a soft reboot, which mainly means that for the most part, it's a hard reboot. Character ages don't match up, backstories are rewritten, and you might as well be starting all over again, just with the new knowledge of "hey, I know who that character is."
Jean's powers are telepathy (like Charles), and telekinetic (moving things with your mind), but she can do it at the molecular level, essentially ripping atoms apart from each other.
Continuity schmontinuity
jean used him to stop herself. they already showed she could suppress powers so she could have easily killed him if she wanted to
What they don't really explain in the end credits scene is that the person without a conscious was his twin brother born that way.
29:00 Oh it is so very normal! You are one of us! ☺
When you get to watching x-men days of future past please watch the rogue cut version instead of the theatrical cut.
This picture likes me besarse the 5 x Men appears Ciclops Jean Grey,Iceman,Best and Angel, alsoColossus,Kitty Pride and Storm
The Phoenix vs The Scarlett Witch is the fight EVERYONE wants!!
oh yeah!!!!
Oh, btw here's a funny bts blooper of the cast "voguing":

Omg I love your reaction, you do it soo good girl I love you ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dippy do addie...lol..ya lucky this is one of my favs..lol ya goofy m8te from Australia
Next is “X-men origins wolverine” which was not the best ( in my opinion )
I'm so glad you enjoyed X-Men. They are honestly some of my favorite movies. I even like them better than the MCU. Sure, there are a couple of stinkers in this series like Wolverine: Origins...but I still think they're all worth a watch. Even this movie X3: The Last Stand wasn't liked as much, but still it was a solid movie. I'm looking forward to your reactions to the rest of them.
If you want a continuation of this part of the story check out the animated series X-men:Evolution it only got one season but it is one of the best iterations of the X-men and it directly follows a version of this storyline.
IMO this oculd have been SO much better..they rushed a lot of the characters/story arc, but it is what it is lol
I guess the idea with Prof. X is, that that person was his twin brother, brain-dead from birth, apparently because Charles was such a powerful mentality, even in the womb.
I absolutely loved this reaction!!
Even though this movie is somewhat of a mess, the music score when Wolverine walks towards Jean is just so good.
Hi Addie. I grew up watching a cartoon where Iceman Bobby Drake was friends with Peter Parker Spider-Man. Bobby appeared in one episode of the 1990s X-Men animated series. Anyway, Bobby transforming into Iceman was something I saw a bunch of times, but never in a live action movie. 😀
link ruclips.net/video/gjC8zWgGDFM/видео.html Cartoon starts at 03:47
The X-Men TAS episode that Iceman was in is called "Cold Comfort". In the series, Iceman was seen in many flashbacks which include "Days Of Future Past Part 1", "Proteus Part 1", "Sanctuary Part 1", and "Xavier Remembers."
