  • In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, online privacy is on everyone's minds. But according to privacy experts, the entire way we think about and understand what 'privacy' actually means... is wrong.
    In this new Think Again, NBC News Correspondent Andrew Stern dives deep into digital privacy - what it really means, how we got to this point, how it impacts every facet of our lives, and how little of it we actually have.

      so what is your solution? we shouldn't own a bank account because someone could do that? I assume you keep your money under your bed... what about your you tube account???
      You want to use the internet and take advantage of it? well you have to let these company collect data so they can make a profit and keep all these great services efficient and relaible! and waht is wrong with getting targeted ads? it's actually a service for you.

    • @antoniodesimone4689
      @antoniodesimone4689 Год назад

      @Zoom I understand it pretty good actually, definitely more than you paranoid individuals. I know the risks and if you don't want risks just don't use the internet. But don't expect that companies shouldn't profit from you in some ways, it is completely normal and natural. So instead of telling me that I don't understand put your money where your mouth is and delete your social media account or don't use internet, or maybe go use those trash search engines like duck something and those useless VPN services. Even better would you pay a monthly fee to use you tube or Google? Because if they can't track you and send you relevant ads they cannot run these platforms 🤷🏻‍♂️ as simple as that.

    Google says you don't own your location data, they do. They provided the infrastructure in order to track it so you don't get much choice in how it is used. The best proof of this is if you have a business it is listed by google all without your consent or input including your hours of operation which they know because of the data your phone sends them. You can go online and change the hours of operation manually which they take about a day to approve but the point is they allow this with very little information from you because they know exactly who put in the request just from it coming from a google phone. If you ask them they will tell you this very matter of factly.

Them buying and selling data was just an excuse to break the law. That's why they signed a bill to make it illegal and added it to the privacy protection act.

    That's because Privacy is a Narcissists Unreal Fantasy, and it's never Really Existed. If it ever was real, and legitimate, then we'd never have ever had eavesdropping neighbors, tabloids and gossipers. But we do though, and we're even guilty of invading others privacy. So let's not be so self-absorbed, and move on to a real problem we can tackle.
