Here's the thing. If the customer is saying they want to compare products against yours, it simply means you have not addressed their needs or their wants.
NO necessarily in our days shopping around is pretty standard no matter what you say! The ones you close on spot the mayority are impulsive buyers or they really like you u have A+ bbb, awesome reviews but in our days Smart buyers shop around.

Truly brilliant.
I get the point. But as a salesperson, I KNOW when another salesperson is trying to get me to my hot point, and I may not always want to reveal that.
Also, sometimes the prospect doesn't want to reveal that they were looking for price the whole time out of fear of being called cheap, or being overlooked and given poor service because they can't afford the better products/better service.
You have to start somewhere and honesty goes along way in developing a relationship with a prospect.
