Excellent video Norm. Really enjoyed it and the music was very nice too. It has got us planning our next trip. Good on you for going to all the trouble of making this.

      Thanks Phil.
It's a good little hobby for me. keeps me occupied. Glad it's providing the incentive for people to get out and do it. It's a great life.
      Cheers mate.

Love it Norm, a million bucks for a block of land then spend another mega amount to get a view and you pull up and stay for free right out the front in their view, priceless. Nice video once again, safe travels Steve.

All the best for your trip South Norm. Ive been watching your vids since the Norm, Dawn & Pip days, and have always enjoyed them. They helped inspire us to build our 12M cat, after a bout (and recovery) from Prostate Cancer, and helped keep our motivation up, during the build. Four years later we launched in Pt Sorell Tas. Then COVID, literally on the eve of our departure, put a stop to our cruising plans for 2020. Anyway, I'm loving the focus on the NSW bars, as I will be crossing them next year. PS: if you are looking for something a little different when you get to Tassy, make the trip up to Launceston. The Tamar It's actually a beautiful river, and one of the few rivers in AUS that is navicatable for its entire length, about 70k. The Seaport Marina in Launie is cheap, and located right next to the CBD. Its where we laid up our boat, as we sat out COVID. Best wishes.

Thanks Peter. Great story. Would be good to catch up when i get down there. My Facebook page is Cruising East Coast Australia and is more up to date than the vids.
      Next year mate.

Hi Norm, we love Paradise Point too. The bakery there is too good! We did the walk to the cafe you went to, it’s just amazing how quickly the development is progressing.
We’re curious to know more about what minimum and maximum conditions are required for passage making in your experience (wave period, wave height, wind) and what specific things do you check on before leaving on an ocean passage on the East Coast?
Jealous - that chop dinner looked yummo.

      Hi Nomads,
My boat will handle all sorts of conditions and has ridden out a gale in Bass Strait 50knts about 12m seas.
      But I don't like it.
I always wait for the wind to be from behind and ideally 10 to 15 kts.
If you're crossing bars small swells and the last 2 hours of the flood tide is the best time.
It's a lot easier now I'm retired. Having plenty of time allows me to wait for the right conditions.
I always do an engine room pre start check before any passage.
Fan Belts, Fluid Levels and a general inspection of the engine room.
Keep your bilges clean and dry bilges and then any leaks (oil or water) will be easily identified.
Things can still go wrong....watch some of the upcoming episodes.
      Cheers dudes

    Love your work Norm
I just had a crazy idea
At 17 minutes 40 you talk about a tip for crossing bars
What would be brilliant if you did an episode on all of your tips for Crossing bars generally.
Might keep idiots like me from killing ourselves

Yes Norm. You cant guarantee a spot near wavebreak these days. A lot of sea gypsies for a couple of years now.
