You almost gave it away Jay when you said NEVADA.... I was like WTH 😂😂😂. But anyway a really really good Pale Ale. Again David's facial expressions are priceless 😂😂😂 Good job boys 👍🏾🍺
RIP to Keith, an OG of the beer review movement. Great review Jay....and yes I tend to overlook this beer a lot too (as well as the torpedo). I will make sure to get a 6pack very soon.
I bought a 6 pack of this a few weeks ago, I thought I was having it for the first time but I just saw I made a comment on another video last year, I also had a local APA a few months ago as well. The style has grown on me, pale ales have some certain ale specific taste that is pleasant that I can't place which isn't present in lagers which is a nice change. I was never super in love with citra hops, but they have grown on me, I found both the APA's I had to be quite pleasant. It won't be supplanting Central European Pilsners for me, but if I see it on sale it will be strongly considered and up in the top echelon of American produced commonly available beers for me.
This is one of my all time favorite beers. When I was 18 and was first on my craft beer excursion I tried this and all I could think was "Pine needles, pine needles, pine needles." Wasn't a fan, though it was one of the first times I remember finding different, distinct, interesting flavors in a beer. But as I got older I came to really appreciate it. Up in Chico California you could get pitchers of it for like $5 (pre pandemic). Classic beer, always hits the spot. Would love to see a solo revisit video Jay.
As far as all the big name American Pale Ales go, I always said I preferred Sweetwater's 420 Extra Pale Ale over the SN Pale Ale and people think Im crazy but Im sticking by that. Its been so long since I've had Dale's Pale Ale that I cant really say where I think it fits. There's other popular American Pale Ales like Zombie Dust and Daisy Cutter that I either haven't had or cant remember what I thought of them.
ill have to try the sweetwater 420 again, when i had it i think it was a bit old, i dont recall checking the date but it had a cardboard hop taste. im on the west coast though so i dont see it as often. You might also like mirror pond pale ale by deschuttes brewery, its similiar to sierra nevada but 5% abv and also showcases cascade hops. dales pale is good, its a bit strongerat 6.5% and has a broader hop profile but my preference is sierra nevada.
I enjoy this no-frills approach. It's just two friends, enjoying a beer in silence. What more is needed? I wish you would do an entire video like that. Yes, the commentary is quite poignant, I believe. Good vibes.
I think I know what you’re talking about. You guys are probably a handful of years older than me and in a slightly different geographic area, but yes the ones I think about are Guinness, Newcastle, Becks, Bass, St Paulie girl, Killians Red, Lowenbrau, etc. before the craft beer boom
Great beer, great brewery although I am sad that SN isn’t distributing an Oktoberfest this year. As for Pale Ale to me this the beer that once you can fully enjoy it and appreciate it one can call themselves a beer enthusiast.
@@ronaldtheriot Their Oktoberfest is a brewery tap room release only this year. I miss the days of their collaborations with German breweries. Some fantastic beers.
One of the best beers ever brewed. Dry, clean finish. One of the great craft beers coming out of the pacific northwest in the 1980's. By the way it's been many years since I've been here, hope you are doing well.
It's a good beer but it's kind of has too much of a bitter to me so I really don't like it that much for me I would go with the Pabst Blue Ribbon than this beer
SOLID BREW!!! TOTALLY SOLID!!! Good detailed review as always!!!
Yes, and thanks, so much!
Love the concept of this video , great idea
Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I had SNPA recently, did a taste challenge against Dale's, it will be out in the not-too-distant future. Love your mystery taste challenges!
Thanks, and I shall watch, Wayne!
Drinking on this today. Such a good quality middle of the road brew. Well balanced good flavor. Cheers guys 🍻
Thanks for the good comments, and cheers, back to you, Michael!

Ha-ha. Thanks, Jean!
Thanks so much for the video. I’ve been hoping you would do a taste challenge with SNPA for a while, it’s such a great pale ale.
You're welcome, and I'm glad you liked our video.

Still probably the best pale ale in the game. I bought a 12 pack of cans the other day and enjoyed each and every one.
It's a modern classic.

I might do a solo revisit, sl235.
A lovely pale ale, too often overlooked, and I mean by me. Time to buy some, maybe this weekend.
I should buy some, too.
It's a winner in my book for sure!
In my book, too!

I should revisit the 420 Extra.
I love the SweetWater 420... To me I think it's a tie between both of them.

@@nathanmoore2732 Thanks for watching, Nathan Moore. I appreciate it! Ah! I've reviewed Mirror Pond!

Thanks, Arch, and we enjoy thinking on and drinking on, these various beers.
Agreed
Will David ever attend a Fandango Friday ?
I seriously doubt it. Thanks, CD. I'm glad you enjoyed our video.

No 2022 Octoberfest beer from them? Golly! Thanks for watching, Dan Gruhn. I appreciate it!

Remember Pete's Wicked Ale?
Yes, I bought at least a six-pack of it, back in c.1996.
Confusing Sierra Nevada Pale Ale for Icehouse should be considered blasphemy.
That's the way it goes, sometimes. Thanks for watching, It's Jack Bandit. I appreciate it.
Total wine doesn’t give a shit about bottle/can dates. I’d argue they hardly care about the beer…
I can't argue with that.
Colt 45 and Icehouse?? 🤣
Yes.

It's still common, here. Thanks for watching, Poe Fan. I appreciate it!

Yes, they're quite different, one to another.
