manga is SUCH a lifesaver for reading slumps so i'm glad you've found some that have saved your fom yours 😩✊ also you should definitely read the foxhole court teehee (actually i'm only 50% sure you'll like it but i need to push the aftg agenda whenever i can)
you are sooo right about the sunshine court it's actually a literary masterpiece. i finished it in april and i still think about it every day :(( jean moreau i love you so much (also the sequel is supposed to come out between october-december soo. counting down the days)
seeing The Sunshine Court as your best read of the year so far made me smile so much because SAME HERE! i finished binge reading it in a day and couldn't believe just how amazing these books are even after a decade. can't wait to read the next one whenever it'll drop. your one piece mention has also brightened my day since it's my fav story as well. it has been one of the biggest comforts of my life too, so i completely understand that feeling. one comment on the Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation books is that to me it's not the strongest medium of the story even though it is the original source material. this series has so many mediums in adaptation - like donghua, manhua, a tv show, audio drama - and i think all of them bring something new to the table. but what i wanted to tell you is that to me the best and strongest version of it is actually the tv show The Untamed. i feel like it's the one version where the character depth is the strongest, the cast is literally one of those magical castings where the actors were made for the roles. even though it had to fight through a smaller budged bc it was intended to be only as a web series + chinese censorship, it still became a global sensation and is imo singlehandedly the reason for why mxtx's stories reached a wider global audience. i read the novels after watching the show and it was interesting to see the differences and i think in that order i actually ended enjoying the novels a lot more than i'd have enjoyed them if i read them first. maybe that's just me though, since the novels do have a huge popularity regardless, but either way i recommend for you to check out The Untamed, it's fully on both youtube and netflix (esp seeng as you are currently in drama watching mood as well). lastly, reading slumps suck but i think it's better not to force yourself through them and just let your hobbies and moods guide you through it. i was doing the same last year and felt lot more at peace with myself that way. i'm sure you'll be out of soon!
ruthless vows really let me down too, it seemed entirely different than divine rivals, and lacked a lot of the qualities that made me love divine rivals so much :(
It's normal for there to be reading breaks, I do that too. Also for some classics I enjoy reading along to the audiobook, I think that can make it more immersive. I'm still planning to read Grandmaster so it's interesting to see that as your biggest surprise :)

My reading year has been THE WORST. I've been on a slump since the beginning of the year. I was trying to go with the vibes and not force myself, cause that usually does it, for me. Now, I think, I'll do the extreme opposite. I'll force myself until I pick the habit back up. Since I have adhd, when you don't do one of your hobbies for a long time, you tend to forget you liked doing it. It's the whole object permanence thing. If it's not in front of us, we might forget it exists. I'm hoping it goes well for me. Wish me luck! I'm also wishing you luck on your slump.
You're not alone with Ruthless Vows, I loved Divine Rivals and is one of my favorite books of the year so far, but Ruthless Vows was just not it. I still have to check the books I've read and see what are my favs but I'll wait until the end of June. ❤❤

My new favourite book: Radio Silence. I havent relate to a character like Frances never in the past. Biggest Disappointment: I actually didn't have one but if I had to say is probably Lore Olympus. I tried so much to like it but I didnt. I'm so sorry. Biggest Surprise: My Love Mix-Up. I was watching an old video of yours and I had nothing to read and I decided to give it a try. I was surprised because I usually don't like missunderstandings in books cause most of the times is not well done. But oh boy I was so wrong. Books I need to read before the year ends: King Of Scars & Role Of Wolves. I would recommend you to read Cursed Princess Club. It's sooooo good. Great video btw!!!❤

My favorite book this year would have to be between Funny Story & Happy Place by: Emily Henry and my favorite fantasy is A Court of Wings & Ruin. Actually having a hard time finding a good fantasy read. The biggest disappointment read was The Serpent and the Wings of Night. I enjoyed the characters but it felt very slow until the trails but I do plan to read the sequel to see what happens. Almost done with reading The Mortal Instrument series and cannot wait to read The Last Hours Trilogy and I know I am going out of order but I am more invested in the ones that are connected to The Infernal Devices but will go back to read all of the Shadowhunter novels. Sorry to hear you are in a reading slump girl but 84 books is still an amazing achievement! If anything, don't try to force yourself out of it. Give yourself a break and enjoy doing some other things besides reading. The books aren't going anywhere and they will be waiting for you when you are ready to pick them up. Over 80 books is crazy!! My favorite book is the very first I read this year, Mondays not coming by Tiffany d Jackson ❤ and currently reading the Queen of the tearling after a friend recommended it, it’s really good so far

Just enjoy every reading moment is a great motto to live by 🥹🫶 I don’t have a daily set of hours I read for, sometimes (like right now) i can go weeks without picking up a single book so there’s really no average of hours 🥲
I won't feel like I'm in a slump but that the three books I'm reading are right for me right now. If that makes sense. I don't want to dnf them but maybe leave them for another time.

Trying not to overwhelm myself so manga is easier to digest 😆 I've been loving A sign of affection, also started Insomniacs after School (watched the anime and loved it so was curious to read the manga as well). I've also started Naruto manga. I originally watched the anime as I grew up with it, but never read the manga and .. wanted to try it 😆 I am also reading Jujutsu Kaisen but I am unable to buy new volumes at the moment so waiting until I can treat myself again with one or two :)
When you were talking about the manga series... One piece and that you were bedridden for weeks, it reminded me of my mother who passed away recently on June 4th of this year of stage 4 pancreatic cancer and she was also bedridden and she couldn't eat for 3 months 😢 my family and I believe that she died of starvation. 😭

When you were talking about the manga series... One piece and that you were bedridden for weeks, it reminded me of my mother who passed away recently on June 4th of this year of stage 4 pancreatic cancer and she was also bedridden and she couldn't eat for 3 months 😢 my family and I believe that she died of starvation. 😭
